  1. How soon can a "No Confidence" debate/vote be held in Parliament?
  2. This was a non-starter from the get-go. Srettha started walking this back shortly after gaining the PM slot. As recently as five days ago he was: asking for more time to study this, and only applying it to low-income individuals only. I think the looming debt relief for the BMA, who owe the BTSC 11.75 BILLION baht and which the government will have to pay, was another nail in this 20 baht train fee coffin.
  3. From the linked article... The date of the next meeting has not yet been set, Pichet said, adding “If they still cannot reach an agreement, I will resort to drawing lots as a solution, so that the committees can start work as soon as possible.” So this government was already a dumpster, then it caught on fire, now it's about to get plowed into by a train at a level crossing. I mean this is not shocking, but they will be begging for a coup in another week or so. "Save us, from ourselves".
  4. You have to apply by mail (EMS or DHL) to Bangkok. The process for a Passport Card is a bit different (now) than it is for a passport book renewal. https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/instructions-for-ds-82-processing-by-mail-and-online-fee-payment-for-u-s-citizens-residing-in-thailand/ Step #7 https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/instructions-for-ds-82-passport-card-application/ checklist-DS82-by-mail-online-payment-36-THB.pdf
  5. No, it isn't. Yes, abusing conscripts seems like something a senior military official should know is wrong, but they don't apparently. The issue is the method of, well I don't think calling mandatory service based on the color of the ball is "enlistment". But a major part of Military Reforms is moving towards a voluntary military, along with smaller budget, smaller top-heavy command structure and more reasonable procurements. Look, the people need to demand a change in mission for the Thai military. That change means moving away from defending the few against the many Thai citizens. The Thai military seems to be ~ 95% focused on maintaining the status quo. ISOC alone has ~ 6,000 (I bet that number is a lot higher) staff monitoring "Internal Security".
  6. Dunno. But you seem to want to be part of spreading "news" about the "problem". You're about the fiftieth person here to share their warnings about the dangers of Cannabis. There have been quite a few threads about Cannabis Use Disorder here. No clue why people feel the need to warn other adults about their lifestyle choices? Or why people here need to keep repeating themselves. Maybe you could just share why it is you felt the need to share these links? No States in the U.S. have rolled back cannabis legalization. In fact, more and more and more states (and Native American Nations) are moving towards legalization. Heck even Germany may be getting close, and that would break the dam in Europe. U.S. health agency recommends easing federal restrictions on marijuana The Department of Health and Human Services says marijuana should no longer be classified in the same category as drugs like heroin and LSD. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/us-health-agency-recommends-easing-federal-marijuana-restrictions-rcna102642 Thailand has many, many, many more pressing health problems: Methamphetamine, alcohol, tobacco, road deaths, an aging population, a massive migrant population, stagnant health care quality levels, shortage of health-care professionals. I think drowning is the leading cause of premature death in children here. Funny we don't here the preachers here telling us to ban water.
  7. This poor sap has been in a position of power all his life, and has never ever been challenged. He clearly is all hat and no cattle. Trying to lead by spouting useless platitudes is a sure sign of ineptitude.
  8. It is Srettha who is reined, and saddled. He will be ridden hard, and will take the whip. He has absolutely no power whatsoever. He'll be but a skid-mark in Thai history.

  10. It is unclear what this particular dealer meant when they said they charge 3% for processing the credit card charge, or 4% for a foreign-issued card? Some merchants here do charge extra for processing credit card charges as they do not have any processing agreements in place. And your credit card provider may also charge an extra percentage, often 3%, for foreign transactions. Checks the terms on your card. I suspect that most motorbikes are financed, so in essence the lender pays the dealer in cash (direct bank transfer). For those that can afford it, they pay in cash or direct bank transfer.
  11. Every bank's app can be slightly different so it would help if you identified a specific bank(s). Generally speaking, Yes. If only to register the device (IMEI) with the Bank's app. Some banks here do NOT allow registration of the App over Wifi, although after registration the app can be used over mobile data or WiFi. Generally speaking you would need to register that phone number with the bank, often in person. Subsequent two factor authorization (2FA) may be accomplished via an SMS OTP code transmitted to that number, or by local (app) authorization (fingerprint). Most bank apps here now only allow the registration of one single device (BBL used to allow multiple devices). Depends on the Bank/app. But I answered this in my post above.
  12. How do I receive SMS text messages in Skype? You can receive SMS text messages in Skype if you have a Skype Number. Currently, only US Skype Numbers can receive SMS messages*. Two-way SMS text messaging is not supported in Skype on Android 4.0.4 - 5.1. * Note: You can receive SMS messages on your US Skype Number from US and Canadian mobile numbers. However, SMS messages sent from services such as identity verification are not supported on US Skype Numbers. https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA34884/how-do-i-receive-sms-text-messages-in-skype Some report issues receiving Short Code SMS, which is what many entities use for OTP verification.
  13. Evidently some said Srettha came across as "Bossy" and has "Anger Management issues" during this meeting. He's already made an apology for his behavior. I'm not sure he's naturally comfortable with anyone below his station?
  14. You're talking about "appointments"? Right? They can only be booked up to 30 days out. For some activity there are no open slots on any given day. Pick a day/date 30 days out, wake up up at 00:01 and snag a slot. I do not believe you can book an appointment for a category/activity other than the one you hope to accomplish. FWIW, there are tons of 90-Day Slots available. I booked one two days out, and full availability. They do have a lot of slots for this. And maybe folks don't know you can book an appointment for the 90-Day report? Just get to CW early on Friday and get one of the first few tickets. I have no idea what that time might be? 06:00? 06:30?
  15. PTP leader, Dr. Cholnan Srikaew (who resigned from party leadership, but not the cabinet, given his party joined with PPP an UTN) is the new Minister of Public health, and while some in PTP are very anti-Cannabis, he appears at least interested in Medical cannabis use. He is a physician. Some slight tilt towards re-criminalization perhaps, but maybe only from 5% to 15% chance? I still think everyone will be happy with the Cannabis Control Act, although some odd rules/laws might come out of the resulting Cannabis Control Board. Not unlike the Alcohol Control Board and their strange rules.
  16. I'm surprised this PR option, and full citizenship, haven't been compromised. Actually, the gangster Tu Hao (Thai "name": Chaiyanat Kornchayanant) was supposedly a Thai citizen, somehow? https://www.thaipbsworld.com/pm-hits-back-over-chinese-businessmans-thai-citizenship/
  17. The less formal banking institutions here, Cooperatives and Village Funds, seem like dumpsters about to catch fire. Embezzlement, Debt Relief, and NPLs, being the primary problems festering.
  18. The limit at DMK is that the two runways are too close together for simultaneous operations, and aircraft have to cross the 3L/21R runway to get to/from 3R/21L.
  19. Two in one week. the investigative unit, Division 4, Immigration Bureau, arrested Mr. David Long . Stage (Devid Longstregh), 46 years old. American nationality The accused under the arrest warrant of the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court No. 766/66, dated 22 August 2023, committed an offense of Committing an indecent act to a child under 15 years of age, regardless of whether the child consents or not. 20. It will take you 5 - 10 minutes to walk down/up Soi 4 (to Soi 6), to get a feel for the live music scene. There are walking videos on Youtube, news ones posted almost daily. Hillary 2, and Hillary 1 had live cover bands (Thai back-up, Singers from the Philippines usually) on Friday night 1 Sep.
  21. https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Locate-Us Use "Suvarnabhumi" Found this: SUVARNABHUMI AIRPORT PASSENGER TERMINAL BUILDING FL.1 GATE 7 999 Moo 1 Bang Na-Trat Rd. Nong Prue Bang Phli Samut Prakarn 10260 There are ten (10) doors (gates), all are clearly identified. Outside facing the main passenger terminal building doors go from 1 to 10, L to R. Most banks here have ATM/Branch/Fx locators.
  22. I wonder if/when Yingluck will get the VVIP return treatment?
  23. Back when I used to mail in 90 day reports I'd get an EMS sticker of the PO Counter, 32 baht I think, and the tracking number is on the receipt. Apply that to the return addressed envelope, then seal that in your outgoing envelope. Then purchase an EMS for that outgoing envelope. Or I might affix at least 32 baht in stamps. then write "EMS" on the return envelope.
  24. Simply amazing how quickly the judicial system can "work" when required. This one will leave a stench not easily eliminated.
  25. He's a lawyer. The regime's consigliere. His lips were moving. Do not believe a word he says. Thaksin's sentence currently is one year. He's eligible for parole after serving a third of the current sentence, hence the four months.
