But possible anyway ...day by day KLM fly Amsterdam and from there connections flights  availble to  World destinations

Maybe you do not know the situation...

Netherland is under huge increase of cases, like many countries, so it could be locked down without notice.

Connection to another country may require a test within 72h, and in Europe (departure) of course they impose that without the capacity to test too many people... Could take 4-5 days so you are f. u. and have to deal with hotel, ticket change, re-test, etc.

Have to find a test in Bangkok (200$ or more of course) with result let's say in 24h, and plan trip with not too much transit. For example to go to Latin America. And better pray the planes have no delay or cancelation.

If you are stuck in transit for any reason, you could end-up in months of lock down in a country you have nothing to do.

    Etc.

Many here do not want to understand but travel is not f. "normal" now !

Maybe not for you david, but for the many messages out of reality here saying "but no problem you can fly". Now it's very tricky, uncertain.

But this is not the topic.

I went to the immigration office today and the immigration volunteer said to either leave the thailand before September 26th or change to other long stay visa pay about 70000 baht. This is legal solicitation of bribes and I think the Thai government should do something about it.

    Indeed.

And this whole mess is huge :

    - During a pandemy

    - Thousands of "agent use"

    - Threat of massive arrest

    - Even the guy from Immigration is saying something like "somehow" people managed to get a "proper visa" without going out of the country, in one media at least. That speak loud.

This will blow up in the "face" of gouvernement if nothing is done before the 26th.

Any others tried to obtain extensions (without embassy letter) at Chiang Mai Promenada, Ubon or any other of the 'friendly' I/Os recently? Only a few reports of success so far, some mixed with others saying they went to these I/Os ^ but were still asked for a letter, so not a great sample size to work with right now. Please do share your experience!

Would be very helpful for those of us considering on making the trip to any of those cities this coming week + choosing the right I/O to go to with the best chance of success ????

    Same thought.

It's only ONE or TWO report of this normal extension in Chiang Mai ?.........

Same i do not feel too much to make the trip without more reports.

In total absence of OFFICIAL note about this too......

So BK Herald reported on the "No Amnesty" situation. They claim that since CCSA did not propose anything to the Cabinet, further extension will not be on the table at all this week.
Also, they talk about options for Non-B's and Non-O's.  Good article, actually.

    https://bangkokherald.com/thailand/get-legal-or-get-out-thailand-visa-amnesty-ends-saturday/

    Interesting article indeed.

Talk too about the impossible situation for many.

And basically NO OPTION for tourists if your Embassy does not provide the magic letter...

Not to mention the non-sense of not letting people get the new tourist visa inside.

Or to just pay, more but officially, to get things sorted out.

26th and it will be a mess and a shame i predict.

The author of the article probably meant "extend tourist visa". Sometimes, the word choice is not so accurate.  Even "visa" is incorrect in this context. It should be "extend permission to stay".

There is neither way to extend tourist visa.

And again to extend permission to stay, for many people, no other way than the AGENT route.

It's official corruption here, in the virus circonstances. Massively documented.

Would look terribly bad for Thailand if no correct solution is annonced by the 26, would blow up.

  6. So, as immigration said in some newpaper... renew tourist visa ???

Did i miss something or what ?

There is NO such thing as RENEWING a TOURIST VISA no ?

    Only option are :

Embassy letter : no way if your Embassy does not provide it.

Medical : we are not sick yet thanks...

TRANSFORM visa : in MANY CASES impossible without agent-corruption !

They will annonce something, or this official corruption system will blow up in the media i guess. Especially if they arrest people for that.

  7. Pay extra is not the problem.

The obscure agent route is the problem.

And called corruption. Could backfire on gouvernement quick if they arrest people.

The stupid thing is the Embassy letter. Many Embassies do NOT provide them.

To just get rid of this non necessary document would be an easy late safe move.

Or just a fine at departure for overstay, without any other problem...

    We will see tomorrow...

BK Post has a headline warning against overstaying. The article says "Over 150K" foreigners have yet to extend their permission to stay in Thailand.  I wonder if that will be enough to motivate them into once again extending the amnesty. That's a lot of potential brown envelopes they'd be walking away from. ????

    Interesting article.

Would be crazy they start to arrest foreigners en masse.

150K foreigners without new brown envelope ? Not clear in article, but if so...

In the meantime they desesperately try to get 1200 new tourist a month ? ????

So that's one report from Samui and Ubon (both some time ago so who knows if things have changed). On a FB group reporting from CM just 1-2 days ago - a Spain passport holder got theirs without embassy letter, whilst a US passport holder got rejected (told to come back with letter, TM30 required too). Really doesn't help as both countries are Visa-Exempt, guessing it'll just come down to a roll of the dice and the mood of the officer you get on the day.

Might have a better shot convincing them if you're on an actual TR.60 stamp (purchased from a Thai consulate abroad) rather than on VE/VOA and haven't yet claimed your extra 30 days, or might be the same. Who knows.

Could just be that American can have Embassy letter, European can not...
