  1. Just go to Bquik, cockpit, or some other similar outlet. Avoid the dealer at all costs. There are many reputable brands out there so I dont think you need genuine MB items.
  2. Even spare tires degrade over time, manufacturers recommend they be replaced also. I doubt anyone does that though.
  3. Medical students often use english books in Thailand. I know of my my past students studied to be a pharmacist and used lots of pharmacy books in english. Now working in a private hospital here. So I suspect that their english comprehension is much more advanced than speaking/listening for the most part. Having said that, I've had no problems talking with any doctor or dentist in Bangkok and surrounds.
  4. That's what I was implying. OBSERVE the qualityof the tire during it's lifespan. ANY brand of tire used on Thai roads will be rock hard by 10 years and well past their useby date. I value my life over a few thousand lousy baht saved.
  5. What has air pressure got to do with tread depth? If yu like to drive with barely no tread, I don't care. If you are such a cheap charlie it will be your problem if you tires delaminate at speed. Noone here will have any sympathy for you.
  6. So you are sayng to drive slowly in the rain when you have 3mm or less tread left? 3mm is the recommended min tread depth, but in Thailand I've never let my tires get to this level, not with the sudden downpours that can occur here.
  7. A vegetarian colleague has high cholesterol....probably from the daily eggs she eats and high car intake. Excessive sugar is known to increase LDL (the "bad" small particle LDL).
  8. Did the manufacturer consider the tropical climate and heat in Thailand? I've had my michelins on my crv for close to 4 years and 50K kms. They have surface fine cracks on the outer edge of each tire. They may be good for another 10-20K kms, probably no more. But 10 years? I don't think they'd last that long as the rubber hardens over time and dry grip reduces. I'd rather follow my observations of the tire quality and performance (braking, noise), rather than what is stated on the box. I've also replaced some tires as 40K kms when it was obvious they were becoming noisy and hard.
  9. Keep dreaming ...lol Tesla is at the bottom. https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-placed-bottom-consumer-reports-reliability-rankings/?utm_campaign=gs-2020-11-23&utm_source=google&utm_medium=smart_campaign&gclid=Cj0KCQiAqOucBhDrARIsAPCQL1aUOdiHiuHqcPHfjb-Ik-LX2fgtBpESZIQZUz36RN-etIXIgMs4rFMaArrTEALw_wcB
  10. US tesla reliability is poor. Hopefully Chinese made ones are better. Toyota destroys tesla for reliability.
  11. A recent article in the Thai press suggested that the arrival of Tesla will significantly reduce the second hand prices of European cars here. They may be some good deals to be had for them next year.
  12. The top tesla model y is some 600K baht more than the equivalent in China. I'd also hope prices will decrease, but that is likely to be across the board for all EV's.
  13. We've repaired various small self-inflicted dents on cars here. We have first class insurance. The payment was about 1000 baht / damage. it really didn't affect our following yearly insurance payments. Also, unless it's major damage, I'd in future avoid resprays. Sometimes you will see the paint does not perfectly match (our blue car was hard to match correctly - from 2 shops). It's better to pull small dents out if possible and touch up stone chips.
  14. I think that it's possible (I did read about that sometime ago). You should contact those schools to confirm your son can register and sit the exam with the students of that school.
  15. They would have had lifetime licences at their age (my wife has one and she is 60). So there are no legal checks at all for older person's driving comptence here. They can drive until something like this happens or their family stops them from driving out of concern for their safety. Nothing to do with corruption.
  16. I feel a lot of their mods are due to dpf's failing and it costs to much to repair/repace the dpf. It seems to be a problem with this model. I wouldn't mind it if they can can tune it to be smokeless. There's nothing more antisocial and polluting than black smoke billowing out of a car. No point going EV with such cars on the road.
  17. you wont get much out of a petrol engine unless you turbo it.
  18. There isn't much choice for budget newish 2 door cars here. The civic has been a 4 door for a long time. The last 2 door civic was about year 1999-2000. The new civic turbo / hybrid is fast enough for Thai roads. My wife just got a city turbo and it goes well (much better than our previous swift), and much bigger inside. It can be remapped and run 0-100 under 7 seconds. We won't be doing that though.
  19. Some garages do swaps on the swift by putting in the swift sport engine in it.
  20. remap a diesel mazda 2+ full exhaust and tune. its good for 130-140hp.
  21. You can't just kill someone in Thailand that enters (unarmed), into your property. There is no "srand your ground" law here. This is the law. Deadly force could be used if the intruder was armed with a gun.
  22. Most qualified teachers here now are non-native speakers. The native speakers where either grapdfatherered (for the full teaching licence), got qualified, left the country, or found some other way to get a work permit. 5% of the teachers in my school are native speakers (all qualified except 1), and most work in the upper high school. 20 years ago it was close to 100%. Plenty of trash teachers have come and gone...mostly native speakers employed through an agency. Note this is a private school and we really do not have the problems that plague the OP's school and many other schools here. Certainly there are few discipline problems and my work submission is close to 100% and on time. There are better schools out there...
