  1. Privy Council. Reward for all he's done "maintaining order".
  2. That was from 2020, trying to defend the bloated military structure, pure BS, and a promise made by someone who is leaving office.

  4. A quick search found this... https://aseannow.com/topic/1267183-chaeng-wattana-certificate-of-residence-report-27072022/

  6. +1 They close at 11 PM. http://www.palapizzabangkok.com/
  7. More likely yaba + lao khao. Using legal intoxicants like cannabis and alcohol as an "excuse", by the parent, is not a defense. If he was consuming cannabis he would have forgotten where he placed his sword. There haven't been many scary cannabis stories in a long time. With the new government coming soon, these stories seem to be on the rise. Curious.
  8. 95% of entrepreneurial small businesses operate on FB. Most large-scale retail service and food businesses drive revenue via FB. Might as well shoot yourself in the temple rather than the foot. IMO, this "outgoing" "caretaker" MDES Minster should close his pie hole. This problem should be solved by working with FB, and not rattling his toy sabre.
  9. Has he been saying this "all along"? His "party" has been saying the dreaded word re: the military throughout the pre- and post-election periods. End conscription, reduce the top-heavy command structure, refine the mission, reduce the budget. Srettha is on a very, very short leash. His 'masters' will pull on the leash endlessly. He's not even a puppet PM. A (tall) cardboard cut-out might be more effective.
  10. If your credit card does NOT offer "No Foreign Transaction Fee", then you are paying that 3% fee. Check the terms of your CC. If so, pay in cash. If you have a credit card with No Foreign Transaction Fee, then pay in THB with the credit card. If you live here and do not have a credit card with No Foreign Transaction Fee, then you should probably get one. https://www.nerdwallet.com/best/credit-cards/no-foreign-transaction-fee
  11. Interesting that someone in the leadership of a political party, albeit an ultra-Royalist one, can invoke what might "bother" the King?
  12. Interesting. I thought that the Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC), Gen. Natthapon Nakpanich, a longtime aid to Prayut was said to gain this post. He's a Red Rim, and said to be close to the King as well.
  13. My best guess, based on BJT's participation in the ruling coalition, is that they'll resurrect the bill which passed a first reading ~ 9 June 2022, with 373 MPs voting in support of the bill, with 7 against. 23 MPs abstained. This Cannabis Control Act designated a Cannabis Control Board (~ 25 members), which will more tightly regulate production, marketing, sales. Recreational use will remain in place. So no significant changes.
  14. Nang Yai meets Lakorn. Much better for everyone to be honest about the situation. In the short term there will be some pain. But this endless theatre, subterfuge, and obfuscation is an epic fail as no one believes a word the authorities are saying. This is like the footballer who takes a dive, and is up running full speed in 60 seconds.
  15. What choice did PTP, or MFP for that matter have? Both were out-maneuvered by the powers-that-be. And with the giant ask for repatriating Thaksin, PTP had no choice. That was a huge debt. IMO, PTP would be better served by being honest about the deal they made, why they made it and who they made it with. Trying to keep that secret, when almost everyone knows what happened, may be their death knell?
  16. What "ball"? There never was a "ball". There was an illusion of a "ball". I see you too were fooled by the bait & switch the olde guard pulled. Nothing is to be gained by being in the 'opposition'. Any opposition will be blamed to the lack of progress by the ruling coalition. Especially given the potentially short stint the current coalition might serve. Continue to push progressive legislation where possible.
  17. The PM-in-waiting was touring tourist destinations. Of course everyone in these locations wants tourists to be able to enter Thailand visa exempt and be able to stay as long as they want. So the PM-to-be is going to seem positive on these sorts of ideas. Immigration as part of the RTP reports directly to the PM. How these ideas match up against current law, and Big Joke's goals, remains to be seen. Maybe move to 45 (from 30, for those ~ 64 countries), with a 30 day extension? Is that what they did during COVID/recovery?
  18. Well technically VAT was raised to 10% previously. However it has been temporarily reduced to 7% (usually in two-year increments) through Royal decree. The current reduction decree is set to expire 30 September 2023. I think it is safe to assume that this 7% rate will be extended for another two years.
  19. While it is true that CW allows for an extension based on retirement up to 45 days in advance, the appointment system has but a -30 day "window". There are only five slots per day for an extension based on retirement, so settle on a day/date/time and book -30 days. And five slots for marriage, also at the "L" desks. There was a great trip report re: COR at CW here, I used that with success. https://aseannow.com/topic/1267183-chaeng-wattana-certificate-of-residence-report-27072022/ There are probably a lot more here, so a search might yield additional info.
  20. Thais can travel to Japan visa free for a maximum 15 day stay. It's a popular destination for Thais, even in the Winter where it is one country which is easy to get to with snow. A lot of Thais go with tour groups. Thai travel vloggers cover Japan extensively.
  21. AIS has fairly strict handset requirements for WiFi calling. I think it is available to both prepaid and postpaid customers. You'd have to port your number from DTAC to AIS, or change your new AIS number at your bank(s). https://www2.ais.th/4g/vowifi/en/ *399*1# SEND will return a yes or no on your handset (based on IMEI). Service providers introduced these WiFi Calling options mainly to provide coverage in high rise buildings, where mobile signals might not reach, but where customers probably have WiFi. DTAC and True have merged. Not sure if this cessation of service is cost related? The service, or maybe support of the app, ends 11 October 2023. I did see this response on pantip.com, from a True/DTAC rep. Hello, "OneMilk" because the dtac call service is a service based on old technology that has not been developed. But for using calls abroad, don't worry. You can still use the dtac WiFi Calling service instead easily on the menu of the device without having to download and install an app. Charge according to the current package rate of the customer. It can be used for both monthly and prepaid systems. Nong Fah would like to accept information about this service in order to notify the concerned department for acknowledgment. for information to consider in issuing new services To meet the needs of service users even more. https://pantip.com/topic/42185473 Not sure what to make of that, but many handsets do support WiFi calling 'natively'. Another pantip post Nong Fah would like to thank you "member number 7697788" for liking the dtac call service. However, you "member number 7697788" can use the dtac WiFi Calling instead easily on the menu of the device without having to download and install an app. Anywhere around the world via WiFi even in areas without cell phone signal. Save on normal service charges. according to available packages It's like being in Thailand. To apply, press *444*41# call out) https://pantip.com/topic/42182334

  23. Yes. It is recommended you remove these when drinking tea/coffee, and eating (obviously). Not sure how it got into a new clean cup though? Most people put it into the smaller round carrying case for temporary storage (with plastic tube used to reseat). Or discard them after the one week period in the series.
