But from the single window (web portal that combines BOI, immigration, and DoE) you can download a PDF of the digital WP.  Not sure whether showing your phone would work, but it's easy to get a pdf.  The PDF also has a QR code on it so maybe banks etc can scan that code.

That sounds just the job for those that still need the paper copies.

I really, really hope this is rolled out for the rest of those who apply for an extension of stay based on working for a company in Thailand.

  2. This is great stuff, and a step in the right direction. What I want to know is how is the rest of Thailand going to catch up? What happens when you want to:

    Open a bank account

    Apply for a driving license

Get a postpaid mobile phone contract

Access the services of a government department who require a copy of your work permit

How do any of these people who always ask for a copy of your work permit deal with it? Do they expect you to photocopy your phone, or can you download a pdf of the work permit?

If anyone has any experience of this, please let us know.

I asked if over payments are calculated daily and the bank quickly said yes and couldn’t wait to get my wife to sign it.

What you are told means nothing. What matters is what the contract states in writing. You need to ask the bank to point out the relevant clause in the contract and have someone with a knowledge of Thai contracts translate for you.

  4. In Thailand, a lot of places ask for a "certified copy". This is achieved by signing the copy, the idea being it works as some kind of basic fraud prevention.

Sometimes you may see this ink stamp used as well:

  5. I have 144,000+ Thai airways miles. I want to redeem the miles for a round trip business class ticket from Bangkok to London.

Question is, which is the better choice: A Thai airways flight that costs 130,000 miles or a Star Alliance flight that costs 144,000 miles?

Service levels, comfort, lounge access and any cash payment required for taxes or any other charge could be considered.

Your opinions and expert advice please.

  6. In Thailand a police report does not automatically mean anything will be done. Quite often a police report is used as a way to record a matter of fact or a version of events.

Charges normally only happen if the police are petitioned to act by the complainant.

  7. You can take the matter to the Administrative Court. It will be costly and it will take quite some time.

The question is, if the matter is investigated, can your girlfriend prove that she paid for the land purchase from her own funds? Did she actually have that kind of money in her bank account before she met you?

If she did, what was her reason to buy land then give a foreigner the rights to the land for many years (or possibly for your lifetime)? Could she explain why she spent her own money in this way? Economically, it has to make sense. Remember that she will tell the truth about this if she is questioned.

If she didn't have the money to purchase the land before she met you then it does look like proxy ownership, which is not allowed.

Would a 30 year lease work for you?

current thai shareholder is also director without signature rights.

As I explained, the majority shareholder can easily change this any time he wants. There is nothing you can legally do to stop him.

so i'm in control of banking.

You do not control anything: You manage the banking until the majority shareholder decides otherwise.

I want to raise additional capital for a 4th thai shareholder that i trust.

I don't think you understand: You cannot dilute the shares unless the majority shareholder agrees.

  9. We have many different brands and sizes of air purifier. What I have found is that I cannot tolerate a machine on the highest setting as it is too noisy for me. The solution that works for me is to get a machine double or triple the capacity required for the volume of air in the room then keep the machine on the lowest fan setting.

This keeps the noise down to a level that I am comfortable with.

  10. Thank you all for your help.

I think I have a candidate. Would this be a suitable electrical replacement? (I have checked the physical size and it will fit in the recessed hole in the wall).

A link to the manufacturer's data sheet is below. On the datasheet the product is called a RACD07-700:
