  1. MTG Calls for FBI Investigation Into Ali Alexander Allegations ‘THIS IS DISGUSTING’ Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is calling for an FBI probe into Trump ally and Jan. 6 rally organizer Ali Alexander, who apologized Friday after being accused of asking teenage boys for sexual pictures, a story first reported by The Daily Beast. She also called out white nationalist Nick Fuentes—who she has appeared at events with in the past—alleging that he knew about Alexander’s illicit proclivities but did nothing to stop the predatory behavior. Critics of Fuentes, including Milo Yiannopoulos, also allege he ignored claims that Alexander was even requesting pictures from within Fuentes’ own organization. https://www.thedailybeast.com/marjorie-taylor-greene-slams-nick-fuentes-over-horror-ali-alexander-allegations
  2. Thank you. In my opinion, I guess the potential crime (there are probably more) would be Human Trafficking. CITIZEN'S GUIDE TO U.S. FEDERAL LAW ON CHILD SEX TRAFFICKING 18 U.S.C § 1591- Sex trafficking of children or by force, fraud, or coercion Child Sex Trafficking is prohibited by 18 U.S.C. § 1591. This statute makes it a federal offense to knowingly recruit, entice, harbor, transport, provide, obtain, or maintain a minor (defined as someone under 18 years of age) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that the victim is a minor and would be caused to engage in a commercial sex act. “Commercial sex act” is defined very broadly to include “any sex act, on account of which anything of value is given to or received by any person.” In other words, it is illegal both to offer and to obtain a child, and cause that child to engage in any kind of sexual activity in exchange for anything of value, whether it be money, goods, personal benefit, in-kind favors, or some other kind of benefit. Section 1591 also makes it a crime for individuals to participate in a business venture that obtains minors and causes them to engage in commercial sex acts. Section 1591 is called “Sex trafficking of children or by force, fraud, or coercion.” Most people think of “trafficking” as involving movement across state or international borders. However, Section 1591 does not require proof that either the defendant or victim crossed state or international lines. When the victim is a minor, Section 1591 does not require proof that the defendant used force, threats of force, fraud, or coercion, or any combination of those means, to cause the minor to engage in a commercial sex act. https://www.justice.gov/criminal-ceos/citizens-guide-us-federal-law-child-sex-trafficking
  3. Correct. If you read the full, linked article, and others you'll see that Mr. Alexander pressured a fifteen year old male for sexual relations. But Alexander had grown frustrated by May 2019, claiming that the still-underage Duncan wouldn’t send him “good jack off material,” according to the screenshots. “You don’t even send me videos anymore,” Alexander wrote, according to the message. “No good jack off material. Don’t even wanna be my side piece.” A day later, according to the screenshots, he asked Duncan to come to Texas for a week for an “internship.” I will stipulate that it appears, in this one case, that it was Attempted Statutory Rape. Let's wait and see if other victims come forward.
  4. OK, but it is still illegal, so let's settle on "Statutory Rape". Thanks for bringing clarity to this thread.
  5. "Title"? Do you mean of this thread? It says "sceptics", that means people who are sceptical about climate change. And no one is being silenced. Not you, and not the increased number of sceptics on Twitter. It is amazing to me how often people claim they are being silenced, often while making this claim on the largest social media platforms. I think people who express opinions, and are challenged, get all defensive and claim any criticism is an attempt to silence them.
  6. I'm begining to think the Republican fascination with grooming is projection. The Far Right Is Roiled by an Underage-Sex Scandal Over the past month or so, the far right has been embroiled in a scandal involving the alleged grooming practices that its loudest voices have claimed are rampant among liberals. According to two accusers who have come forward, Stop the Steal founder Ali Alexander allegedly came on to them when they were teenage boys, asking for nudes from a 17-year-old and pressuring a 15-year-old to have sex with him. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2023/04/ali-alexander-accused-of-soliciting-nudes-from-teens.html
  7. I love these "handbags at dawn" threads. ????
  8. You would think that a Yale undergrad, Harvard Law grad would be smarter than this clown. In all seriousness, I don't get what he thinks his end-game is with his culture-war battles.
  9. Maybe not "legal" but certainly possible... Stoneman Douglas High School shooting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoneman_Douglas_High_School_shooting And more recently... White homeowner accused of shooting Black teen who went to the wrong house in Kansas City will face 2 felony charges, officials announce https://edition.cnn.com/2023/04/17/us/kansas-city-teen-shot-wrong-house/index.html
  10. Another Republican "junk" collector. Is this what Matt Schlapp did?
  11. Twitter is a septic tank since musk bought it. Interesting that "The Twitter Files", initially hyped as "the story of the decade", ended with Mom and Day getting a divorce. About the only productive thing to come out of that hot-mess was reliving Chrissy Tiegen's post about trump, and the GOVERNMENT (aka the trump administration) demanding that her post be removed because it upset trump. Twitter targets its rival Substack, forcing well-known journalists to choose Matt Taibbi, whom Elon Musk solicited to write the ‘Twitter Files,’ says he’ll start using Substack’s new Twitter clone https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/04/07/twitter-substack-taibbi-musk-split/
  12. It is interesting that Gov. DeSantis signed this bill privately and quietly; and announced that late on a Friday evening. Seems weird not to sign this at a big event with a lot of coverage. Seems like he might realize he's out of touch? He'll get shellacked in NH. Top Republican donor sours on Florida governor’s stance on social issues Thomas Peterffy highlights actions of Ron DeSantis on abortion and book banning and warns against courting far-right https://www.ft.com/content/9fa26170-5533-4e0b-a852-238b0ef15118 Ron DeSantis quietly signs Florida's 6-week abortion ban into law The governor had no fanfare around the bill-signing, sending out a news release late in the night. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/ron-desantis-signs-6-week-abortion-ban-law-florida-rcna78989 I do understand that he was away from the state, not campaigning for president, during which time parts of South Florida experienced severe flooding. DeSantis slammed for out-of-state politicking amid Fort Lauderdale flooding TALLAHASSEE — While the heavily Democratic city of Fort Lauderdale was dealing with historic flooding Thursday morning, Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was having breakfast with members of the Summit County, Ohio, Republican Party. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/politics/os-ne-desantis-ohio-fort-lauderdale-timeline-20230414-4xf4jh5u7vb5lmrwwkr5igpqzq-story.html Now he's back to waging war on Walt Disney Corp. because, well, because he's petty, insecure and has little in the way of solutions to real problems facing Americans. DeSantis floats idea of state prison near Disney park Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has floated the idea of building a prison near Disney's Florida theme park. The threat, made smiling, came as he vowed to take new steps to assert state control over the special district that oversees the media giant's property. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-65305166 Maybe get back to the real work of banning books, attacking the vulnerable and relocating immigrants from Texas to Massachussetts? And I do love the Vogue cover of Rhonda Santis, or as the Trump PAC ad calls him, "ole pudding fingers".
  13. SCOTUS would (IMO) say that restricting access to ammunition infringes on the right to keep and bear arms.
  14. Given that we couldn't ratify the ERA there is no way that the Second Amendment would ever be eliminated. That said, I would support the repeal of the PLCAA. https://www.congress.gov/bill/109th-congress/senate-bill/397/text To prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages, injunctive or other relief resulting from the misuse of their products by others. <<NOTE: Oct. 26, 2005 - [S. 397]>>
  15. We're well over one mass shooting per day in 2023. This one sounds like it was one heck of a melee, with at least 28 injured. That's the most injured so far this year.
  16. Another shoe drops with the revelation of his wife's real estate trust, and undeclared income. I think it's fair to say that more shoes - think Imelda Marcos - will drop as Justice Thomas seems to have been emboldened to ignore reporting requirements, and he knows that he is untouchable. Watch this space, as they say.
  17. Start of trial delayed by one day, perhaps to allow Dominion more time to investigate things that came up late on Friday. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/start-trial-dominion-lawsuit-fox-news-delayed-rcna79954 Some predict Fox will try to settle prior to the start of the trial, if only to keep Fox News on-air personalities, and various Murdochs, from embarrassing testimony.
  18. Is your wife already registered to use the on-line system? https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online/ As long as you return to the same address there is no need to file a "new" TM30.
  19. "Most"? Really? Where did you live? Kabul? All these homes were broken into when someone was at home? And how did these burglers/home invaders know that you were a gun owner? So you have just one flat tire repair kit? And one spare? Why not four, of each, you know, to be prepared?
  20. Agreed, but ~ 25 states have passed some form of "Stand your ground" (which has been extended to anywhere you might be) or "Castle Doctrine" laws.
  21. Of course I didn't "miss it", but that argument carries little sway with SCOTUS and gun nuts. And, by the way the exact wording is A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. And, by the way, most gun nuts argue that the "well-regulated milita" is but a preamble describing the "environment", and not a requirement.
  22. The hyper-eligious right will not be sated with a six-week ban. They want a full and complete ban. And they'll want federal bans on all home medical options. And they'll want to prosecute anyone who travels to another state for a legal abortion, assuming any options remain. (They probably will?) And after that they'll want to ban all sorts of medications, pharmaceuticals and vaccines they find objectionable. And then they'll want to ban contraception. They spent 50 years chasing the car, and caught it with Dobbs. They're not going to rest now. With gerrymandered super-majority state houses, and stacked lifetime Federal judges why would they? They have all the tools necessary.
  23. Why do you want to infringe on my right to keep and bear arms? The Second Amendment does not ban fully auto weapons. The Las Vegas mass shooter used bump stocks on some thirteen of his weapons, allowing him to murder sixty-one persons, and wound a staggering four-hundred and thirteen (at least) persons in a short amount of time. While bump stocks have been banned since ~ 2018, I think that ban is on track to be rescinded eventually by SCOTUS. A U.S. appeals court blocks a ban on rapid-fire 'bump stocks' NEW ORLEANS — A Trump administration ban on bump stocks — devices that enable a shooter to rapidly fire multiple rounds from semi-automatic weapons after an initial trigger pull — was struck down Friday by a federal appeals court in New Orleans. The ban was instituted after a gunman perched in a high-rise hotel using bump stock-equipped weapons massacred dozens of people in Las Vegas in 2017. Gun rights advocates have challenged it in multiple courts. The 13-3 ruling at the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of appeals is the latest on the issue, which is likely to be decided at the Supreme Court. https://www.npr.org/2023/01/07/1147698112/bump-stocks-ban-struck-down-court
  24. There are public nude beaches in Florida, where parents can, and do, bring their children. Strange that this hasn't been banned, I mean, you know, to "protect the children".
