  1. Never heard of liver flukes? They are common in raw and undercooked crabs, fish, shellfish. Perhaps it explins why Thailand had one of th highest rates of liver cancer in the world....it not just thelao khao!
  2. Undiagnosed heart disease can take lives of sports men and women. So it can't be ruled out, unless he has regular heart checks.
  3. Has there been any change in performance? Do you often drive in the city or on long runs on the highway? Perhaps the dpf is starting to clog up a bit. The "best" b7 is "premium b7", but you don't need that for your car. I assume you are not using premium b7 though. You could try solething like HKS direct deposit remover, or somethign similar. I've seen some companies actually removing the dpf and cleaning it. But of course, there could be other reasons for poor consumption. What does the dealer say?
  4. You have a ptoblem with holidays? Ask government school teachers how long their holidays are (10 days + publicholidays). Private schools are different (about 8-9 weeks + publich holidays...chillin lol)
  5. Connections with immigration smooths her work, surely. You want a retirement visa easy? No problems!
  6. The wont...and don't, have natural immunity though. Immunity in the population builds up over time. The xbb.1.5 variant has been detected in China, which largely escapes vaccines and past infections. So don't expect their waves of infection to be over anytime soon.
  7. Ask the dealer and a few tents to make an offer. You will then want to sell it privately. My wife rcently got a new honda city. The dealer offered 140-150K for our suzuki swift. Sold it privately to one of her colleagues for 280K. Dealers and tents will shaft you. It's easy to sell to a dealer/tent, but how much of a loss are you willing to accept?
  8. The standard masks do little to nothing for the current variants. Just look at China, Japan and South Korea.
  9. You could get it again regardless of visitors. There are literally hundreds of variants. It appears the xbb (probably others too) evades the immunity given by infection with past variants. You should not be concerned if you are not in a high risk group.
  10. What percentage will turn positive when they leave, as they may have been or turned positive when they arrive. If they are positive on arrival, and stay a week ore more, they may be negative when they leave (but the damage is already done). New arrivals from large cities are likley to be currently infected - millions in these cities are currently infected, and these are the cities that Thailand is targeting for tourism.
  11. The next flip flop will come when 50% of the tourists come off the plane coughing and spluttering eveywhere. If they are asked to test in the airport, and are positive? Then what? Or will they be allowed out and jump in a taxi? I guess they haven't thought about that yet.
  12. Jabs compromise the immune system? I assume you have read research papers that demonstrate this (not just correlative papers. This virus mutates so fast, that vaccines are virtually useless now. I'm done with them. What is worse is continual mask wearign when it is completely unnecessary. The lack of exposure to pathogens means the immune system is not beign stimulated. The few people know who have caught the common cold recently got hit hard (more than they normally experience).
  13. You think? Wait to see. He will go down for a long stretch. This was a serious crime, not like jumping a red light.
  14. Good job! Someonereclaimed near my village and they have raised the road over a meter above the road level (which sould be safe against another 2011 flood). Not sure what they will build there.
  15. The timber floors in my wife's family place are probably close to 100 years old. They are hard as a rock. Never had to treat for termites! I doubt that type of timber can be bought anywhere now, unless it's old used timber. The house is defnitely cooler that our brick/stone place. Only in the day it gets hot upstairs but being timber and not that well insulated it cools very fast (unlike concrete).
  16. The land can still erode even on a straight part. This happened to the families Land which is on the Mae klong river (the one that runs through Kanchanaburi to Ratchaburi). For better or worse, they has to sell that land (I couldn't afford to buy it off them, sadly). The new owners have cleared and grassed it. They will need to build a retaining wall to stop the loss of soil, which is quite expensive. Havng said that, this river has never flooded the local houses. So for the OP it will depend on the location of the house relative to the river. Some areas arevery low lying and flood annually, such as Ayutthaya.
  17. The latest variants are escaping the immunity from previous infection and vaccinations. Nothing will stop you getting infected with them, but severity of symptoms should be less. The Chinese are getting hammered as they have no natural immunity at all and low vaccination rates off the elderly with a low quality vaccine. I see them going through several waves this year as new variants pass through their country. If I was Chinese, I'd be trying to get out of there as well. Flights are currently limited from China, so massive numbers won't be seen just yet. But expect large numbers to be infected and walking around the community (until o sich they turn up at a hospital). I hope they are required to have insurance or deep pockets.
  18. One of my students did this. He studied in my Thai school (Englsh program). He went on to study at Assumption University, then did a Masters in the UK. He got a job at a local international school (not top tierm but quite good enough). The school and sother teachers know he is part Thai and speaks Thai. He never speaks Thai to the students. As far as I'm aware, he would be using his Thai passport to work here (so no yearly extensions). What helped him get the job was the UK Masters, so I would not expect a high salary without foreign qualifications - regardless of what passport you use. Also, Thais don't need a work permit - but they still need teaching qualifications (or in the process of getting them). Foreign teachers do to, or need to do a teachign course while they are teachign with a provisional work permit). This is for teaching in k-12 schools. So this is another issue to address.
  19. Like when my relatives used to say to me when I was a kid "children shoud be seen and not heard". They aren't Thai.
  20. How much soil would you plan to add? It's quite expensive to do that. My wife put 100K baht of soil onto 2 rai of land,. The increase in land level was quite small. We still need to add a lot more if we plan to put a house on it (the brother-in-law lieves next door), so we need it up to about that height. It could cost several hundred thouand to increase the level significantly. I would recommend a house on stilts, or a house with a significantly raised bottom floor (so several steps up into the house....and a raised parking area. If you have a pool or a pond, that dug soil could be used to raise the land also. I dont think the land flooding is a big problem; you just dont want water in your house or vehicles.
  21. Mine was 1310cc. Modified engine. fast enough to keep me out of trouble, but not so fast to get me into too much trouble. The brakes were horrible so that kept me to reasonable speeds. It liked to cruise about 130km/h topped out close to 160 (only ever did that speed once - it was frightening!).
  22. I doubt those travellers were tested. Hence the high percentage. Who will foot the bill if hundeds of Chinese turn up at Thai hospitals looking for treatment?
  23. Private schools certainly don't have to provide access to SSO for their teachers. We pushed very hard for this, and not have it, but the teacher pays the full amount (school contributes nothing - scumbags). I did not join as I have another fund.
