Tape of some sort over area to drill I always use celotape use a good drill bit nice and sharp and for first hole smaller than the size you need it drill a pilot hole first then drill required size. When drilling don't press to hard or force drill nice and slowly and as slow as possible drill speed. Always used this method and always worked for me.

lj cm if you buy a car registered elsewhere than Chiang Mai then if they are the same as khon kaen and I assume they are you will not be able to change name in blue book there unless you change the plates as well.

When I went the imigration asked me for owners Id and house book phoned landlord there and then he spoke to Imigration lady and told her house book no problems but he would not be sending a copy of his I'D this seemed to do the trick with a 2000bht coffee money gift!! Got first 12 month retirement and 3 month non o so 15 months in total happy days

Biggest problem is if you sell the car is say you live in khon kaen and bought car and registered it in chonburi. Having had this problem myself only yesterday to change ownership in blue book it has to be done where it is registered or change plates then can be done in khon kaen

Hi thought I would share my experience yesterday in buying a car in Khon Kaen.

Lovely pick up great seller no problems there. Go to transport office queue to get engine and chassis numbers checked gave them blue book would not do it!!!!. Parked up went inside talked to a real nice friendly lady upstairs who informed us that the car is registered in Karat so we have to go there to change name in blue book or change plates to Khon Kaen then we can change name to new owner ((me)).OK will do that good says lady come back next friday!!!!! Give credit where due she was good filled in all forms gave her my photo copies and proof of residency all OK seller did same but whoops all change seller has to have proof of residency now (seems this was changed two weeks ago). Off he trots to Imigration got back with 5 mins to spare all paperwork done now wait a week go back get new plates and change name. What a long winded palavour for buying a car But hey this is Thailand

Problem for me is I have lease in my name but landlord refuses to give me a copy of his I'd card thinks I may use it for illegal activities!!!! Explained this to immigration a hundred times even called landlord to speak to them result shrug of shoulders and you need his I'd ??????.

You don't need to do *anything*. Just go to whatever DLT is closest when it's time to pay your tax, and pay your tax.

As for downsides of not changing the plates... hrmmm.. I guess everyone in KK will know where you met your wife/GF?

So when I move just change address on blue book st local transport office and that's all. Is there any downfalls to not changing province.

Hi can't find anything on here re this but sure it will be somewhere. Anyway hi Ian here presently in Pattaya bit moving to Khon Kaen in 6 months or so. Question if I buy in pattaya do I have to re register/re plate the car in Khon kaen when I move. And if so what do I need for this procedure. I know I will have to change blue book to new address.
