I used to live at VT3 and the project changed to calculating the maintenance fee by sqm, rather than a flat unit fee. I don't remember if that was the case for any of the other VTs. The VT projects have some of the most reasonable maintenance fees.

What is the Secret to Happiness?
newnative replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I liked the excellent posts from both of the 'Chris' posters. I feel like I am happier now than in some of my earlier years. I think it's important to keep a positive outlook as much as you can and I always try to see the glass as half full rather than half empty. -
The topic is 'Neo Pattaya--the manicured shape of things to come.' I believe my post, which also talked about Beach Road trees, was not really 'going away from the topic'. Nothing wrong with discussing one thing in a topic and then suggesting it could be applied elsewhere, as well. (I don't have any problem with you 'going away from the topic' with your suggestion that planting trees on Nua or Klang--nothing to do with 'removal of trees on the Beach'--would probably damage the cables.)

Fugitive police chief 'Jo Ferrari' surrenders
newnative replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Thailand News
So, if he surrendered it's all been sorted. Pay a fine and off to an inactive post. Meanwhile, let's auction off the cars and donate the money to organizations feeding the homeless and unemployed. -
Doesn't anyone read anymore? I'm talking about wires that have now been buried on other major roads, not Beach Road. Now that the wires are buried, shade trees can be planted on these roads. With regard to Beach Road, yes the shade trees are being removed--and many are unhappy about this--including, apparently, some other government agencies. Just because shade trees are removed doesn't mean they can't be replaced. The plan seems to be for new palm trees to be planted. Not a big deal to switch some of them to shade trees. Let's have some variety--and shade.

View Talay 2A and 2B are very large projects with hundreds of units so dozens for sale isn't that unusual. It bears noting that when you look at websites like Hipflat the same unit for sale might be listed by a dozen or more agencies, sometimes with different main photos so it may look like it's a different listing. And, when condos sell, the listings are not always removed so there's that, too.

I really don't see how planting shade trees will deter tourists from coming. "Oh, my God! They've planted shade trees! Let's cancel our trip!" Shade trees, and not just palms, would be a plus on Beach Road, in my opinion. Variety is the spice of life. The city is starting to bury all the overhead wires on some of the major roads. With the wires buried, trees can now grow on these streets and not have to be severely trimmed like they used to when they reached the wires. These now wireless roads would be more attractive--and walkable--with shade trees. And, again, not just palms. My Thai partner has told me several times about the flowering trees with purple blossoms that were planted years ago on some of the streets. He remembered them being so beautiful when he visited Pattaya. You can still see some of these trees but many have died--it would be nice if the ones that have died were replaced and added to.

Locals hit out at Miami inspired beautification of Pattaya
newnative replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
So sad. I hardly recognize north Pattaya Beach Road. Every 'artist rendering' looks worse than the one before--this latest one is ghastly. Notice most of the people in the rendering are trying to stand in the tiny bit of shade provided by the palm trees. -
I agree that plenty of Thai people are accepting the vaccine. There were plenty of Thais waiting with me when I got my two sinovac jabs. My Thai partner's family all got sinovac in June--they are upper-middle class, mostly in banking. Would they have preferred a different vaccine? Yes. Me, too. But, that was what was on offer and we all gladly took it. Our thinking, which hasn't changed, was any vaccine is better than no vaccine and the sooner the better. We have all contracted for a Moderna booster--if it ever arrives--and we will be on the lookout for any other booster choices that might be available to buy from hospitals in case the Moderna falls through.
-
So approve it already and let hospitals buy it. Stop dragging your feet on all the good vaccines. My partner and I have had 2 jabs of sinovac and we want to buy a booster in a month or so.

Strict lockdowns seem to have worked in New Zealand but what I don't understand is why their vaccination program has been so slow--less than 30% vaccinated. They did the lockdown great with good discipline that kept infections low but have botched the vaccination part, from what I can see. Australia in some respects seems to be similar.

Victim of theft, options from here?
newnative replied to Dave Dave's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Walk it off. -
Take whatever you can get, as soon as you can get it. The sooner you have some protection, the better. Every day there seems to be a story on Yahoo of some American who hadn't gotten around to being vaccinated dying from covid. I think yesterday it was a mother who had lost both of her unvaccinated sons, 34 and 35, from covid within a day of each other. She was vaccinated, also got covid, but survived. Get what you can, even if it is Sinovac, and then make plans to get a booster down the road.

NACC needs 16 months to probe handling of case against Red Bull heir
newnative replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No, they don't need 16 months. What a farce! 16 days would be plenty of time. What's left to 'probe' by now??? Kick that can down the road--in this case WAY down the road. -
Probably $28,000 in the USA.

Thailand to receive 61 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine this year
newnative replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Meanwhile, when are they going to allow private hospitals to procure their own vaccines? -
Thailand to gain 31,000 new hotel rooms
newnative replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Thailand News
Try to read more carefully. I said occupancy is low now. Duh. We are in lockdown with travel restrictions. Of course it's dead now. Of course no hotels are doing well now. I think Grand Palazzo has been closed during the lockdown--perhaps others. I also live in north Pattaya and before the lockdown hotels such as Mytt, Holiday Inn, Grande Centre Point, Dusit, Cape Dara, Amari, and others were doing well enough on weekends--with some weekday business--to at least remain open.
