New Bangkok terminal opens, and looks like they need it!
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
No Immigration in SAT1, INT-INT connections possible (I think). APM details: I think they have some of these already, not sure if they have all six two-car trains. Automated people mover details The APM system will be a 5km line comprising four parallel tracks and two stations. It will be serviced by six two-car units that can move between the main terminal and SAT-1 within three minutes per ride at a maximum speed of 80km/h. https://www.airport-technology.com/projects/suvarnabhumi-international-airport-sat-1-thailand/#:~:text=Automated people mover details, maximum speed of 80km%2Fh. https://bangkokairporttrain.com/suvarnabhumi-unmanned-train/ -

Thai health minister backs cannabis ban, citing surge in teen usage
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Government needs a win, and this is an easy one for them, so unfortunately this recriminalization seems inevitable. The recriminalization seems to be gaining steam every day. I predicted there was a good chance (85 - 95%) that recreational use would continue, I was definitely wrong. -
He got into a spot of bother in 2019. Rumors were he was arrested. And went into hibernation then, but has clawed his way back. Boxers, in case anyone is wondering.

Cannabis Network Gives Health Minister A Warning
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Speaks volumes that you think anyone here cares about sorting your "concerns". None of us are responsible for Thai laws, so who are you trying to convince? You are not going to change anyone's mind. I guess if you really cared you would be lobbying Thai government officials? Most of us here are adults and can make our own lifestyle choices. I'll respect the government's wishes when/if they restrict recreational cannabis use. I'm reminded of the chaps who used to proselytize outside Nana Plaza about the evils of the temptations of the flesh. Sure they were entertaining, but who were they trying to convince. I think they just liked to hear themselves speak, and were hoping for some attention. I will stipulate that Cannabis may be addictive to some very few, especially for those who are easily addicted to anything. I will stipulate that it is unlawful operate a motor vehicle under the influence of Cannabis. I will stipulate that those with underlying mental illnesses may be further affected by the use of Cannabis. If brain development is an issue then I'd support the 26M/24F restrictions, assuming they also raised the legal alcohol age to the same levels. The "attendant violence" is a bridge too far, for me anyway. For meth, or alcohol, sure. For cannabis meh. Maybe a fight over the last slice of pizza, but that's about it. -

Thai PM says he opposes the recreational use of cannabis
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
An enemy could make the case that your use of this representation, and Aseannow (as a publisher), are in violation of Thai law. Good thing you are not a member of MFP. Alcohol Control Act of 2008 Section 32 also prevents anyone from advertising alcohol or showcasing any names or logos that induce people to drink, whether directly or indirectly. When alcohol products are posted on social media, the group highlights the significance to the public that advertising and sales promotion can influence and lead to an increase in new drinkers. https://aseannow.com/topic/1303667-deputy-house-speaker-in-hot-water-over-a-cold-beer/ -

How can he determine that something is without even trying, or proposing potential solutions. All he does is mouth platitudes. Meanwhile the Emergency Decree in the South has been extended for a Sixty-Fifth (65th) time. Bringing you peace since 2005. -

Incorrect. Again. Wow you're on a roll. 0-fer today. The law does not identify "legal" uses, it does identify some use limits. Recreational use is NOT illegal, unless you are a lactating woman, or under 20 YO. Recreational use in public, where it causes an annoyance to others is illegal. Thank goodness you have nothing to do with the law or judicial system here. -

In my state the total tax is 20%; 15% go to the state, 5% to the city/town where the sales occur. Saying it again, the Cannabis Control Board would consider additional taxes (over 7 % VAT), as the ACB/TCB do for alcohol and tobacco. -

Incorrect. Your list is from 2021. Cannabis is classified as a Controlled Herb, and as such all parts of the plant, including inflorescences (flower) are legal. -

You mean over and above 7% VAT which is currently collected and remitted to the Government by the thousands of legally licensed sales channels? I think the Cannabis Control Board might have considered additional taxes, just as the Alcohol Control Board, and the Tobacco Control Boards do. The Cannabis Control Board would be enacted by the Cannabis and Hemp Bill. More than one million Thai households registered to grow cannabis at home. Nearly 1 million people approved to grow cannabis already https://thethaiger.com/news/national/nearly-1-million-people-approved-to-grow-cannabis-already -

There may be a shift away from THC to Hemp and CBD, based on the Cannabis and Hemp Act being re-considered in Parliament. Currently Cannabis (THC or CBD or 1:1) is only approved as a treatment for 4 symptoms: 1) nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy 2) difficult-to-treat epilepsy 3) spasticity in multiple sclerosis 4) nervous system pain and assessed that it might benefit 6 symptoms: 1) Parkinson's 2) Alzheimer's 3) Multiple Sclerosis 4) Anxiety 5) End-stage cancer 6) Other diseases of terminally ill patients. And additional research is required in 1 case: cancer. This is of course incorrect. Cannabis Flower, regardless of THC content, was removed from the Narcotics Lists as of 9 June 2022. -
Thai PM says use of cannabis must be regulated within six months
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I'm often wrong predicting future events here. I predicted that Cannabis Flower over 0.2% THC would NOT be legalized back in June 2022. Many here predicted that it would be. I was completely WRONG. I had been predicted that there might be 5 % ~ 15 % that Cannabis flower with more than 0.2 % THC would be re-criminalized by the new government. I think I was wrong again. BJT(Wednesday) announced that they are pushing forward with the Cannabis and Hemp Act in Parliament. The focus seems to have shifted to Hemp and CBD extraction, leaving THC to probably be relegated to the Narcotics list, again. -

Well Prime Minister Srettha has an opening, his senior advisor Kittirat Na Ranong has been indicted. The Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) has reportedly indicted the prime minister s chief adviser, Kittirat Na Ranong, for alleged graft in selecting a local supplier for rice exports to Indonesia in 2011. -

Thai PM says use of cannabis must be regulated within six months

Thinly attributed with a hint of speculation, and extrapolation. Would prefer a direct quote from Anutin. If re-criminalization is a done deal then get on with it NOW. Why wait six months? -
Thai PM says he opposes the recreational use of cannabis
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, he can. Anutin, as Deputy PM and Minster of Health, issued an edict on 9 June 2022, which was published in the Royal Gazette, legalizing cannabis flower by removing it from the Narcotics Lists.. (Kratom, and Hemp too.) The PM could issue his own edict TODAY, to add Cannabis flower back onto the Narcotics Lists, and instruct the RTP which reports directly to him, to enforce this new (re-) ban. -

Recently. I think he was pro-cannabis a few years ago. That's my recollection anyway. And not saying folks can't change their minds either. That said, it's hardly relevant as Pita is sidelined.
