Thai PM ‘splits’ salary option sparks debate among civil servants
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The country runs, for the most part, on a single monthly "salary day". It will be challenging for everyone in the supply chain (debt management) to make this change. Not surprised on the push-back. -
Hunter Biden indicted on three federal gun charges
bamnutsak replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Federal appeals court strikes down law prohibiting users of illegal drugs from possessing firearms https://edition.cnn.com/2023/08/09/politics/appeals-court-firearms-illegal-drug-users/index.html Indictment https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/23977714-hunter-biden-indictment Three counts, two for making false statements, one possession of a firearm while being an addict. Now tell me how other similar cases are charged and adjudicated? And let's make sure Hunter gets similar treatment. -
Not sure this would actually harm the already essentially dead Thai education system? Almost any activity, including playing games, might be better than the rote learning of the numbers 1 to 10.

Well this justifies the statement... "The Thai Royal Police get away with murder." Maybe he's been back on duty and was promoted? Meanwhile let's jail a 15 year old young woman for 50 days without bail for holding up three fingers, or jail someone for one year for wearing a crop-top. But let convicted murderers and insurrectionists (Suthep Gang) out on bail. The Thai "justice" system is anything but just.

It's been eerily quiet on the Thaksin health front. One assumes he's making a "recovery"? I think the media strategy on this one is to flood the zone with government news, and the Mafia/Police scandals helps, and let the Thaksin story die down. I expect he'll make a full recovery and get some sort of early release as mid-October was floated previously.

Govt to Heavily Scrutinize Local Influential Figures
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It's odd how they deal with organized crime here. Kid gloves, and euphemisms like "scrutinize" (crack-down) and "influential figures" (mafia, gangsters). And it's like this problem, mafia, corruption of the police, just popped up last week. Who knew? -
I am 100% positive that the 7 day grace period extends to in person filing. Your report by date is 16 Sep 2023, so you have all of next week to file without penalty. Plus, given the issues with the system I expect they'll be forgiving for longer lapses? Imm does send an email when/if your filing was approved. email title: [TM.47] (PASSPORT NO : nnnnnnnnn) FORM FOR ALIEN TO NOTIFY OF STAYING LONGER THAN 90 DAYS HAS BEEN APPROVED

PM Initiates Committee to Enhance Universal Healthcare Services
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Well, assuming this is a priority, and upgrades to the current medical services are one of the top three Public Health issues, you work with your MoPH Minister to make sure he has this as a top 3 task, and ask him for recommendations within 30 days. What you don't do is direct him to form a committee. That's just lazy and incompetent. Let him figure out the best way to fulfill the task you've agreed with him is important. Forming a committee here is, while the Thai way (middle path), is a pre-admission of failure. -
Make an appointment. You have +7 days 'grace' period. https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/ImmigrationOfficeGovernmentComplexChaengWattanaRd@imm1division.onmicrosoft.com/bookings/ (No appointments available day of (today, Fri), but wide open on Monday onwards.) With an appointment go to Counter 4, (main counter just inside the Imm area) for a doc check, then get a card for desk B66. Took me ~ 2 minutes last week.

Thanks, I checked schedules and didn't see anything. But now I see some flights. "Daily" flights means 7x weekly It looks like ALA-BKK is 3X weekly, SU TH SA ALA-HKT is 4X weekly, SU MO WE FR With smaller aircraft, A32x, 767. Just seems weird to include Kazakhstan in this temporary scheme given the relatively few pax capacity? Maybe it's some sort of trade/diplo concession as Thais can travel to Kazakhstan visa-free (I think).

Is it necessary for every previously filed TM30 to be refiled as part of this new system? Or will "old" TM30's remain valid, assuming one's address remains unchanged? What did you use as an Arrival Date (Check in) Date?
-
Kazakhstan? Really? Are there any direct, non-stop flights between Thailand and Kazakhstan? Why not India, second only to China on the VOA list? This is a Visa Exemption right? And not a "free" Visa which needs to be obtained prior to travel or on arrival? Duration? 15 days? 30 days? Can be extended?

They've got to make volunteering much more attractive, or just use Convicts - there is no shortage of those. Offer more pay, training, post service training and job opportunities. And less hazing thereby not killing off the volunteers. And half the conscripts can be replaced with Burmese maids to service the Generals households.

Unless the investigation has been concluded it may be premature to speculate on the exact details which led up to the murder of this officer. The massive effort to paper over this incident has been nothing short of remarkable. The PM, Deputy PM, Senators, MPs, Police have all chimed in on this incident, and the "mafia", which seemingly appeared nearly overnight as an overwhelming threat. I'd like to believe that Pol. Maj. Siwakorn was the only honest cop in the Nakhon Pathom Highway Department, and that he died a tragic but heroic death defending the integrity of the RTP, but I also need some proof. Did he file complaints with his superiors highlighting the extent of the corruption? Was this the first and only time he was approached about green-lighting a promotion?
