  1. You will see Truemove-H 3G

    Means ur on HSPA+ ( 3G+ )

What does it say when you are roaming on the old True 3G network? Or, I suddenly wonder, is the entire old True 3G network completely gone, with old True 3G subscribers roaming on the new 3G+?

I dont know anymore. Does not make sense to me. The old network was a smaller network, on UMTS. the new one is alot alot bigger, and on HSPDA+. (faster). As such, i would envision they are trying to move customers to the new True Move H network. I doubt old True Move network would roam on the new True Move H, but the otherway around makes sense.

Mine usually says Truemove-H 3G... And a few times when i have been in the countryside it has said Truemove-H E this i assume means i am roaming on the old Edge network

But i see no change from the old 3G and the new 3G?...

Also when i first switched to H a couple months ago i saw speeds of around 5mbps... But lately it never goes above 2mbps :(

  2. I think the Duke's deserts are great but I will have to say that I pass on them more times then I buy mainly because the portions are so huge!!!

Maybe offer a low-cal 1/2 sized version

  3. I am confused... Some of you seem to be talking about the standard test to get a CAR drivers license... The OP is referring to MOTORCYCLE license which I thought had a written test and a short motorcycle driving course test?... Isn't that what one needs to do to get a motorcycle license?

  4. I have a Roku 2 HD it's nice but my 3bb 6mb just isn't enough bandwidth...

I am up to sell it to anyone in Chiang Mai ;-) Box and everything - 2K baht

    PM me if interested

Yup. Roku streaming on 3BB 6mb sux. I used that before. Now I am very happy with True Ultra-highspeed interent. I can stream at max resolution.

Maybe U should have a look at True. 699baht + Tax for 10mbps.

Does True Ultra-highspeed internet come into your house via the phone wiring or does it require special cable wiring?

  5. Can you recommend a product that has this and what sort of cost are we looking at?

Also is what you suggest straightforward - "set up RAID 1 array" or do you need to be a network wizard? :D

    I have a LaCie 2GB Network 2

    2big_Network2_frontBack.jpg

It was easy to setup as RAID1 and plugs right into the ethernet slot of my wireless router.

I bought it last year in HKG... Not sure about buying here but a shop in Pantip might have it...

Order online in Thailand at this place off Rama III

  6. After my recent experience I would be very wary of using any "cloud" option.

I have a seedbox with a major company. Last week it was down for 60 hours,

with total loss of data. A rogue, ex-employee, decided to trash the network before he left................

Can you really blame the cloud option for the act of a rogue employee... He could have just as easily have trashed your external drive backup...

Dropbox has a recovery system that would have allowed you to recover all data that was trashed by your employee...

It will also automatically sync data on multiple computers...

Try out their free 2gb space

    DropBox backup http://db.tt/95SB0jA

  7. I would recommend looking for a portable drive that has TWO physical drives in the enclosure...

Then set up RAID 1 array where the two internal drives are mirrored so if one physical drive fails your data is safe on the other drive.

Also look into DropBox which has free Cloud backup http://db.tt/95SB0jA

  8. I have Truemove H... On an IPhone 4 (599/month and the speed is very good)

    Truemove H allows tethering

    http://www.truemove-h.com/helpsupport_apnsettings.aspx#info-product1

Truemove H is postpaid (But they have no long term commitment rules - just month to month)

You can also just buy a Truemove sim at any Big C/Lotus or Mall for 49 baht to try out first

(I would recommend their "Intersim")... with that you can make 1 baht a minute calls Internationally (Prefix 00600)

    http://www.truemove.com/en/Inter-SIM-Prepay.rails

Once you have this set up you can add data plans by sending a text message

(Make sure your phone is topped up with enough money to pay for the chosen plan)

I would recommend starting with the 199 baht 50 hour plan (The 1st 10 hour 3G)

    http://www.truemove.com/en/wifi-edge-gprs-package.htm

The problem you will find with any time based plan is that the IPhone really needs to CONSTANTLY connect to the internet so your time will be gobbled up, usually in the middle of the night, unless you are real good about turning off the data option on your phone...

As to reception/speed: As they say it is a matter of location location location...

  9. I have been having the same problems with 3bb for a few weeks...

I get the screen that says "Connection Reset" (And TV is the worst)... I click on it again and it comes right up... Also sometimes the page comes up but the frame does not load so the page is in disarray - It seems to be the worst at night...

I have tried to get 3bb to fix it but they nice woman doing tech support can never understand (Even when I sent them a screen shot of the problem!)... She then insists on sending a tech to my house (Basically she gives up)... The tech comes and again I can not communicate to him that the issue in INTERMITTENT! and happens mainly at night so he just checks the modem and gives me a polite Thai smile that means "What are you complaining about"...

I'm American so I'll just say my whining is over...

Signed - Patiently trying to download the Lords hymns...

  10. I did hear that Immigration was going to ask for additional proof of income from people that didn't look like they had the means to support themselves. It should only happen to a select few.

Mark Zuckerberg better not show up in his T shirt, jeans and sandals.biggrin.gif

All this dressing up to the hilt for immigration is an urban myth.

As long as you're tidy and not smelly, they don't really care.

And I don't think a visa can be refused on the grounds of BO anyway. wink.gif

I don't understand why some show up in long pants, tie and a shirt...

I would think that immigration might suspect they just came from work :whistling:

  11. I just got back from an overnight weekend in Lampang. We took the train. We took the morning express at 8:45 (There are two types of trains the local & express.... The local(9:20) is basic an free to Thai/20 baht farrang...It is slower as it makes stops and has no assigned seats, no AC and most importantly the seats are made for Thai sized bodies ;-)...) We opted for the earlier 2nd class Express which was 50 baht with AC, assigned seats with reclining seats with padding!...

We arrived at Lampang at just after 11am... There are a bunch of songtows just outside the train station who all charge 20baht a person to go within the city... We went to a wonderful guesthouse right on the river in the Suan Dok area (500 baht a night - Google "riverside guesthouse lampang" make sure to get a room that has a balcony that faces the river)... On Saturday and Sunday nights there is a typical Thai walking street on the street that runs parallel to the river (Thannon Mit Kasem... We had diner at a wonderful Thai place called "Aroy One Baht" which is one block up on the corner of the one way street called Tichang and Mit Kasem (Sit upstairs ;-))... After diner continue away from the river on Mit Kasem and the Horse drawn carriages hang out - 200 baht for a nice 1 hour loop. The hotel also gave us a great map of the city that showed the places to visit - Old Thai styles house across the river and we rented a motorbike and went to a couple Wats too... We returned the next day Sunday on the 6:08 evening train and was back in Chiang Mai at 8:30...

We did it as an overnight but a day trip is very doable.... 8:45 depart & 6:08 return... Songtow to Thannon Mit Kasem, walk down the street cross the river to the UNESCO Wat & Old Thai House come back across the river for late lunch at Aroy One Baht and then a carriage ride...

  12. I got some nice and inexpensive bamboo blinds at Index for sun protection - They look great, I hung them on the 3rd floor balcony Thai style...

The one drawback is that the rain has turned them black from mold (I think any bamboo blind will do the same)

I would like to replace with brown/khaki canvas or even custom wood shutters...
