I'm hoping for more replies. I dislike traveling and can use the saved time for projects here. My double entry tourist visa + extension expires Jan. 29.
Assist Thai Visa is not in the business of going out of the Country for visas...
They are a liaison between you and the LOCAL immigration office in Chiang Mai

I used them for my first Retirement Visa extension...
They made it a 10 minute process - No need to even collect a que ticket!
Worth every penny...

In the Thread Summary Page I wish the second headline in a thread would be on the second line and not just start right after the first bold headline and then wordwrap to the second line...
And in the top right the view new content & teardrop seems to overlap something else?...
Love all those ads...

I think the food is much better at The Duke's, but the ambiance of Steak House is better.
It is always so darn noisy whenever I'm in Duke's. It's no wonder, with those brick walls and crowded conditions. You can barely chat with people at your own table. I wish they put up fabric wall hangings or other measures to dampen the noise. A friend pointed out they do have some tables outdoors, near the front door, so we may try that next time now that the weather is beautiful. I'd rather put up with cigarette smoke from nieghboring tables than the noise inside Duke's.
And those hard ass wood chairs that only a missionary could love

Check the Thai language version of the latest Chiang Mai Post, page 23, the inside of the last page, for an interesting notice by AA Insurance Brokers.
For those of us not able to get this paper could you give us a hint?...

Most of these dongles can be had for less than 2,000 baht here in Thailand...
Buying on eBay and shipping it all the way here will save you little and makes you the tech support...
Just go to a local shop here with you laptop and have them set you up and get it all running before you leave the shop...

Not sure of your needs... But if you don't really need a phone form factor you might take a look at the Galaxy Tab 7... It has been out a while and is presently priced at 12-14K baht... Next month Samsung will release the Tab 7 Plus and the Tab 7.7... So I would bet the present Tab 7 will drop in price to the 10K level...
It would make a great entry level device

Won't you need to replace the power supplies for ones that are compatible with the current here?

I own a 10.1 and its excellent. I dont know how you could think it is 'bad'. Its amazing.
It comes form you point of reference... I have a IPad 2... And I can really notice the lagginess of the 10.1...
The problem is that Samsung (or any Android based hardware manufacturer) did not design and build the software (Which is really a hodgepodge 3rd party apps) from ground up to be optimized for their hardware...
PS... I am not a Apple fanboy as I have owned more Android devices than Apple and am also in line to buy the 1.4mghz Oled 7.7 that will hopefully be out in January

A little too Vegas for my taste...
I'll stick with ADWLauncher EX

HTC has just released the HTC Explorer... It retails for 6,000 Baht... A bit on the small side but very nice looking and could make a nice 2nd phone

What's next? Coffee by proctologist?
Just got back to CNX from BKK. One of my friends went to Yanhee Hospital, had a coffee colon cleansing - 30 litres in 60 minutes !!
Was that au lait, with or without sugar?
Dam... Mai Wan...

rice worked for me.Most people try and turn on the phone as soon as they get it out of the water.thats the last thing ya want to do.instead take everything out,do the rice thing.
^ that
don't try to turn the phone on prematurely
take out the battery
put in sealed rice container for a few days
that will dry out the phone so as long as nothing got fried (because you turned it on when it was still wet) it should be OK.
I would just add that you can set the rice bag in the sun to speed up the drying

If you log into EVA Air with an account and choose "HOT E-FARE" from the drop down you might find a good price ($1,414 for Evergreen Deluxe)
-
EVA Air and Bangkok Air have a code sharing agreement. so you can check your baggage all the way thu to CM and also at Suvarnabhum you get to go thru a special and much less congested immigration
-
Just in case anyone else like myself that didn't know what MTB stood for - Mountain Bike.
Also the OP doesn't realize that the currency here is the THB, not the "$"!
And I doubt he has been on a Thai "sidewalk"...

I would go to Pantip or whatever store in convenient for you in Thailand and find the computer you like then try using Google to find online computer stores in each country to find that model...
Ex: http://computer.onlinestore.sg/notebooks.html
Then compare prices...
Also note that all Thai prices include VAT - If you buy in Thailand most larger stores will give you VAT refund paperwork... When you leave Thailand for your visa run you can get the VAT back
PS - Remember that the VAT refund is a two step process where you need to show the computer to Thai Customs BEFORE you pass thru Immigration then after Immigration you can go to the VAT refund window to get the cash refund.

Cr@p. TrueMove H apparently no longer offers the B599/month "unlimited 3G+" plan that they SMS'd me about last month. At least it's not on their web site.
On their web site, the current B599 iPhone plan is only for 2GB of combined 3G+ and EDGE, and no free SMS nor free MMS.
My current B599 plan with TrueMove includes 3GB 3G, unlimited EDGE, 300 SMS and 50 MMS. The equivalent package on TrueMove H now appears to be B899?
BTW, looking at the coverage maps on the TrueMove H site, you *can* go from Hua Hin all the way to Pattaya with 3G+ coverage (except maybe a few km between Hua Hin and Bangkok?)
I was on the old Truemove B599 300 talk/30 free SMS plans... I went in and switched to H and the new bill seems to have grandfathered over the same plan ;-)

5,000 baht is a small price to pay to avoid the teaming mass of humanity at the local Immigration office.
