  1. We used to have a similar problem, mainly hungover farang teaches to turning up to work Monday morning. Interestingly, never had this problem with the non-native speakers. Our kids are almost always in class.
  2. These clubs often have shops to sell all sorts of bows arrows and other equipment. Try "archery Thai" in Bangkok. My son decided he wanted to try archery and ended up buying equipment from them. He also ordered older style bows from overseas. Not too expensive.
  3. Th swift we had also had a cvt. No problems but we sold the car at 115k kms. This was the cheapest to maintain car we have ever owned and used to average 18km/l. CVT's on this car can exceed 300K kms with proper maintenance (according to an independent suzuki garage I know of). Shocks and bushes fail well before the cvt will.
  4. These aren't the only diesels though are they? My crv diesel is quieter at 100km/h than the petrol equivalent. Then there is a range of other European diesels that are more refined than pickups also.
  5. Bu your solar panels were not free right? After how long do they pay for themselves? If I owned an EV I'd probably get them, but out bill these days is just 4-5K a month, so not really worth it at this time.
  6. Yes, as long as there is a doc certificate stating they had covid.
  7. Covid will drag on for years in Thailand....I'm still waiting to chat it and get some of that good ole natural immunity! Taking precautions like this is slowing the process of developing immunity. Sure, if you are in a high risk group ake precautions. But children and healthy adults will mostly survive infection, and will result in long term immunity.
  8. The nasal swab appears to work better than the saliva test, also. A couple of co-workers were infected last week - the saliva tests were showing negtive, but positive after a nasal swab a little while afterwards. One worker appeared to have developed symptoms only a few hours after suspected exposure to someone else who had tested positive. Incubation period seems very short and symptoms come on fast. They tested negtive 5-6 days later. Both had quite different symptoms though....just FYI.
  9. He should have walked, it would have been much faster. That's why he asked 300 baht.. A colleague of mine took 2 hours to drive less than a few hundred meters in that area during this event. Fortunaely I chose to leave that area in the opposite direction. The place was gridlocked and a result of poor traffic management coupled with way too many cars.
  10. In Thailand it depends on the school/institution. Many students drop out, or "reture" as they like to say, as they cannot cope. We have also sent out students from my school after m3, as they generally were failing all subjects up until that point (regardless of the fact they graduated with a 1.0 gpa, or 50%. Schools don't "need" to keep students after m3, as m3 is the end of compulsory education.
  11. Yes beause every Thai in Nakorn Nowhere has full sound insulation throughout their homes (which are mostly shacks). Welcome to the platform newbie. The unwritten rule is to turn it down after midnight. Pity the Brit didn't kno this, or was just being an a-hole.
  12. Look up "Boro pat" on youtube if you haven't already.
  13. 120km/h on my dial would be about 113-114km/h on a gps/police radar. cruising at 120 always keeps me well below the real speed.
  14. I've actually never had a problem asking questions with a Thai doctor (and I've seen many). But if you are questioning their ability, I would understand they would become uncomfortable.
  15. If you go to the facebook link, these ads are for condos all over Bangkok.
  16. Does Australia export lithium? Australia is the world's largest lithium exporter. It was responsible for more than half of global production last year. About 80% of the lithium dug up in Australia is used to make rechargeable batteries and this proportion is expected to reach 90% as EVs become popular. and.. Does Australia have more lithium than China? According to Statistica, Australia produces 55 per cent of the world's lithium, while China bought over 90 per cent of the country's lithium this year based on figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

    Thai beef

Australian pork is by and large, smelly and disgusting. Thai pork is a delight by comparison.
  18. Are you isolating from your wife? Be careful if you are not. My wife had it for the second time last week. She ust had a dry and a bit of a sore throat and fatigue. Nothing else and tested negative after a few days. Her first bout was more intense but still manageable. I've not had it and haven't worn masks for 6 months - only occasionally at work but not often. Diarrhea is a common side effect of omicron infection and can be dangerous if it causes dehydration and one does not take adequate fluids (the sore throat may make it painful even to drink).
  19. Ban bike rentals and have good and cheap public transport to all/most parts of the island. Bike should only be rented to those with bike licences from their home country. Even that may not save some of them, though, given the driving style of the locals.
  20. She would get a base salary, and a "position payment" for being Director. Probably similar to what my wife used to get in her government position. Her salary will increase, but it would hit a ceiling, and then would require more traning/masters/PhD to get to higher levels. My wife was C9 for many years but it took her close to 20 years to get to that level.
  21. I assume that's before the engine blew:) Most mighty-x's of this year are advertised for 80K or less. Would it be worth to sell it as is and upgrade a few years to a hilux vigo? Unless the rest of your pickup is in great condition, this may be a better option.
  22. I know the head unit can be unlocked in Honda's. But not by the dealer. I've seen it advertised in some honda groups. I think it's about 2000 baht. Failing that, you can change the head unit to one that does allow movies to be played.
  23. More and more Thais are not wearing masks now. I ditched masks in October. Noone even gives me a second look now. And they don't dare say anything.
  24. So, as a healthy person, must wear a mask because someone else may get sick and will verhy highly unlikely end up in hospital? Give it a break mate. If you are vulnerable, it is YOU who should take precautions. Why should millions be inconveniences because a few may have a bad outcome?
