  1. As soon as the first brick is laid then the fighting will break out again.
  2. I’m not professing to know anything about war , but I’m quite sure that if Putins house was attacked there would be proof of “ who done it”. Nothing is kept secret up there in the sky.
  3. I don’t know who these people are, except the author, which makes it very difficult to understand who they are and what they have done/ or not done. Very confusing post.
  4. Maybe do as in UK would work. A police car outside bars , bar streets , with a few breathalyzer officers checking up. With 20 000 deaths a year on Thai roads , I think it’s time to do something. All those families ruined, children fatherless or dead themselves. It’s a horrifying situation. People should publish the road deaths number of say, UK, France , Germany and Thailand on newspaper front pages. It’s shaming that the Thai government does zero to stop this horror.
  5. Phuket has become the preferred holiday destination for the dregs of French society, drug dealers etc that have the cash to spend and go somewhere where everything “ seems” to be allowed. And news, it’s not only males, the females too. It started ages ago, maybe 15 plus years. I lived in Kata and often went into Patong shopping and a good restaurant. I noticed then the arrival of these thugs that had opened shisha shops and restaurants. They did as they liked, nobody stopped them, often using stolen credit cards. I have a home in the south of France and see how they have ruined quite a few towns and cities., Murders galore , and using young kids as look outs and delivery boys. Now if not stopped, they will ruin Phuket and Pattaya .
  6. Strange story , he must have been in agony.
  7. Unfortunately this is still going on in many countries, especially the poorer ones. Personally , never seen or heard anything of these horrific crimes against children , I suppose they act in very secret circles . I know in Sihanoukville there was a building/ motel where I was told by my moto taxi that children worked there, catering to Chinese. It must be common in Cambodia as there are signs in all the hotels etc about reporting it.
  8. Shame , He’s a good man and very clever with it. Hun Sen will never allow him back into Cambodia.
  9. Are these people born Thais ? Or from where originally ?
  10. Having spent the whole EU winter from Oct to March in kata beach, I still have many friends, getting old like myself. Kata Mama was the restaurant we ate around 5 nights a week. Phuket was wonderful then, 1984 +. Yes , just checked the rates online , wow. It’s for late February. I’m not a beach person nowadays but I swim 45 mins daily. All year round. I’ll check kata Palm . Last stay there was when they re opened borders Covid times. Of course it was cheap then and absolutely dead. Needless to say I caught Covid there but it wasn’t too bad.
  11. Probably not worth re opening. To upgrade the rooms, lifts, safety etc would cost as much as the hotel is worth.´Once debt / inheritance etc sorted it will be demolished. When was it built ?
  12. Hi all, looking for a nice hotel with good pool in Kata. It’s only for a few days, 4, visiting Thai friends. Around the 3000baht night. It has to be walkable, my friends live near Club Med. I’ve seen Wekata so far.looks ok. Thanks.
  13. How about the large plot of land 2nd rd Jomtien , white fenced in last time I saw it, just after Jomtien Rompo Market, near back entrance to Copacabana ? Someone mentioned a shopping mall at the time. ,haven’t been back lately.,
  14. My bank knows where I am . I once was informed that my card had been used in New York , they cancelled immediately and I didn’t loose a penny. The avantages of having a good bank are huge, This new rule is good for Thai users. I’ve never found them very competent. Very narrow minded.
  15. Seems to me that they saved the tiger, isn’t that a very good thing ? As said, the other tiger had been *consumed* by the people in the scam center ? Wow, those scam centers need closing down fast. The retired National park guy is looking for revenge.
  16. What were the Thais doing in Cambodia ? Can’t they leave through Laos ? lack of details.
  17. Probably Laos and Penang profiting from the border closures ? At the same time, closer checks on tourists on Visa Exempt and limits to 2 border hops in a year is bound to affect tourist figures. I won’t complain, it was much better when there was less mass tourism
  18. Haven’t been back to Thailand for a few months, but follow news daily. I don’t hear many complaints of the lack of staff and workers. Just Wondering how they are all managing. My regular haunts seem to employ many Cambodians. I have noticed less Burmese ,maybe since Covid, and the extra police and’ immigration staff checking the Burmese Thai borders for eventual Scam job workers,? Are the Cambodians forced to leave ? Any comments ?
  19. All the islands are flooded in foreigners having a hand in business , mostly restaurants, hotels, and villa rentals . Unfortunately, lots of these businesses are owned by unsavory characters. If the police really wanted to they could stop this. I remember a time when third road Patong was taken over by North African French . They behavior shocked many, afraid of nothing. No idea what it’s like now, but I hear only bad news from Patong.
  20. Not so much the expats , they are generally real. Its since these new visa options, Nomad etc. that these self important people think they can do as they like. By the way, they call themselves Travelers.
  21. Yes, look at FB reports, of which I only believe half. Thailand getting a very bad reputation with * tourists* slagging the country and its lack of rules, blaming immigration for being denied. These *tourists * have a high sense of entitlement , and also an egotistic view that they can do what they like , come and go as they like. Many real tourists are getting worried . The Thai government, or whoever , should make these rules clear, plain, and understandable. And publish them at embassies, airports, land borders and agencies. Is that so hard ?
  22. Must say in my 40 years of Thailand and nearly every year Christmas and New year in Bangkok, I’ve never had a bad taxi driver. I think they do a marvelous job considering the traffic jams , the long hours, the heat and pollution . I always tip well. Now Phuket and Pattaya is another kettle of fish. Thank god for other options. Still expensive though compared to Bangkok rates.
  23. From yesterday’s post on here the immigration is sifting through the visa exemption entries . Apparently many * tourists* are being denied entry due to suspicion of living/working in Thailand. FB is full of complaints. About time thailand immigration needs to publish clear rules and regulations and laws on how many visa runs a person is allowed. One person who was denied entry lost his hotel booking which he’d paid for due to the current high season. So a warning to those who are not « 2 week wonders » do not pay in advance for your reservations .
  24. Hun S’en is one very wicked man,I know from having worked with Cambodians all my life. He is especially mad at the moment dur to the borders being closed, and the thousands of Cambodians forced to go home to their poor families. He belongs in the Pol Pot category of leaders.. unlike many leaders, his only fortune comes from robbing his own country and people blind. Scam centers in the process of being closed down, casinos, closed borders, and less tourists. This is the reason for him pushing ahead, he’s angry. He won’t give up easily.
