    Thanks all.

Next question: What's the best/easiest way to get from the embassy to the MFA? Taxi?

One option is to use the BTS to go to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat. Take this exit and you will be at the correct taxi rank:

There are always taxis arriving and departing at this location. From here it is one straight road to your destination.

Note: Make sure the driver doesn't default to taking you to Immigration Building B, which is where they take foreigners 99 per cent of the time.

  2. I use Express Translation next to BTS Ploen Chit. Very easy to get to from BTS St Louis if you use the skytrain.

I recently paid 3,000 baht for the same service you require: Translation and Legalisation of a notarised copy of my passport.

Be aware that the MFA operates an online queue system and there can be a bit of a bottleneck, so don't be too surprised if you are quoted a 2-3 week turnaround.

Take your original passport with you to the translation company.

Neither do they allow links to their publications. 4. I can see AI being used for diagnosing illness, where the ai is using a series of answers provided by the patient along with results of examinations and tests.

I can imagine some kind of ai that is wirelessly connected to a blood pressure machine, a thermometer, weighing scales, blood analysis machine, etc.

This sort of first line health care might be developed and trialled in developing countries where the options might be ai or nothing.

One machine and a heslthcare assistant trained to draw blood and operate the machine would be all you need. A healthcare assistant is considerably cheaper and quicker to train than a doctor or a nurse.

Diagnoses could be confirmed by a doctor anywhere in the world.

The ai would get to train in the real world and improve itself until its results were equal or better than humans, at which point they would start to appear in the developed world.

I think "generalist" jobs that use sets of questions and various information to produce a result are at risk, and not just in the field of medicine.

Specific and unique jobs such as surgeon are out of reach of ai for now. I don't think expensive hospitals are going anywhere for a long time, just the diagnostic equipment and processes they use will inevitably change.

But let's see. Maybe the flaw in my thinking is that ai will be able to design advanced surgery robots...

I am very skeptical about this story. It is pretty easy to photoshop up an ID card like that.  The rules are that you can choose a new surname that is not in already in use.  First, middle names and surnames must have meaning in the Thai dictionary and must be deemed appropriate and polite by the district office official. It is pretty obvious that neither of these names would pass either of those tests. I have been to the district office to reserve a Thai name while applying for Thai citizenship and it was clear that they take the rules very seriously and wouldn't allow nonsense names like that.

The picture is not photoshopped. Here is the man himself:

There is a story in the Bangkok Post about this, which unfortunately due to BP rules I cannot link to.

However the following story is about the same man changing his name back to his original name:

The Surin man who made headlines last year for failing to live up to his name, Mr. Heangjobhappylife Makelifebetter, when he got arrested for petty theft, has decided to ditch his unique name.

Sanan Warinthrawat, the sheriff of Muang Surin district, said that Makelifebetter came into the district office on Tuesday to change his name back to Saen Soisoongnern, as given by his parents, after he had trouble spelling his own name, according to Daily News.

Trouble spelling his own name. You can't make this sort of stuff up.

Thailand has an extradition treaty since 1999. Nowadays Thailand has signed Extradition treaties with 14 countries, including the United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Norway, China, South Korea, India, Poland, Peru, Australia, Sri Lanka, Belgium and Ukraine.

I thought France and China didn't allow extradition of their own citizens.

  7. First thing to do is clarify if the sprinkler system in your condo is common property or not.

Generally, well built condos will have a floor control valve on each floor. Closing the valve will isolate the entire floor from the fire sprinkler system.

The entire zone will then need to be drained before work will commence.

As this is a life safety issue the juristic person would normally require a properly insured and equipped company to undertake such works, as all property in the disabled zone needs to be protected with temporary fire suppression equipment while works are carried out.

After, the system will need to be tested and recertified.

I guarantee you this will not be cheap if the company is trustworthy.

Sorry to hear of your difficulties.

The full new state pension is now just over £10,600 a year, or £203.85 a week

Anyone who reached state pension age before April 2016 gets £8,122 a year, or £156.20 a week
