  1. I can't remember which "crimes" he was charged with, or tried/convicted/sentenced to in absentia, but those may have a statute of limitations? Third-party share nominees? Inside real-estate deal in Ratchada? Yes I realize any Somchai could file new charges against him. Maybe he has some sort of pardon in hand? He's never struck me as unintelligent, and returning without some assurances (even if that would require him to depart again) would be anything but intelligent. Do/did I like the guy? No. I was never one of the tens of millions of people who voted for him. Was illegally overthrowing a government worth it just to get rid of him? Uhm, no.
  2. He's toast, unfortunately. He just doesn't realize it as it's happening so slowly. Even if MFP retains more seats than PTP after red/yellow cards, and even if he is nominated for PM, he doesn't have enough votes (376). The difference between now and 2001 is that Thaksin had a gigantic electoral mandate, ~ 248 seats from 500 and no patrician Senate "overseeing" the unreliable politicians. So the court had to allow him to be PM for fear of public outrage, by an 8-7 vote some six months after the King approved him as PM. He was of course dealt with subsequently. That said, Pita might get enough votes - the Senate will be in on the fix, understanding that the courts will remove Pita within 4 months, to temporarily allow him to be PM to make things look "good".
  3. Eric DID accompany Dad to/from the courthouse. Trump rode to court with his son Eric, who accompanied the motorcade from the former president's Doral resort to the federal courthouse in Miami. https://www.wsbtv.com/news/trending/trump-indictment-former-president-says-he-will-plead-not-guilty/R7BEVZPP2NEXBKCK6Z25ETS2WY/
  4. Yeah, there hasn't been a Thai School Lunch Corruption expose since, what, last term? Last week? And did the cook lose two fingers?
  5. Projection. You could tell his comments were written, and he's reading the prompter. Rarely does he use full sentences. Low energy too.
  6. Republicans doing the People's business. Not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7PyIP839N0
  7. Home brewing was legalized Nov. 2, 2022. Not sure if foreigners can home brew though. Over 20 YO, can brew up to 200 liters per year. Smaller craft brewers have also been legalized. Previously they had to produce 10 million liters per year. The craft brew market has exploded here since this legalization. Much more so than the cannabis market. Small distillers have existed for a long time, made legal ~ 2001 via OTOP. They had been prohibited from advertising, but that ban has been somewhat lifted. Many of these white spirits (rice or cane sugar) are extremely popular and sold out. MFP PM-candidate Pita mentioned a few of his favorites last week, creating a rush.
  8. I thought it was sad because, normally, one's family accompanies them to court for support. And Trump being such a family man, it must have been tough on him. I guess he'll always have Walt Nauta. Nixon had Manolo Sanchez - referred to him by Bebe Rebozo - and of course his wife, daughters and sons in law. BTW, like his dad, I forgot about Eric. Sorry. Will he run for president without any family support? Surely Melania will pitch in and help him get re-elected?
  9. Other persons charged and sentenced for mishandling classified documents, during the Trump presidency... Former NSA Employee Sentenced to Prison for Willful Retention of Classified National Defense Information Nghia Hoang Pho, 68, of Ellicott City, Maryland, and a naturalized U.S. citizen originally of Vietnam, was sentenced today to 66 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for willful retention of classified national defense information. According to court documents, Pho removed massive troves of highly classified national defense information without authorization and kept it at his home. https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/former-nsa-employee-sentenced-prison-willful-retention-classified-national-defense Federal Government Contractor Sentenced for Removing and Transmitting Classified Materials to a News Outlet Reality Winner, 26, of Augusta, Georgia, was sentenced today to five years and three months in prison for removing classified national defense material from a government facility and mailing it to a news outlet. Winner was arrested by the FBI at her home in Augusta, on June 3, 2017. The parties filed a plea agreement on June 21, in which Winner agreed to plead guilty to the one-count indictment charging her with unlawful retention and transmission of national defense information. The parties agreed that a sentence of imprisonment for 63 months followed by a three-year term of supervised release is the appropriate disposition of the case. The Court accepted the plea agreement at sentencing. https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/federal-government-contractor-sentenced-removing-and-transmitting-classified-materials-news
  10. We need playing cards to keep all these pretties straight. And one name only for each. Nepotism is not viewed as a negative here, it's just baked in to the Thai social contract. And is acceptable to all. I have no issue with that, if that's the way they want to roll. In the case of the rapidly advancing pretties I suspect it's mostly nepotism, with looks and education finishing a distant second and third places.
  11. BS. That's just plain WRONG. Everyone accepted him as POTUS, unlike the right which has not accepted that Joe Biden won the 2020 election. You're confusing criticism with acceptance. And the bulk of your post is just you complaining about further criticism, with a bit of conspiracy theory thrown in.
  12. He's got people for that.
  13. Interesting that no family members accompanied the former president to his arraignment. No Melania, no Don Jr., no Ivanka, no Tiffany. That seems sad. Just like his New York arraignment, Trump did not have any friends or family there with him, just his lawyers and his personal aide and co-defendant Walt Nauta. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/live-blog/trump-indictment-live-updates-arraignment-rcna88868 I wonder if the judge advised the defendants not to speak publicly about the proceedings? The former president left for a fundraiser at his Bedminster club after the proceedings. Mr. Nauta will probably be busy "valeting" boxes and such at that facility.
  14. Interesting that Rep. Mace, who has showed some leadership on the abortion issue, chooses to DEFLECT rather than DEFEND the former president. "...whether he mishandled the documents or not..." time stamp ~ 1:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ut9gWKDqC4
  15. Do tell. A referendum to secede is not a thing, and it never was. Do you understand what a referendum is? Are you American? I think you're being overly hysterical with your prognostications.
  16. Interesting that the former president does not establish any reasoning or defense for stealing, hiding, sharing and lying about classified documents. Instead he rants about "the rigged system". “If the facts are against you, argue the law. If the law is against you, argue the facts. If the law and the facts are against you, pound the table and yell like hell” attributed to Carl Sandburg This ranting is of course why he will not be allowed to testify. And without his testimony the facts may be too overwhelming for a jury to ignore.
  17. Plus they used all their ammo shooting up Bud Light cans.
  18. To pay for the promotion one has to, in most cases, borrow money to pay the full fare BEFORE getting the promotion. Note that there have been "incidents" where the payment has been made and then the promotion was not delivered. The end result often involves gunfire. And the payment is borrowed from the informal police promotion lending society, and not SCB, which involves senior police and their close mafia associates. The "loan" is repaid over the years, resulting in a tidy income/safe investment, but requires the applicant to source additional income aggressively. Loan payment due? Shakedown duty. Or the various nefarious activities the RTP has been implicated in recently: dodgy visas, kidnapping, purloining bank accounts, repo super cars, plastic bag drug suspects. The problem isn't so much the pay for promotion but rather the results of that initial corruption. It leads to increased corrupt and illegal behavior. And more importantly, a lack of faith and respect by the public in the police and the legal system.
  19. A Thai Police Forensic "Detective" simply needs to be able to write "Accidental Death", or whatever Big Joke tells them to write. Or scientifically examine and approve the RTA's Bomb Detectors. What is the average age of those in the RTP who make Lieutenant? "True Grit"? Yes, she doesn't appear to have lived a charmed life.
  20. Seems like the current reading for Federal crimes is that mug shots cannot be released. Detroit Free Press Inc. v. U.S. Dep't of Justice https://casetext.com/case/detroit-free-press-inc-v-us-dept-of-justice-2 https://www.politico.com/blogs/under-the-radar/2016/07/mugshots-federal-criminal-suspects-225546 The 6th Circuit decision does not mean that federal mugshots will never see the light of day. It leaves open the possibility that they could be released in response to FOIA requests on a case-by-case basis, perhaps when there are credible allegations of police abuse or in cases of unusual public interest. In addition, federal authorities sometimes choose to release mugshots outside the FOIA process, like when officials are seeking a suspect. Varies for state crimes by state, unsurprisingly. Florida Mug shots are subject to public inspection unless they are exempt criminal intelligence information or are otherwise exempt. Fla. Stat. § 119.071(2)(c)(1) (2020).
  21. Kevin McCarthy contends that the boxes in the bathroom are secure because bathroom doors can be locked. And presumably the boxes lock the door on their own after the foreign agents leave after "relieving" themselves? Honestly can anyone be this stoopid? Kevin can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr64c9xFyTs
  22. Uhm, no? ???? POLICE ‘HAVE NO DUTY’ TO EXPLAIN ‘ELEPHANT TICKET’ SCANDAL “What’s the fuss about it?” Wirut said. “It’s already existed for decades already, but it was only presented with evidence [by Rangsiman]. Fortune favors the bold, if you don’t pay for your position or approach your boss, you wouldn’t get it.” Wirut, who served as a police colonel, said the current police appointment regulation is vaguely written and can be easily exploited. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/politics/2021/02/22/police-have-no-duty-to-explain-elephant-ticket-scandal/
  23. I'm on board with this. Someone (insert globalist name here) just wants to make nazis look bad.
  24. He hasn't even been arraigned yet. On what grounds? Witch-huntery factor too high? He's above the law? Former Presidents get special treatment? It was a Grand Jury, made up of PEOPLE, who voted for an indictment of many charges based on probably cause. That's how our system works. If you want to break it, go ahead and try. It didn't work on Jan. 6, it won't work now. Reader feedback: We can only take so many Fox News re-tweets. Anyone interested in that bile is already reading it on their Twitter feed.
  25. Civil War? Over trump? Seriously. The red states leech off the federal government, and without that teat to suckle at they'd be another Mexico or Columbia.
