Is your ol' hometown RUINED? (Also: Nudism survey)
Nothing wrong in making a buck/baht. The problem is when people come and dont bring the money....and stay. I can't fault any conutry/people for not wanting this. If you come, don't expect citizens to support you financially.

All Aussie Related Stuff (excluding the old age pension)
Thanks. I still have a newcastle permanent bank account, but they are now askign me to verify my information. They state the letter must come from the embassy, which costs much more than I have in that account! My wife also has the same issue but her account is used to collect some investment dividends. I used a local notary public (much cheaper than the embassy) recently to verify my ID to my investment fund in Australia. Im not sure why the bank is so fussy. Also, that bank is in NSW, that I rarely visit now. I mainly go to QLD where my mother lives.

All Aussie Related Stuff (excluding the old age pension)
Quick question. I'm Australian and would like to open a bank account in Australia. However, I have lived in Thailand years and do not have an address in Australia anymore. I have an investement fund and will probable be doing transfers, so I will need a bank account. Has anyone managed to open an Australian bank account when living in Thailand? What paperwork was required to do it? Any recommended banks I can try? Thanks..

After retirement, what? - for a Thai national
Australia has i covered...just increase the old age pension age! Either way, I won't qualify for that, and will have to make do on earning, family and other investments.

If they're a civil servant they get a nice pension and medical care. Other professionals are likely to have a provident fund or some other kinds of investments (as well as being looked after by family). The nice thing about a civil servant pension is that you can keep working full time after 60 (not for givt though) and still get the full pension.

Thaksin to get extra security and “adequate conveniences” while in prison
Why? He will get bail and be out in 24 hours. I highly doubt he will spend any significant time behind bars. We all know how this works.

Pink Line to Changwattana?
I live around there. Yes the traffic is terrible int he afternoon, and I wonder why they are still using lanes to park their trucks and store construction equipment. They are slowely opening some parts of some lanes. I saw some testing of a train a month ago, but I have no idea of when it will open, but the openign keeps getting pushed back. Maybe next year or the followin year? There is still a lot of construction to do around Impact (I think I saw a sign saying that is at least 2 years away from being finished. They certainly don't seem in any hurry to finish any of it. Tivanon road is still a mess as well.

Family of six survives crash in brand new pickup on first day of ownership in northern Thailand
No idea, as the low ride tritons have to low powered motor (unlike the high riders). More "fun" would be the low rider 4 door revo with 200+hp and no traction control system...especially on those stock skinny tires.

Pheu Thai cruising toward power, but at what price?
60 is too young. Many 60 year olds still have all their mental faculties. My wife retired from government 2 years ago, but has taken another more senior position (but not srictly as a government employee). It's not like the ork is arduous like in construction. I would think many poeple can work until their are 70-75 or so.

Weather Apps
The www.windy.com shows real time rain. I would say for my location it is 98% accurate - if rain at my house it almost certainly is raining. It also shows the movement of rain, so if there is a storm front coming you can expect it, as long as it's not far away. It may break up or dissapate. It other instances, rain can start spontaneously from existing clouds. The The current situation.

Those 5% probably work for the government. My wife paid something like 160K in tax last year. I douby many businesses pay much tax at all and run separate books if they are ever audited.

Honda HR-V 2023 alternatives
Except the top spec cr-v is hybrid non-turbo. Post some links for your second statement. It turbo engines fail, that is mainly due to abuse or poor maintainence.

www.windy.com Click "weather radar" to get the current rainfall. It's very accurate.

And you have had this car exactly how long? .....most cars are fine during the warranty period. But 5-10 years down the track is when you will meet problems. Just be sure to sell it well before the warranty expires.
