Thanks for reminding me, because I was wondering what had happened to Colin, and I wondered if the accident he had which had put him in a wheelchair, had finally taken its toll?? Anybody know? -

Sure that I have LiK. I hope he survives of course, however as others have said on this and other threads/posts, driving in strange/foreign countries, one needs to be fully insured for not only damage, but accidents to oneself. -

If he had saved the money he had used for his full body tattoos, then perhaps there would be enough money in the kitty to help him – – priorities! -

Oh dear, you might want to stay away from that thread as it's full of Jesus believers/Bible thumpers/miracle workers/mystics and anything else you want to throw into the mix. The discussions they have on that thread are akin to discussions about, "how many fairies you can fit on a pinhead". Best not go there if you want to retain your sanity. -
What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2023)
xylophone replied to CharlieH's topic in Entertainment
I did watch the Jimmy Savile expose and I never did like the character anyway, but this documentary really laid bare his disgusting habits, and what an evil man he was. Don't remember a great deal about the Rolf Harris conviction, but what I do remember is that I thought it was a bit harsh at the time, but then a friend of his daughter came out with the fact that she had been abused by him, so that changed my mind. -
I read some offices might basically deny combination method. I was in the same situation as you, and I decided to free up some money by going the state pension (from two countries) route and topping it up on a monthly basis. However the IO got very annoyed looking through the paperwork I had presented to him and basically shouted at me that next year I should put all of the money in the bank. So I have done that ever since as I really didn't need any hassle with immigration.

Charles is King of 15 countries - but for how much longer?
xylophone replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
Well he was about 67 years old when he said it, and it raised quite a few giggles amongst the audience. I've never heard a man of that age call his mother, "mummy". Anyway as I said it's all over and done now and Camilla can help the poor boy get dressed as he obviously needs some help with this!. -

And it's all over and done with now.....GB has a king who talks to trees and called the late Queen "Mummy" even when he was in his sixties, and Camilla has her own personal King sized tampon. Sorted. -
Thanks for the lowdown on this place and let's hope your condition is not too serious.....and please keep the posters here informed as to your progress. All the very best to you Tiber.

Florida man charged with throwing explosive at capitol riot
xylophone replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
Wrong on a number of accounts, but then again that is par for the course from a trump supporter! Daniel Ball, 38, of Homosassa is facing multiple charges in connection with his involvement in the Capitol attack after being arrested last week by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly assaulting seven people including two law enforcement officers in unrelated charges in Florida. Put him away for a few years!! -
I have just read about his case on the link provided, and just cannot see how this could go ahead, given what is known – – and what is definitely known is that Richard Glossip did not murder anyone. That he may have been connected in some way is very possible, but to get the death sentence for a murder that someone else committed, seems to me to be a travesty of justice.

Have seen some pretty bad experiences with large bangers (firework that is) in my time, and if one exploded near your ears or eyes, then you could be in trouble, so prosecute the thrower, and some. -
What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2023)

I was quite looking forward to seeing "The Pope's Exorcist", however would say that it was only just above average at best, borrowing from the original "Exorcist", "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Romancing the Stone". And the movie wasn't really about the actual "possession" per se, but about a secret buried a long time ago – – will stop there because I don't want to give anything away. If anyone hasn't seen the original "Exorcist" movie then they should, because that is the movie which makes every other movie about that subject, pale into insignificance. Also watched one that I wasn't too sure about, called "Jesus Revolution" and as I am an atheist I was a bit reluctant to watch it, but some feedback on it suggested it wasn't quite how it sounded, although I have to say that sitting through it, was a bit "difficult". However, it was based on an actual movement around the 60s hippie era, which continued for many years, and is based on a true story. -
Young Polish Woman Dies in Motorbike Accident in Chalong, Phuket
xylophone replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
When I'm in my car I get overtaken on the outside and inside by motorcyclists, and on one thread here, or maybe a few, posters have argued that if I am going to turn left I should check in my mirror just in case there is a motorcycle coming up on the inside, which they do more often than not, because I would be prosecuted/at fault – – so what is the case? I agree about undertaking trucks is a risky business. And just to add to the post, when I am travelling up Patong Hill, very often there is a slow truck/bus/dilapidated baht bus travelling in the right-hand lane, so basically everybody has to "undertake"!! -
According to the article, yes he does rent the place and has done for about 12 years, and that brings in another factor – – would the owner of the house (the renter) willingly give over his/her Chanote to a foreigner to take to immigration? Never been the case in the rented places in which I have lived, and even when I owned a house, as far as I recall, immigration didn't want to see the Chanote (memory might be a bit hazy on this though). Very puzzling.
-
You may be right, however that's not how the article reads (to me anyway) because it says the following: – "The requirement for a foreigner to provide a copy of the Chanote title for a property the foreigner does not own appears to be an attempt by Phuket immigration to hold foreigners staying in Phuket responsible under "section 38 of the immigration act" which applies only to landlords and householders". So my understanding of this is that they are applying section 38 of the immigration act to this guy who rents a house, and this section only applies to landlords and householders? Not altogether clear, but then again, TIT.

A friend of mine who has recently left Thailand for a visit to Malaysia has sent me this link and asked me if I've heard anything about it, and I haven't..........Having said that, I do recall that Phuket immigration required a photograph of the foreigner standing in front of his residence, so how true is this latest snippet/headline? Or is he misunderstanding what is being said?? https://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-immigration-demands-title-deeds-home-walk-throughs-for-permit-to-stay-extensions-88012.php
