Report Ladyboys Brawl on Soi Bangla: Viral Video Sparks Outrage
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Just close the venues down. I think everyone has had enough of the “ ladyboys “ which name is an insult to real women. They’re not nice people. Phuket and elsewhere will regret letting them roam free on the streets where tourists with kids walk. Should they tell the tourists not to go there , continue making excuses ? They never bothered me years ago, and seemed to behave ok. Now they’re a bunch of violent thieves gone viral. Sorry to say Thailand has had a bad reputation for years, but now it’s OTT. The boys, the girls, the Trans , the rip off artists, the dangerous taxis , whole roads dedicated to in your face prostitution with the antics that they get up to in full view , it’s more than pornographic . And no, I’m not a holy Joe by any means, for me the line has been crossed. Authorities, police and the government should be ashamed of themselves. -
Question, if a bonafide touriste enters Thailand wearing a Rolex or other expensive watch, the tourist must declare it on entering ? And does that tourist have to pay duty on said watch even if it was old , or even if he had the proof of payment etc ?? And what about other jewelry items, diamond engagement rings for example , or bracelets ? Id better tell Kim Kardashian and co about this .

Travel Rising Prices, Broken Systems Dim Thailand’s Tourist Charm
geisha replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Wherever you are in life, at home or on holidays, everyone has their own preferences. There must be choice for everyone’s tastes, food, aircon or not. The argument is , it is much more expensive for tourists to come to Thailand today. Prices have shot up since Covid, flights, hotels, not necessarily street food. An average nice hotel in Phuket or Pattaya costs over 4 to 5000 baht a night, and are definitely not worthy of being called 4 stars. -
Travel Rising Prices, Broken Systems Dim Thailand’s Tourist Charm
geisha replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
World class tourist resorts all over the world do not have the pollution that Thailand has. That could have been stopped / controlled years ago with traffic rules, proper maintenance, and help given to the agriculture sector to stop/ reduce the crazy burn season. Thailand takes takes takes, but never invests in tourism. The authorities have no vision whatsoever. -
Travel Rising Prices, Broken Systems Dim Thailand’s Tourist Charm
geisha replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It was the long empty beaches that attracted the tourists, the nice hotels and the kind and friendly people. The beaches are now dirty and crowded, the nice hotels are now 7000 baht plus a night, and the Thais are fed up with it all. That smile has gone. For me , the worse problem is the traffic jams , whether it be Phuket , Pattaya or Bangkok, and the filthy air that we are forced to breathe.- 192 replies

Doesnt say much for Thai hygiene does it. Haven’t they learnt anything in the last 20:plus years. A French man I knew in Phuket had a restaurant. He used to tell me horror stories about his staff. He said you can teach them all you can, but it goes in one ear and out the other. In front of you they do as you say, turn your back and its back to usual. He closed down after a while, his food was fantastic. Who hasn’t seen the up front sushi stalls in Malls, everyone poking them and breathing on them, makes me want to throw up just looking. Or often a stir fry comes with the meat still red in the middle ugh. I often end up eating vegetarian in the one on the left after Tuc Com.Super tasty food and everything in the kitchen shines , spotless . Works well. -
Report Drunk Tourist's Nude Stroll Shocks Phuket Locals and Sparks Debate
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Thailand has achieved, of its own making, a terrible reputation throughout the world. If the police don’t act , lock them up a few days , fine them , then it won’t go away. Stop the motor bike crazies, drunk drivers and people who think they can make porn movies on a pavement in broad daylight ( pattaya last month). Thailand wasn’t like that before. It’s become a swamp of the lowest of the low. -
Just make a list of all the awful things that have happened in mostly Phuket and Pattaya in the last week !!!! It’s becoming unbelievably crazy or dangerous or frightening. I never thought I’d see Thailand like this. It often felt a little on the boring side years back apart from a murder or 2 and some bad traffic accidents. I can remember discussing 2 different murders on Phuket for months and years on end.

But he’s been here for 15 years. I know many of you have been and longer, Would anyone have known then that their pensions would be frozen later on ? Thailand was cheaper to live in too 15 yrs ago, so it must have looked attractive over the UK or many other colder countries. I find it’s disgusting, you pay in alll your working life to get what ? I’m glad I don’t live in the UK, left in 1969, and I’m so glad .

Travel Weak Baht Offers Pattaya Tourism Potential Boost Amid Low Season
geisha replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
I doubt that European families will be traveling far these days. More like staying near home. There’s trouble everywhere thanks to Covid, Trump, the war against Ukraine, emptying the pockets of all governments. Where I live France the hotels are already booked full for the season. Same with Greece, Turkey, Italy , Portugal and Spain. Cheap flights get you everywhere for cheap these days. Or you can drive / train. -

Crime Russian Tour Guides in Hot Water Amid Phuket Police Sting
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Yes, the Russians have been working in Phuket for donkeys ears . They were already there in Kata when I left in 2005 to go to Hua Hin. They’ve got their own circle of workers, taxis , restaurants, everything mentioned by CANSIAM above. One day tried a new massage shop. The girl could speak English, I noticed that she was probably living there seeing her stuff in the back . I asked if the shop was hers, and she said no, it belonged to a Russian. I was amazed, didn’t know that they were branching out to foreign customers. They usually stick to their own. I went back to see friends after Covid, and when Putin attacked Ukraine. The rouble had crashed . There was ( is?) a Russian restaurant on the main rd, opp the old Kata beach resort / taxi rank. It was packed to the rafters every night I walked by, even had queues waiting outside. Just shows how many Russians are in small Kata beach. My Thai friend told me that they had bought up all the cheap new built condos around, and also had built villas/ houses illegally, land that was not to be built on. Well, three years later ( a few months ago August 24, , it was on AN news) the mountain up to Big Bouddha had collapsed and taken a lot of properties with it , down to the main road. 20 years back the locals tried to burn down the front awnings and signs of Russian shops. I think they’ve just given up.
