Another impressive and resounding triumph for Democratic Thailand's Ministry of Truth. Well done comrades....the people are now safe from duplicitous free speech and dangerous, unapproved opinions.

Big bike catches fire after flipping on wet highway
This story would be much more newsworthy if the farang in question had a cool, manly callsign* like..."Sparky the Plug or "Big Bad Bikie Boy".
* sorry..."Benz Racing" is taken already.

The biggest single problem is that Thais see tourists as victims to be exploited…not as customers to be welcomed.
The constant scams, ripoffs, price gouging. poor infrastructure, police banditry, military oppression and toxic corruption will not go down well with discriminating, higher end travelers.
Satisfied customers tend to return...poorly treated victims tend to go elsewhere.

Foreign consulates are behind the survey. They have standing in the community
Sorry…but there is only one foreign presence in Thailand that matters….and that is China.
If China ‘suggests’ that the Thai government address the air pollution question, then you’ll see some sort of action. But China has never demonstrated any real interest in controlling air pollution at home…let alone in their economic colonies. They simply don't care about these things. The rest of the foreign consulates may have an ‘honorary’ sort of standing in the community, but they have no real influence.
This survey may generate some polite smiles and a bit of lip service from the Thais. But barring an (unlikely) interest from China…nothing will be done.

Gee…I sure hope they get this whole thing straightened out. If Facebook crashes tens of millions of distraught, devastated, and furious Thai people will go berserk and flood the streets in a epic frenzy of violent rebellion. Quick General….do something!

This is truly a dreadful and absolutely horrific miscarriage of justice.
How is it possible that a reputable, upright, wealthy, and responsible pillar of society (and his mommy)…can be confused with an immature, irresponsible, reckless, selfish, untrustworthy, dishonest, pompous, and habitual criminal (and his mommy)?
Clearly the police in question are sorely in need of a harsh scolding and intensive remedial training in HiSo respect.
Hopefully the courts will immediately correct this scandalous misunderstanding....so the unfortunate victim (and his mommy) can return to their normal lives.

It’s really quite simple for the Forces of Darkness.
Next month they can agree to rescind the “Emergency”….but at the same time insist that the key features of the “Emergency” are vital to the safety of the country. So technically, even if the “Emergency” is 'lifted'….all the means of control and repression associated with the “Emergency” will remain in place.
Will they voluntarily give up the opportunity to increase their control? Not likely. Control to a power-obsessed, autocratic government is like drink to the alcoholic. There's never enough....and it's always going to want more....and more....and more...
So…for all intents and purposes, the “Emergency” is here to stay.
Remember boys and girls...it’s all necessary to preserve the prosperity and well-being of the Thai
generals...er...people.-

But…but…Uncle General is in such a dilemma.
On the one hand he needs to report zero cases of Wuhan Flu to bolster his claim as savior of the nation.
But...on the other hand, he needs to generate enough fear and panic to justify new and improved means of control and repression....disguised as public health measures.
Such an unfortunate quandary….what’s a poor confused authoritarian to do?

Harry and Meghan sign with A-list agency to hit the speaking circuit
This speaking circuit nonsense is so dry, stiff, boring and depressingly predictable. A better idea would be for the dynamic duo to move in next door to Ozzy Osbourne and put together a blockbuster rock 'n roll reality show. The fans would love it and the Markles would make a ton of money.

No challenge is too big for the cutting edge brilliance and collective genius of the CCSA.
One solution might be to quarantine all visitors in their 100% pathogen-free hotel rooms. Old recordings of the Khao San of yore could then be played on in-house CCTV. This way the modern day backpackers will be able to enjoy the original, groovy “buzz’ of Khao San without ever leaving their safe, hermetically sealed and well-guarded hotel.
“The New Normal Khao San…it’s sort of like being somewhere...but not really .”

The ‘perpetually outraged’ are maybe getting a little ahead of themselves.
Better to wait for the Ministry of Truth to rewrite all that incorrect history first.
Then we'll know exactly what books to burn, which statues to destroy, and who needs to be sent to reeducation camps.

….
This is going to be the “New Normal” Khao San Road.
No cheap beer, women of ill-repute, shoddy souvenirs or sleazy street food. The New Khao San Road will lure and entice only the most sophisticated and discriminating of ‘safe bubble’ backpackers.
TAT required guides, military-run dormitory guesthouses, delicious CP food, and an absolutely free CD of the PM's latest love songs will be included in the “Hip Thailand" package of only 40,000 Baht per day…(exclusive of 37% VAT, 30% foreigner tax, 25% gratuity, and 22.5% contribution to the general fund).
Armed police will patrol the area to non-stop insure visitor confidence, while tracking bracelets and a 9 pm to 6 AM curfew will further guarantee the 24/7 safety of all guests.
Throngs of wealthy visitors will surely flock to this latest jewel in the TAT crown.

96 revelers at Bangkok pub charged with violating emergency decree
This treasonous monkey business is positively shocking. Obviously disloyal and subversive elements are trying to take advantage of the government’s kindness and leniency.
It’s now abundantly clear that Democratic Thailand needs the Emergency Decree to guarantee national security.....and the health and welfare of the public demands that it become a permanent fixture of progressive, benevolent, enlightened, rightful, and eternal military rule.
Good order is paramount and must be maintained at all costs.

Therefore the number of police checkpoints must immediately be increased....to further prevent spread of the Virus and insure public health.

Thai, of course. Uncle General has already predicted this...and he is never wrong.
From 2017...
After awarding trophies to youths at the Government House, Prayuth gave an address encouraging children to embrace their language, which he assured could one day become the world’s common language.
“The most commonly used language today is of course English. If it was Thai, we’d be a great power already. Is there a chance? Yes. If you do what I say, one day Thai will be the world’s lingua franca,” Prayuth said.

At this transcendental moment in Thailand’s emergence as the pre-eminent and most trusted nation of the world, all the Thai people are filled to overflowing with unparalleled reverence and limitless love for the enlightened, pious, virtuous, and divine Supreme Leader.
The nation rallies around the Hero General as he unites the people into a powerful and unstoppable force building the only true paradise on earth. In a brilliant masterstroke of travel genius…City Hall has further announced that all tourists (with the exception of trusted elder brothers and sisters from China) will be quarantined for the duration of their stay in completely safe and confidence-inspiring 25,000 Baht per day hotel rooms. This innovative idea is guaranteed to lure tourists by the millions.

Thailand to train 10 million people in CPR over next 3 years
It's a good idea. But...what will probably happen is...
The Health Minister (and his helpful cronies) will decide they need...say...1000 Baht per trainee. Then they'll make a big show of it all, while actually training maybe a few thousand people....mainly for the photo op. The whole idea will quickly be forgotten and the rest of the money will become pure profit.
At the end of the day...even after giving dozens of government officials their cut of the action....Anutin will still take home trainloads of cash.
Never underestimate the truly stupid.

Okay....everyone knows that checkpoints are:
a) A visual 'in-your-face' reminder to keep the proles in fear and focused on who is in charge.
b) A good opportunity for the police to extort money from random and miscellaneous victims.
.....but how on earth does a gang of rogue police hassling people in the middle of the night benefit public health?
This circus of a government goes further down the rabbit hole every day.

Police swoop after woman spots ‘spy’ phone in public toilet

All Thai police cadets are taught the ancient and deadly martial art of ‘swooping’. Wrong-doers, ruffians and other assorted scallywags are helpless when confronted by the skilled 'swoopers' of the Royal Thai Police.
