  1. More and more Thais are not wearing masks now. I ditched masks in October. Noone even gives me a second look now. And they don't dare say anything.
  2. So, as a healthy person, must wear a mask because someone else may get sick and will verhy highly unlikely end up in hospital? Give it a break mate. If you are vulnerable, it is YOU who should take precautions. Why should millions be inconveniences because a few may have a bad outcome?
  3. Yes...same as at my school, ALL teachers and students need to submit an atk on Sunday, the day before shcooll starts. Apparently due to the SURGE in cases (which, in reality, is just a blip on the radar). This is a complete joke. Yet all thsee kids cram into shops and restaurants after school....wearing no masks!
  4. I'm waiting to see if the Chinese built tesla's are better built than the US ones...their reputation is not so crash hot.
  5. Hyundai and Kia are popular in Australia, but they can barely sell any in Thailand. They tried, but weren't successful.
  6. I don't think Sirirat is cheap, even for Thais. I've been there a few times but Im covered under my wife's civil servant medical benefits scheme. It's a very busy hospital, and will only go there if I get antoher kidney stone. I use local government hospitals for other things - all very cheap and don't pay for the meds.
  7. I had michelin ps3 then ps4 on our swift. It was amazing in the wet. It drove like there was no water on the road. The trade-off was tire noise. After those, we changed to toyo cr-1 which was a good compromise. It was my wife;s car to, so no real need for sports tires, as she doesn't drive fast. Anothe good tire for quietness and comfort is yokohama db 552, though I've not personlly used them.
  8. I want to see if thye have the durability and resale of a toyota or honda after a 10 year period. I will wait this one out for at least another 10 years, before even considering a Chinese ev.
  9. You would know that then of the reports of the ora goot cat literally getting "stuck in the mountains" because its battery overheated!
  10. The wr-v is quite small and less than 1200kg. It's much different than the cr-v. Hybrid are much more economical in city driving as they are powered more by electric than by petrol. I once went is a friends honda accord hybid. When we started to get stuck in traffic the fuel economy went up. MY crv diesel gets 16km/l average, up t 22-23km/l on the highway (20km/l is easy to achieve). You can get a relatively new one for 800-900K baht now. O think the mid spec civic hybrid is a good buy. I would get one of those if I didnt need the high riding position of a crv. I think that is about 1.1m baht.
  11. Changing these particular tires won't make it more comfortable. The same with the suspension components. For noise, try full floor insulation from an audio shop, and some fully fitted floor mats on top of that.
  12. Probably more to do with westerners being generally terribly unhealthy in the US and UK. Metabolic syndrome and obesity is rampant in those countries. One hospitalised, far more of them were dying when compared to those in Thailand. Masks have nothing to do with this situation. Just try to control the spread of measles with standard masks. It doesn't work. The same for omicron.
  13. Whats your budget? The new crv hybrid rs as a 2wd seems good value to me. I have a diesel crv, but won't be selling it for the new one. The honda hr-v and mzda cx-30 get you about 10 sec 0-100. The 1.8 cross is not that far behind to be honest. Its mainly the new ev's and some hybrids that give good acceleration. The toyota hybrids seem to emphasise fuel economy more.
  14. How deep are you willing to go? I have a crv and it deals well enough with any floods I've come across. And vastly more comfortable than a pickup truck. The little honda wr-v has 220mm of clearance, as much as most pickup trucks.
  15. You think Thailand is "violent"? Is this a joke? But I won't mention certain other countries in comparison.
  16. Did they actually state that as the reason for rejection?
  17. No so either. We tested several students for entrace to M4 (EP), and they were all hopeless. None were accepted. The bulk of our students are in primary school. Generally out best students leave at the end of m3 to other "better" schools. And better dould just mean "have better food". lol
  18. Do you honestly think there will be no autopsy done, either here or in Australia? A severe beating will be evident. Or was he "made" to hang himself? Let's just wait to see is there is any actual cctv footage. And where were his mates? Stoned in some bar somewhere? This guy was just looking for trouble and he found it. Tourists should really learn to fly under the radar like the rest of us.
  19. I don't know if he came for the tats, but he certainly was enjoying the ganja on his holiday, based on his facebook posts. Given that weed is know to increase suicidal thoughts, it doesn't seem out of the question that suicide is actually what occurred.
  20. History and geography is in the Thai curriculum actually...but not a lot, and most of it is loca/asean. A bit on Australia as well. My son is interested in history, but had to take courses on The Greek and Roman empires in his first year of university.
  21. What's wrong with that? Most of the world's population don't when where their next meal comes from, or live pay check to paycheck. Maybe you should think before you speak.
  22. Matching paint can be difficult, especially on older cars. So it makes sense to get a full respray. We had that done on a suzuki swift a while back, but the following year, that insurance company refused to cover us lol. No big loss. After that we made just 2 more claims on the car. In both cases, the could not match the paint exactly (I suspect when the full respray was done, it was a slightly different mix, so when they did the other insurance jobs, the paint didnt match.
  23. Im aware of one recent death. A 23 y.o. woman attended a meeting in Bangkok. Apparently already infected...she stayed in her room and didn't seek treatment. She was healthy with no co-morbidities. It seems she may have had severe diarrhea (the family did not request an autopsy), which has been reported as a symptom of covid elsewhere (saw reports from China about that). So I guess this is a "covid-related" death as reported in the OP article.
