How is that better? In a land of uncertainty- if you had plans to build a house straddling a boundary line, wouldn’t it make perfect sense to officially join the two plots? 6k .. an hour at the land office and your good to go.

The house I live in is built over two equally sized plots. The same owner owns both plots and the house on top. They could have joined the plots together but they never bothered.

  3. The second issue you may have is that if you import a child's toy then Thai customs may require a Thai TIS number to allow the shipment to be released. To get a TIS number you have to submit a representative set of samples to an accredited Thai laboratory for inspection and testing. You have to pay for this, and also for the application and certification.

Considering the item involves the use of a naked flame, combustible material, a pressure vessel holding steam at 1.5 bar, unguarded hot metal parts, unguarded moving metal parts, the emission of steam vapour and handling hydrocarbon contaminated water then testing is going to be expensive and may well be destructive.

If what you are importing is a model not intended for the use of a child then you will not need a TIS number.

So for all practical purposes the answer is no...

Under these conditions, why on earth would anyone want to?  A foreigner would need to have an absolute burning and unassuageable desire to own a piece of land in Thailand to do this. There are very few 1 rai plots of land that will massively increase in value in the short to medium term unless you are looking at very specialist plots in the Sukhumvit and Sathorn areas of Bangkok where you will be paying 1-2 million baht per square wah (7,500 - 15,000 USD per square meter, with a minimum purchase of 1,600 square meters). Personally I would imagine that is not most people's idea of a long term investment of 12-25 million USD. Especially as the purchase would not guarantee your right to enter or reside in Thailand on a permanent basis.

For those with that kind of money there are some really nice condos in Bangkok in the 125 million baht (3-5 million USD) range. If people want a garden at any cost it would be cheaper to buy 2 of these units, live in one and plant grass seed in the other.

For everyone else I think it's a case of dream on...

Google tells me 47kms, so in reality just a gimmick similar to the Volvo.

As you know, in the real world you won't get 47kms.

Where the electric engine is nice is when you are stuck in traffic. The engine isn't running and you can inch forward using electric power, which is nice.

I don't know about the Accord, but the CRV runs just fine on E20. Current cost to fill up a nearly empty tank with E20 is 1,800 baht.

Thanks for your opinion, being a short <deleted> the higher driving position leans me towards the CRV but currently not available as Hybrid which leans me towards the Accord.

Don't do many long trips, mostly daily commute around the outskirts of BKK, but i do like Golf and DIY so storage space is a consideration.

I occasionally drive a Volvo XC90 hybrid. The hybrid engine is very nice, but to be honest the battery lasts for something like 30 kilometres. It's like the hybrid engine is more of a gimmick than anything else.

What's the range of the Accord electric engine?

  7. I've never driven an Accord, but I have driven a CRV quite a bit. The CRV is ok and I like the higher driving position. The CRV is easy to drive and it has decent acceleration for use about town in Bangkok. There is plenty of space to fit luggage/cargo, which is handy.

I'm not sure I would want to do a lot of long distance driving in it though.
