Mom always said if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

My wife is pregnant with our first baby, and is due in 3 weeks. She is 40, and I have talked with her about the possibility of adopting a child in the next few years, as opposed to having another, since she is older (health complications, etc). She was of the opinion that adopted children don't do well in LOS, and are treated badly by their peers, etc. I couldn't get much more information out of her, but it made me start to think.
In the US, adoption is a common and accepted practice, but maybe that is not the case here? Anyone have any experience or insight into this topic? I am trying to gain a better understanding of my wife's mindset.
Thanks

Reasonable pay, zero BS with admin, turn up, teach, go...
I think the Singapore forum has a different web address.

Every time Guesthouse writes one of his diatribes, I always find myself nodding along in agreement. You are right on the nose!

I'd say there's a 99% chance it will happen within the next 80 years. I've heard crash predictions since the last one. Eventually someone will be right.
Exports are indeed as good as they have been.
Way to go out on a limb there.
I have a prediction too. I predict that there is a 100% chance that it will rain in the next week.

It annoys me that every time I come down in the lift from upper floors and the doors open at the ground floor, all the arrogant Thais waiting on the ground floor, rush in before anyone has a chance to get out of the lift.
OR....
if you are waiting on the ground floor to get the lift to the top, when the lift arrives at the ground floor, one Thai guy gets out, you get in to find that he has pushed every button for all the floors to the top.
It means all those unnecessary stops before you reach your floor.
Actually, if you press the floor buttons twice, they will usually deactivate. You can do this to save some time, if it really annoys you. My wife taught me that little trick.
Also, that is not limited to Thai people. There are as#holes all over the world who do that.

I would be interesting in hearing from any teachers who've taught at Sarasa Witead Bangbon School. I teach at Mahidol University, in Salaya, Nakhompathom, and I am investigating schools in this area for my son. I am not interested in opinions concerning other Sarasas branches. I don't need this to turn into a flame fest. Im only concerned with this particular branch.
Thoughts concerning the following would be appreciated, if you can spare the time.
Quality of Education
Administration - Well Administered? Why or Why not?
Facilities
Equipment and teaching materials used
Class Sizes - from K1
Grading Policies
Any other comments you might have.
If any current or former teachers would mind chiming in, I would be most appreciative.
Thanks.

My wife called DTAC to ask them about the number addition.
1) The old number will continue to work until Dec. 1, but you should make an effort to use the 8, to get used to it.
2) It is not necessary to go into the office, recieve a new Sim Card, etc. But! You can go into your mobile office, and they can take your Sim Card, and add an 8 to all the numbers in your saved numbers. If you have a lot like I do, it would definitely be a good thing to do!
Peace

I can't speak about the hospital quality, but your child will not recieve Thai Citizenship. You can register you childs birth at the US Embassy, using the birth certificate you will recieve at the hospital. I would imagine you can do the same at the Mexican embassy.

I appreciate the advice Steven. I think they list is a good starting point. I would also caution people from relying too much on teachers opinions when deciding about school. They can form a part of your decision making process, but they shouldn't be the deciding factor. Too many teachers who post on the websites have an axe to grind with former administrators, and their opinions aren't unbiased.
Just as important would be talking with parents of current students. Finding out their thoughts about the school, educational quality, etc.

I wouldn't ask for legal advice from this bunch. You'll most likely get the slow witted criticisms you've been seeing thus far.
When you need legal advice, talk to a lawyer.

I think it is great that you are trying to find a home for the dog. If you do decide to put the dog down, however, I hope you would take it to a vet and have it humanly done.
On the other hand, if you can afford 14k a month in expenses, you can afford to take care of 1 animal until you do find a home for it. Have the maid take care of it. Just my 2 cents.

Doesn't bother me a bit, but then again, when I moved to LOS, I was finally able to relax and not worry about the small stuff. Felt nice to get that stick out of there...

While a lot of the teachers seem to complain about them, I have heard many good things from parents whose children attend the Sarasas Witead Bilingual Schools.
I have a newborn myself, and we live out in far west Bangkok, so international schools are not an option. Have thought about the Sarasas Witead Bangbon School as a good option, as many of the farang at my university have kids that go there.
