  1. Hi, how does Singapore airlines work with the transit ? They fly from France to Phuket transit Singapore so that’s good for me . But is it a valid option within Sandbox rules? Help please.
  2. Owners often complain about the cost of maintenance. A safe building is one that’s checked and maintained regularly. My apartment block in France was built in 1976 and looks like new. Ok, it costs, but is a solid investment. Prices never go down, only up, as theres more room compared to new build, easy to sell.
  3. Look at diplomatie.gouv.fr Coronavirus Advice for Foreign. Nationals in France. It’s the English version .
  4. Hi, I’m in France, just checking, vaccins reconnus par la France, Pfizer, moderne,AZ, Janssens, , covisshield , from consulfrance.org i suggest calling the French embassy, or get family to call from France for you. Are you sure you need to be vaccinated ? You also need to take with you some sort of proof you are a French resident, EDF bill, Ameli attestation , last tax return if you have them. for the arrival at airport. And proof that you’ve applied for the residency. When you applied, you got a document, and you’ve also got your rdv . Print them out. customs can be difficult and many Brits have had problems avoiding a stamp ( tourist) in your passport which you DO NOT need. For whatever reason you can’t arrive at your appointment, let them know by post , email , to change the rdv. Glad to help if need be.
  5. Starts me wondering if the vaccination deals etc have fallen through and they’re not coming ? There would be no reason to postpone opening up sometime October unless there’s been some bad news. Rocketing COVID infections?? Or he’s been told to keep his mouth shut ?
  6. Same problem with the flights with Thais returning from overseas. They are allowed in with hardly any checking. Those repatriation flights were full of infected workers. Same as the working ladies returning from Burma, and likely other countries.
  7. I don’t know how old this lady is, but a lot of the older generation depend on their husband to keep papers, bank accounts etc in order. Surely someone on here has more news on the couple and business ? I can imagine a situation, ( as happened to one of my friends in EU) that when her partner died she had no access to bank accounts and when monthly payments turned up , she couldn’t access the accounts as they were not in her name !, As for this lady, being in a foreign country, possibly without many friends, she could have found herself in dire straits as well as grief and shock. It must be in local news there, and someone should at least call the Hungarian Embassy for her if it hasn’t already been done. A bit of sympathy needed here I think. She should be given time to sort herself out, not locked up.
  8. Thanakorn and cronies better take a walk outside and see what their country really looks like to an outsider. The place is falling apart !!!!!
  9. In France RT PCR tests have been free, and will be until 15 October. Then they will be free if prescribed by doctor, or cost from 29€ to 49€ depending nationality/residence.
  10. I love it. Often went to eat , and cocktails and fireworks evenings on the rooftop. Christmas, New year it’s my place. Easy to get to .Soon as I can, I’ll be back in Icon shopping, eating and enjoying myself. The architecture is fabulous and so is the setting. Certainly a plus for the other side of the river.
  11. BBC announced today that the government will change the rules for entry to UK , probably announced next week, in effect October. They will most probably keep a red list though.
  12. No, if you are British from an Amber list country ( me) you have to pre order and pay a second day test which you will do at home, and then put in a Royal Mail red sticker mail box. List of boxes online at Royal mail.com second day, means the second day after arrival in UK. When ordering your test online, they send you a certificate which you need to enter UK. They send the test to the address you put on the forms, it’s all explained on gouv. You do not have to quarantine at all.
  13. Livinginkata, sorry for hijacking the post. Hi , if situation improves , I’m hoping to come back to Phuket through the Sandbox before Christmas .Reason being I spent 4/5 months a year there for many years, and I have very good friends there. I would come on a 60 day visa which I can then extend. Having been there in the 80s , I know what a quiet Kata beach is like, before the invasion. I still think it’s a choice, though have heard that Rawai is much busier, what are your views please? PS, still come to Thailand but not Phuket.
  14. To deport the child is a horrible act of cruelty, nothing less. The lady is his mother, legally adopted . A mistake was probably innocently made on entering Denmark or before at an embassy in Thailand. Important now, is that common sense takes over, and sorts this out .
  15. Hi, I am thinking of coming to Phuket around Christmas time, or bit before. I lived 5 months a year there for 20 years, but it’s changed a lot I know. I would like to know if I can come in with a 60 days visa ( from France) and extend , on the Sandbox program , as I’d like to spend about 3 months ? I know all the requirements COE, SHA etc. Secondly, I used to stay in Kata beach, where all my friends are. Are there good shopping possibilities here these days ?I used to have to go to Phuket town and Central , or Chalong. I don’t drive in Thailand, tho I suppose I could rent a car. Also, I’ve been hearing that Rawai has really changed for the good. Shopping, lots of good restaurants, but the beach or lack of it ? I would rent a nice condo with pool but I do like a nice beach too to walk , relax, swim . Any info appreciated . Ps, this is all assuming the situation is ok .
  16. Absolute rubbish rules. I doubt any other countries have this. You can even have your preferred tipple in Dubai. Advertising published by Thai hotels abroad, saying, only soft drinks to be sold,in restaurants and hotels. So who the hell is going to come to Thailand if they can’t even get a drink with their meal ?
  17. Flu has “ disappeared” as you say because we’re all wearing masks and have been in lockdown after lockdown for the second year ! Flu jab soon out here in Eu/ UK and they’ve said it’s very important we all get the jab. .They are working on a way to incorporate into the COVID vaccin , but not sure where it’s at yet. Flu still exists.
  18. Thailand and its shanty town shops, and the hotels will soon be joining them. No money, no maintenance, a country ruined by its governments mistakes !
  19. Won’t work, not enough local tourists . It s a drop in the ocean. Also , those traveling would have to be fully vaccinated and tested before leaving or on arrival.
  20. You have missed the fact that most of the COVID infections are local, brought in by Thais returning fro abroad because of very stupid relaxed rules. Why not oblige every Thai arriving in Phuket or elsewhere be obliged to be double vaccinated and full PCR test certificate ? Also the fact that they have to vaccinate all their own people first, and fast . Who are in the hospitals and on ventilators, filling the beds and spreading the virus, their own people. Only then can you open up Thailand properly, but it has to be done super fast, because the Thai people are on their knees, the local economy is broken, Thais need help. That means opening up and helping them. We have to live with this for along time maybe.
  21. Yes, it’s not only South east Asia that has nice beaches, or did have, before they became polluted ! Wealthy people go to the South of France, look at the price of villas on the Cap D Antibes, St Tropez, Monaco etc. Sea water is checked every week there, and there’s a lot of blue flags flying. The restaurants are there, the, wine, the nightclubs, fashion brands, the lot. Wealthy people also live or have villas in the Caribbean, same lifestyle, or parts of Mexico, Belize, USA ,Polynesia. Give me one reason why they would choose Thailand to spend their millions ? Don’t forget , they’re not generally stupid !! Also, you want a beautiful hotel and beach? loads of normal tourists are taking their 2/3 week breaks in sunny Spain , Greece, Portugal , and yes loads go to the Caribbean.Thailand is not cheap for them.
  22. treetops, thanks. A bit of a grey area tho isn’t it ? I would then think that all tourists on the Sandbox program for example, bought their insurance when Thailand wasn’t on the red list, and now that it is, then their insurance is void ? Not very good if you are already in Phuket. Is Avanti an international insurance, I’m in France ? Or, should I go with a Thailand approved COVID insurance ? I’m not coming yet, hopefully Christmas time, but who knows who’s rules change by then !! Thanks.
  23. You show the vaccination pass/ certificate from whatever country you were vaccinated in. Digital, but I always have a print out with me. If you fly , just do a PCR test too. Much safer. Certain countries like the UK, you also have to do a PCR test , ordered and paid for online before you land. Then on the second day of your stay you self test at home and send off the swab box.( even if you’re British!). And yes, when you are fully vaccinated you’ll get it digitally or , and paper form. In EU we need it all the time for shopping malls, restaurants, bars, anywhere where there’s public.
  24. Hi, is is true that COVID insurance becomes void if your home country has declared Thailand a red zone ? Also, if when you bought it, and booked your travel/ ASQ/Sandbox / flights , Thailand ( or other country) becomes a red zone After you have traveled there, would your COVID insurance become void ? Not a nice thought finding yourself with no insurance a few days after arriving at your hotel. I think UK did that to Portugal and put all those tourists in trouble.
