Prime Minister “sets record straight” on Thai Enquirer editorial
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
From his tweet Lastly, I am the Prime Minister from PTP, elected by the people and endorsed by the parliament. Please do not undermine the voice of the people. If I am only a puppet, I am a puppet of the people. A threat, wrapped in a passive-aggressive comment. He's not a stooge or a puppet, but he is working his way up to Bufoon. -
Opinion: Srettha shows true colors as military-backed stooge
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Srettha doesn't even rise to the Shemp level. Calling Srettha a Stoge is an insult to Stooges. He's also got incredibly thin-skin, just a scooch thinner than Prayut. Just look at how he has responded (on X) to this opinion piece. Clearly, it triggered him. -
What is your reporting office? Have you filed online 90-day reports successfully with this same address? Does the reported address align with any TM30 on file for you? I think the fine for a late 90-day report is 2,000 baht. If a foreigner staying in the kingdom over 90 days without notifying the Immigration Bureau or notifying the Immigration Bureau later than the set period, a fine of 2,000.- Baht will be collected. If a foreigner who did not make the notification of staying over 90 days is arrested, he will be fined 5,000.- Baht. https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?page_id=1666 Eventually, you may need proof (Receipt of Notification/ Next Report Date) of a 90-day report for other activities at Immigration. So it is your responsibility to have a Receipt of Notification.

US Passport Renewal Question
bamnutsak replied to Felton Jarvis's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
https://aseannow.com/topic/1303983-mailing-us-passport-renewal/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1304572-us-passport-renewal-bangkok-note-prepaid-envelope-cannot-be-accepted-if-you-are-applying-for-a-us-passport-in-thailand/ You use the address you want your old & new passports mailed to. Thai Post will send this envelope to the US Embassy, which will be used to mail to you. Some say, in those threads, I think, that you can buy this "package" at a Thai Post office. Thai Post will mail it to the embassy, but provide you with a receipt which you need to include in your mailer to the Embassy. -
Given that Immigration has, in the past, used copies submitted by foreigners to copy (on the blank side) various forms, instructions, etc. And they've allowed their systems to be hacked multiple times, including the posting of foreigners' locations on Google Maps (with country flags). And they've sold our names and telephone numbers to dodgy visa service companies. I'd say you're just going to have to take the risk. Fudging a form could be much more risky.

Two Red-Rims keeping an eye on him. I think "Stooge" is inappropriate, to Stooges I mean. -
Smart move, beats building more prisons. Strange though given they made two pills or more a serious charge back in February Thailand to toughen rules on methamphetamine pill possession The Thai health ministry on Thursday issued a regulation to classify those found in possession of even one methamphetamine or "yaba" pill as drug dealers rather than users, meaning possession of small amounts could be subject to severe penalties including imprisonment. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/thailand-toughen-rules-methamphetamine-pill-possession-2023-02-03/

US Passport Renewal Question
bamnutsak replied to Felton Jarvis's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Not sure where you got this but that may be the old procedure. When we could (optionally) go back to the ACS to pick up our new passport or buy a prepaid Thai Post EMS slip in the ACS lobby, circa 2019 I think? The new procedure is Step 8: Return envelope, an insured return envelope is required when you are applying for U.S. passport in Thailand. Please pay Thailand Post Courier Pass Back envelope fee 100THB here. (If the page appears in Thai, you may use a translate function into English at the top right corner of the page.) The fee is non-refundable and the mailing information cannot be amended after paid; ensure providing the applicant’s full name and accurate returning address on both shipping and billing address. Then, includes a payment confirmation email in your application package. An actual envelope will be delivered to U.S. Embassy in Bangkok for returning your document. The tracking number will be provided in a separate email from the vendor. You may trace your passport after the processing time has passed by using the tracking number here https://track.thailandpost.co.th/. https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/instructions-for-ds-82-processing-by-mail-and-online-fee-payment-for-u-s-citizens-residing-in-thailand/ https://th.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/90/checklist-DS82-by-mail-online-payment-38-THB.pdf -
Big Joke has been active in the Human Trafficking area for a few years. He helped "clean up" the fishing scandal a few years back. He has been sent to the U.S. to brief them on Thailand's attempts to restrict human trafficking, in hopes of getting a good TIP review. https://aseannow.com/topic/1272109-big-joke-going-after-eleven-corrupt-officials-in-multi-million-baht-illegal-fishing-case/ https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/crime/big-joke-to-visit-america-to-discuss-thailands-human-trafficking-ranking

Thais are largest group of dead foreigners in Israel
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not really. Thai migrant workers have died in previous Hamas attacks. 2014 for example. https://embassies.gov.il/bangkok-en/NewsAndEvents/Pages/Thai-Migrant-Worker-Killed-in-Israel-by-Hamas.aspx And then there's this... https://apmigration.ilo.org/news/what-is-the-truth-about-thai-workers-deaths-in-israel The Thai government entered into an agreement with the Israeli government to supply 30,000 workers. Both governments bear some responsibility. -

Pheu Thai MP supports closure of Internal Security Operations Command
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Internal Security Operations Center, nee Communist Suppression Operations Command. The internal security apparatus of the Royal Thai Army. Used for political purposes entirely. They claim to no longer assassinate people, but they have lapsed. Just can't quit those 55-gallon drums. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_Security_Operations_Command -
US Passport Renewal Question
bamnutsak replied to Felton Jarvis's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes. They, the embassy, send your new and old passports to you from Bangkok to your Thai address. That's why you buy the Thai Post EMS service for 100 baht. -
I did not know this. Can you share the details on this in-flight uniform change (twice)? What do the "practical" outfits look like? Most incidents occur on take-off or landing, so being in the meet n greet attire still presents safety challenges. I guess we'll see this come January when these will be in use. THAI Unveils New Cabin Crew Uniform, a Combination of Thai Identity and Sustainability The Thai Ruean Ton, Thai national dress globally recognized for its grace for over six decades as worn by THAI flight attendants, is now weaved with synthetic thread made of recycled materials and Thai silk. The new uniform offers both aesthetic and utility purposes as it is easier for looking after and flexier in wearing and has passed the safety standards. The Thai Ruean Ton uniform with this new material will be worn by female flight attendants and to be witnessed onboard and elsewhere from 1 January 2024. https://www.thaiairways.com/sites/en/news/news_announcement/news_detail/from_purple_to_purpose.page Synthetic thread made with recycled materials. Hopefully, the flammability test results were acceptable.

Governors Told To Push Families To Bring Thai Workers Back From Israel
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Agreed. Seems odd for the Deputy PM/Minister of the Interior to delegate the strong-arming of families to Provincial authorities (Influential people)? I think the government is going to have to incentivize people to return. Debt (on money borrowed to facilitate transport and kick-backs) forgiveness. Lump sum payment. Offer of a job/training.
