  1. Take your son's original Thai birth certificate and house book and also his mother and her Thai ID card. No need to wait for his Thai passport.

Your son will be able to get a 1 year extension of stay on the basis of being a Thai national. It will cost you 1,900 baht. Technically you need to do a TM30 and 90 Day reports for him.

The only way to resolve this is to fly out and then back in to Thailand, and use his Thai passport to enter the country next time.

How do these four icons affect 'Member's total reputation'? Is there for example, one point added whatever the icon, or does it vary depending on the icon selected?

Each Like, Thanks and Haha received increases your total reputation count by 1 point. Confused and Sad are neutral, and neither increase or decrease your reputation count.

If the Father is registered on the birth certificate, for which a passport copy is required, that is proof of legitimisation. Therefore, gives the Father the right to have his child travel out of Thailand with him, so I have been told....

You are completely incorrect in almost everything you have said.

I accept that when you posted you were trying to help others. Now you know your post is absolutely incorrect please do not post the same factually incorrect information again.

As I am sure you can appreciate the legitimacy of a child is a most serious matter and it is not something where incorrect advice should be repeated.

Is there any point in deactivating the card via the App (can on my SCB) if the card could be cloned anyway ??

Wou;d it stop a cloned card actually working ??  No idea personally ??

If you temporarily lock your card via the app then your card will not work at all. You will not be able to use it for buying things in a shop; you will not be able to use it to buy things online and you will not be able to use it in an ATM until you unlock the card.

A cloned card would be also be unable to be used.

  5. You can give way even though you have the right of way, or you can drive on and damage your car.

You would end up with your car in the repair garage most of the time, with no replacement car provided.

You will not effect any change in other people's driving habits by taking this course of action; instead you will inconvenience yourself and possibly end up raising your insurance premiums.

Apart from the yearly charge for the card...

Generally, there is a spending threshold. Spend more than the threshold and the annual fee is waived.

This will of course be a factor in deciding if obtaining a credit card is worthwhile.

The OP works here, so he might be able to put work expenditure on his card and then reclaim through expenses. That can make a card very worthwhile.

  7. You normally pay an initial fee on being issued the credit card, which varies from card to card. Annually thereafter there is a separate fee, however if you spend over a certain amount during the previous year the annual fee is waived.

The application fee, annual fee and the spending threshold to be exempted from the annual fee are clearly posted on the various bank websites.

As an example, the SCB My Travel credit card has a 3,000 baht fee immediately after the card is granted, and a 3,000 baht annual fee thereafter. However if you spend 300,000 baht on the card during the year then the next annual fee is waived.

  8. If anyone has menus and pricing for Christmas Day lunch and dinner in Bangkok please post your information here. Please only post Western menus here.

Photos of menus/posters or links to websites will be really helpful. Prices, and whether they are ++ is also going to be really helpful.

I'll start with the offering from the Robin Hood pub at the junction of Sukhumvit Road and Soi 33/1.

995 baht for 3 courses, including VAT. No service charge.

  9. You might be better considering a usufruct for life.

Your wife can always sell the land, but with a usufruct on the land then it is unlikely anyone would pay much for it.

Even if the land was sold, your usufruct would remain intact.

If you die before your wife then your usufruct would be extinguished and she would be able to remove the usufruct and sell the land free of encumbrance.
