Do you do 15 k kms a year as well as the op? The savings are a lot less over an ecocar that gets 18-20 km/l or a hybrid.

Most of the Thai teachers in my school teach either art, PE, Thai language or social. No, they don't work harder than the foreign teachers in terms of teaching and lesson preparation. To make up for that they end up having to do plenty of bs jobs like lunch duty or some other paperwork or endless meetings. This is a private school btw. Without the foreign teachers, there would be no school.

Well I haven't worn a mask for months, and I'm far from an "anti-masker". I wore it when it was deemed necessary. I deem it not necessary now - just look a the official covid numbers. I would wager more are dying from pneumonia in hospitals or the flu.

If you were me - what would you do: Poll

I've never driven any of those. However, you may also want to consider the suzuki ertiga hybrid. My wife owned a suzuki swift until recently and it was dirt cheap and reliable to run (much cheaper than the hondas we now own, in terms of sevice costs). https://www.suzuki.co.th/model/ertiga The only way to really know what you like to to test drive all of them. -
Covid Count Reaches Around 2,800-3,889 A Day In Thailand
DavisH replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Given th low number of cases in Thailand at the moment, I don't see a case for marge scale mask wearing. Ok, for those immuno-compromised or the elderly. But for most people, no. Mask wearing rates haven't change a lot, and cases continue to decrease. We went though large waves with mask wearing rates the same. Waves will come and go regardless of future waves. Omicron is at communicable as measles. No regular mask will be significantly effective in reducing its spread. I've not worn a mask outside / in shops for a couple of months - people go maskless in packed restaurants, night clubs are full....yet covid rates are low. But the psychological damage caused by government's responses to the pandemic linger. -

lol..closer to 1% I suspect...3-4K "estimated" cases a day is almost nothing and I bet the regular flu has more cases. -
They may have come in infected, and holidayed and then recovered. Then tested negative on departure. Covid ripped through China where most people in large cities became infected ina short period of time. I would wager a large number have been infected and recovered before they travelled. As it is, we really don't know as they are not testing all arrivals.

The rest may have drums or the rear if they are oldder models. This must be the only regular pickup in Thailand that has rear discs. -
Do I go on a Diet or follow this Expat advice .
DavisH replied to tomgreen's topic in Health and Medicine
Do you have any health conditions? Have a compete health check first, including a blood workup and heart checkup. If everything is fine, just eat healthful foods and get some exercise every day (or 5 days a week at least). 30 mins a day. I would start here first, before going of a diet. And if you go on a diet, can you maintain it over a long time span? -
It should be no problem getting another motor for it. How aaabout getting a quote for rebuilding the current engine?
-
Is it the k20 engine model, or the first generation 1.8? The engine swap is quite cheap actually. It will be a second hand motor but should be OK. They should give some kind of warranty with it. You won't get much for a non-functional car, so it probably needs fixing anyway. If its a k20, how about get a k24 from an accord and put it in? It would cost more but it would have more grunt.

2023 Toyota Yaris Ativ vs Honda City
DavisH replied to loginwith's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
The part you quote is for the civic 1.0 turbo. It has a different engine. Code. But is the timing belt different? I can't seem to find the part code for the P10A6. The prices I quoted are from the service schedule on the Honda website. I would be shocked if you use non genuine parts from China. -

I've seen these ridiculous prices. Most of it is labour charges. In Thailand the timing belt should be replaced every 100K kms (so cetrainly Honda TH recognises it should be replaced). The belt is 1040 baht. Total service charge at 200K kms is 11153 baht and 8961 baht at 100k kms. Nearly 5K is for labour so its a faily big job to do. -

I suspect the queue (for delievery) may be quite long for the yaris. Normally you will need to make a booking for a test drive. Fortunately, we got a test drive when we took our crv for a service. There was a queue, but the first customer hadn't arrived at that time. Aside from delivery time, also consider what discounts there are, interest rates, and freebies. I also recommend getting a cermaic coating and also under coating, whatever you get. Our dealer does both of them when we get the service (same for the crv). -

2023 Toyota Yaris Ativ vs Honda City

My wife has a city turbo. It's quite fast and could do with a brake/pad upgrade. Hard acceleration and you will ehar the 3 cylinder thrum. But its not that annoying. But higher speeds its fairly quiet. It could do with more insulation though, as sound creeps into the cabin. That could be done at an audio shop. We got the city in 10 days from booking to delivery. It was the only honda that could be delivered quickly...the others were waiting due to chip shortages. I've not seen any reports in city facebook pages about problems with the turbo/gearbox. The main complaint I've seen is the paint chippign easily from stones. Early cars had small rust problems here and there. I haven't seen that on my car. I've not driven the ativ so can't comment on it. By reports, it has more gadets so ma represent better value for money for some people. But the acceleration, as one would expect, lags behind the city. The brakes are btter on the ativ, as it has rear disc (unless one gets the city hev) -
