  1. Nixon was about to be indicted ~ June 5-ish 1974, and dodged that bullet by resigning. https://www.archives.gov/files/research/investigations/watergate/roadmap/docid-70106088.pdf And of course Nixon's VP Spiro Agnew was Indicted for tax evasion.
  2. The next government should establish an independent civilian body to oversee investigations of corruption within the RTP. Having the RTP investigate themselves seems like a failure. And then burn the house. And do not hire Suthep to build a new police station.
  3. Other articles mention that she got a double-bump to the rank of Captain, in less than two years. And that there is some "suspicion" regarding her meteoric rise. I'm sure she didn't have to "buy" an "Elephant Ticket".
  4. I think you'll be able to report on your "new" date. Just don't use autofill (or if you do then adjust the arrival date accordingly), and make sure your enter the "new" Arrival Thailand Date* I think you'll get the reminder email, that's been corrected BTW, -14 on your "old" date so just ignore that.
  5. Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister, and self-appointed "legal expert", Wissanu Krea-ngam is squawking about this share saga leading to a voiding of the entire election, and the need for a new election. So there's that.
  6. Take two Paracetamol and call me in the morning. Not on the list.
  7. I think there was an organized effort to recruit, hire, transport, house, abuse Thai workers, which obviously had Finnish "contractors" who hired legal trafficking specialists. Without that concerted effort individual Thais aren't going to be obtaining Finnish/EU visas, and heading to Suomi for the summer season.
  8. Can they though? Who would set the price? This might actually be worse than retaining the zero value shares? Again, this appears to be a non-issue, and I doubt that either the EC or CC will take this case. But stranger things have happened, and the Powers that Be will do anything to prevent Pita from heading up the next government. I think they'll find other issues, more legally justifiable, to void MVF's election mandate.
  9. Well people are allowed to discuss illegal products (dabs, oils, extracts, edibles, etc.) of cannabis here so who knows what might happen if/when Cannabis Flower's "legal" status is changed. Cannabis is approved for a very limited set of diagnoses currently: 1. Nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy (chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting) 2. Epilepsy that is difficult to treat and intractable epilepsy 3. Spasticity in patients with multiple sclerosis 4. Neuropathic pain 5. Anorexia in underweight patients with AIDS 6. Improving quality of life in patients receiving palliative care or end-of-life patients
  10. Are these shares traded? Can he actually sell them? From the linked article... The PM’s Secretariat Office had terminated iTV’s concession contract on May 7, 2007 and its frequency was taken over by the Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS) in 2008. After iTV’s frequency was blocked, its share value dropped to practically zero. The intent of the law(s) mentioned is to insure that a candidate does not use their influence with a media outlet to enhance their election chances. Given that iTV is defunct this would seem to be a non-issue, but it is Thailand so... I'm shocked that the EC has "accepted" a complaint. And I'll be shocked if it is referred to the Constitutional Court, and I'll be shocked if the Constitutional Court accepts the case. Surely the Powers that Be can find some reasonable charges against Pita?
  11. The "2001 Playbook", but with a different ending. Election January 2001 Charges brought against PM Thaksin Shinawatra (concealing wealth) April 2001 Acquitted by Constitutional Court vote 8-7 August 2001 Spoiler alert...Thaksin overthrown by illegal coup in 2006. Thaksin had a much, much, much stronger electoral mandate than Pita/MVF. There is no way the Powers that Be will allow Pita/MVF to lead the new government. The caretaker government will remain until a favorable election outcome can be arranged.
  12. An older article, APRIL 2, 2015, but definitely relevant....Pita is toast, unfortunately. And Prayuth is untouchable. Thai junta's opponents fret over plan to grant coup plotters amnesty BANGKOK (Reuters) - Under the new constitution being drawn up by a committee appointed by Thailand’s junta and tasked with protecting the country from “parliamentary dictatorship”, the architects of last year’s military coup would enjoy immunity from prosecution. https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-thailand-politics-constitution-idUKKBN0MT0NL20150402
  13. Pattavikorn Nawamin Market 72 is generally recognized as the largest second hand market in Bangkok. There are others, a Google/Youtube search will offer additonal details. Very popular topic for Youtube vloggers.
  14. "likely"? So landlords should have held out for legitimate businesses, and gentrification, in order to gain higher rents? The general consensus here is that no one patronizes these Cannabis shops, there are too many, so they will probably close quickly, and remain empty again, until "gentrification" arrives.
  15. Agreed. Standing up for your rights (freedom of speech/expression) is just so Anti-American. :rolleyes Nice work to you as well for offering such a unique expression.
  16. Pump and dump. followed by Dump and pump.
  17. Thank goodness for the President, who is obviously quite experienced with past republican efforts to shutdown/defund the government, being able to forge a solution. And kudos to McCarthy for working with the President. I wasn't worried as I was confident that Biden would guide us through this idiocy forced on the entire country by the rightwingnutjobs. But, phew anyway.
  18. I wonder how soon before rightwingnutjob governors start telling parents what materials they can use when home-schooling? White Christian Nationalists will never, ever be satisfied. And with the Supreme Court backing them up we should probably get used to the American Theocracy.
  19. I see what you did there. Who is "they". You do realize there is currently a caretaker government, the same one which delisted Cannabis Flower. The first Parliamentary session is scheduled for 24 July. Maybe a PM by 3 August, and a cabinet 11 August. And surely Cannabis isn't a top 10 or 20 issue for a new government to deal with, is it? https://aseannow.com/topic/1295213-move-forward-party-to-submit-45-bills-for-amendments-and-new-laws/
  20. Agreed. We all prefer empty shophouses, with no rental income, no one employed, and the property deteriorating. And what's with all the neon on Yoawarat Road. Bloody horrible. Yes, this whole backpacker thing is a brand new phenomenon. ????
  21. At least he's not yapping about Cannabis. I can't see the "Senators" voting en masse for a "package deal" which includes the return of Thaksin. That's nuts. Not sure why this guy gets a pass on spreading fake news?
  22. Treatment for Epilepsy is one of the six (only) applications for Medical Cannabis. That would remain legal/available even int he unlikely event that Cannabis Flower is re-listed as a Narcotic. 2. Epilepsy that is difficult to treat and intractable epilepsy(10,11). The prescriber should be a neurological specialist. and have been trained in the use of cannabis extracts for the treatment of patients (3) • Used in difficult-to-treat epilepsy in children, including Dravet and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome(10). • Epilepsy that is resistant to two or more drug treatments(3,11), if drug interactions are expected to occur Consider using cannabis products high in cannabidiol (CBD) (see Dosage and Administration section). • Physicians who care for epilepsy patients who meet criteria for difficult-to-treat epilepsy. The patient should be referred to a service facility. Tertiary health to see a specialist in neurology to assess and provide Continue treatment in case of (3) - Seizures that cannot be controlled with medication - Pediatric patients under 2 years of age - Epilepsy patients who are at risk or unable to tolerate the side effects of epilepsy treatment. - Have a mental disorder or have mental illnesses - There is doubt in the diagnosis of epileptic features. or epilepsy syndrome
  23. There are a lot of "news" articles on Cannabis, mostly in the Thailand News section. These are 85% negative, 15% neutral. Can't remember a single article that was positive. Cannabis stories generate interest, and probably get more clicks than other stories. And negative stories really drive the passions on both sides. And you should see the propaganda on the Singaporean site Channel News Asia, where they talk about all the dead bodies showing up in Thailand with THC in their systems. Since its liberalisation, Smith, a member of Thailand’s Medical Council, has seen more dead bodies testing positive for traces of THC. The hospital where he works, Ramathibodi Hospital, has also seen more cases of cannabis intoxication. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/cna-insider/cannabis-flavoured-gummies-cbd-massages-thailand-singaporean-visitors-beware-3517596 Just wait until next week. As we approach the one year anniversary of de-listing on 9 June there will will be a gazillion "stories".
  24. BLOOD ON HIS HANDS Survivors of Kissinger’s Secret War in Cambodia Reveal Unreported Mass Killings EXCERPTS FROM AN EXCLUSIVE ARCHIVE OF U.S. MILITARY DOCUMENTS COMPILED BY THE INTERCEPT https://theintercept.com/2023/05/23/henry-kissinger-cambodia-bombing-survivors/ Who knew Kissinger had his own recording set-up? https://theintercept.com/2023/05/23/kissinger-phone-call-transcripts/ Or that the Cambodian invasion was the result of Nixon being drunk and Kissinger handing it of the Ge. Haig. Oops. War-criming is so easy. Listen to the man himself. Some of these are painful to listen to so you're warned. https://nixontapes.org/hak.html
  25. On-line sales are illegal. Do you leave your six year old daughter at home, alone? She deals with delivery drivers? That seems weird.
