  1. The government is deeply involved in the labor supply to Israel, so it is good that they recognize their responsibilities regarding the welfare of these tens of thousands of citizens. Hence the Minister of Labor is involved in dealing with the resulting problems caused by this attack. Israel signs pact to recruit 25,000 more Thai workers The governments of Israel and Thailand signed an agreement in Jerusalem today (July 13) to recruit a fresh batch of 25,000 Thais for agricultural work in the Middle East country, a press statement said. https://www.nationthailand.com/business/30391209 https://israel.mol.go.th/en/info/labor-information
  2. Selective application of the law, with significant punishment, keeps the public in line. This way you only have to jail a small percentage of the population, while frightening the rest into self-censorship. All individual rights "guaranteed" (cough) by the Constitution are severely limited, and open to "interpretation". Section 34. A person shall enjoy the liberty to express opinions, make speeches, write, print, publicise and express by other means. The restriction of such liberty shall not be imposed, except by virtue of the provisions of law specifically enacted for the purpose of maintaining the security of the State, protecting the rights or liberties of other persons, maintaining public order or good morals, or protecting the health of the people. So Thais have the right of free speech as long as they don't say anything.
  3. New entry point Bangkok Div 1 https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/onlineservice-and-publicguide/ Queue Online leads to the link I provided.
  4. Khaosod English reported yesterday there were "about a total of 30,000 Thais in Israel", with ~ 5,000 in affected areas.
  5. https://gov.immigration1.queueonline.net/appointment/login.html?v27 works for me, submit email, get OTP, then make appointment.
  6. Make a "plan" to go to CW tomorrow, but change your mind in the morning. The next report date slip will show up with your EMS driver. ???? So you bought a 37 baht EMS slip for your return envelope at the post office when you were mailing in your paperwork? If so, that tracking number is not applicable. They will stick a new EMS slip, with a different tracking number on it, over yours for the return trip. So there is no way to track the return envelope.
  7. The 'Newest' TM47/90-Report Website is coming up on the second anniversary, that can be gleaned from the top-most pinned post. I think that the a New Passport requires one to file the first 90-day report in person. After that you can file on-line.
  8. Not sure about that calendar image I think that was from the old site's/app's user's guide? Here, the User's Guide for the new system says... Submit a request in advance before the due date for the next report within 15 days. https://tm47.immigration.go.th/manual/IndexForeign.html https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/login
  9. What is your reporting office? Some, many, most seem to turn around on-line filings quite quickly, a few days at most. But there is an acknowledged problem at CW. I think I've seen a report or two here or on FB which indicate some improvement in response times at CW, but waiting to see more.
  10. The MoT&S has been trying to get their grubby little hands on this 300 baht fee for a few years now. They want to collect and manage this revenue with little oversight. They do NOT want it to be collected as part of the 700 Baht TS fee, which could be increased to 1,000. With 25 million tourists this is a nice little 7.5 BILLION baht cash pile which can easily be stolen. Sometimes they say it's for unpaid medical bills often said to be in the several hundred million baht range. Sometimes they say it's for maintenance and upkeep, other times it's for the coral reefs. Collection is always the issue, airlines want no part of a new ticket line item. This kiosk idea seems like it would be an epic fail. Seems rather ghoulish to push this latest requirement while the cremation ashes of the deceased are still warm? But this Minister seems to be quite foolish and simple-minded.
  11. I don't know? While the net result is the same I don't know if the RD will consider this remittable taxable "income", and that it must be declared. Would using a credit card for local expenses be considered "remitting income to Thailand"? Purchasing an airline ticket for travel back home (BKK-USA-BKK) means the ticket is issued in Thailand in THB. I guess there's a 20% tax (my potential bracket here) that will have to be paid to the RD? Oof.
  12. Well he did appoint himself as Minister of Finance, so that should tell you something about his seeking out professional advice.
  13. Understood. Assuming any/all remittances were subject to tax I would minimize those, and utilize ATM withdrawals and counter withdrawals for the bulk of my monthly expenses. Those would come at the daily Visa rate, and my bank reimburses for ATM fees (usually 150 THB at an AEON ATM). I would also go a bit heavy when the dollar is strong
  14. But only if/when they are remitted from the U.S. to Thailand. I think. This is the understanding I am working under right now. I'm in the same boat: SocSec, one annuity paid in one lump each year on 1/1/nn. I transfer money each month, but am considering switching to the 800,000 method. Right now I'm more concerned with the possibility that banks start to withhold some percentage (20%? say for the 65,000 monthly qualifying transfers) tax, forwarding that to the RD, and then we have to file a return, hopefully claiming the bulk of that as a refund. And that Immigration will want to some piece of paper from the RD stating that we are in compliance with taxes owed/paid, before processing an extension of stay.

  16. He just formed a committee this week. While I would have thought that he had some group working on this since the election (everyone knew PTP would lead), apparently he did not. So I think it's fair to give him some time to sort out the details and release the funds. The headwind on this one is growing though. It could lead to the end of his brief stint as PM, along with malfeasance charges in a year or two. Just sayin'.
  17. Can you post a link to that thread, for context? I think that with the Credit Advice Receipts, and some documentation from the SSA (annual benefit letter, for example - that's always available on the mySSA site), you should be ok at most Imm offices.
  18. This is definitely the bulk of the Immigration officials involved in the Tu Hao case who were from Khon Kaen. Big Joke buried this mess with the NACC back in March. This sounds like some officers are trying to fight against the NACC recommending prosecution? At least three have the word general in their titles. Now the immigration offices where the alleged bribes were taken have been named for the first time. They are: Chiang Mai Nakhon Ratchasima Khon Kaen Sakhon Nakorn Chaiyaphum Kalasin Phrae Yasothon and Roi-Et. https://aseannow.com/topic/1287361-former-immigration-chief-big-joke-comes-full-circle-charges-against-107-allegedly-corrupt-immigration-officers-laid/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1288744-100000-pages-of-evidence-in-40-boxes-big-joke-prepares-cases-against-116-corrupt-immigration-men-offices-named/
  19. Based on that Credit Advice Receipt It looks like SocSec gets converted to THB before arriving in Thailand, maybe by Citi in Europe? Then to Citi in THL ( I thought they sold their local ops?), then transferred via BAHTNET to Bangkok Bank? I think you'd need the CAR because this may not show in a passbook or statement as FTT? Hopefully banks won't be using that line "Other Charges" to withhold 20% Thai Tax. come 1 Jan 2024. ????
  20. Quick Win. Well Big Tor only has one year, so his reforms of the RTP appear to be a huge dollop of lipstick. But it will still be a pig.
  21. I think this is related to the Tua Hao case? And looks like an attempted "Clean up"? https://www.voanews.com/a/criminal-charges-expected-in-thailand-over-chinese-immigration/7007882.html#:~:text=More than 100 Thai immigration,to set up criminal businesses. Big Joke passed this one along to the NACC.
  22. Most of us took this to mean that everyone had to register on the new system, and file newly required TM30s on that new system. I have not seen anything about having to re-file existing (filed on the old system) TM30s with the new system?
  23. Can you share any detail here? Who are these "others"? Where did you hear about their experience? I did see another thread related to this potential linkage. I've been searching for answer to this question, that is Is everyone registered on the 'old' system required to file a TM30 on the NEW system? I have not found an answer, nor have I heard (from posts here and on FB) there is a linkage between an online TM47 and a new TM30. I registered on the new site, but have not refiled TM30s; I've the Excel sheet completed for all tenants, but have not uploaded it, yet. I suspect Immigration would prefer we file on the new system - I'm sure they have no plans to migrate records from the old system to the new one. It would be great if they informed us of any policy on this matter. There are one or two great threads here on the new TM30 site. https://aseannow.com/topic/1306628-tm30-new-website-address-for-filing-notifications-and-registration/ Basically register to use the site email, pw, new pw register the building blue book/house doc, owners thai id file for any occupants https://tm30.immigration.go.th/TM30/Foreigner/TM30EN/Home.html https://tm30.immigration.go.th/TM30/Foreigner/TM30EN/VDOGuide.html
  24. Powerful and influential people must be "lobbying" the new government for these opening hour extensions. I would tie an increase in the base hourly wage paid to workers in this sector, and require 1.5x salary be paid for the extra opening hours.
  25. And what, pray tell, were these "directives"? I looked through his recent Twitter posts, didn't see any "directives". Does he manage his Cabinet by Twitter?
