I understand it is difficult unlike a wife which you can bring back to usa for a short holiday . gf is not highly educated and have no earnings but I would to have her join me in the US. I have always wondered how immigration track which method you use prior year . At the time of my renewal , I show them my bank documents and they process it . they never ever ask me what method I used last year . With that said , does even need to have the bank deposit or just show one year of income method? Just curious .

upon entering Thailand on visa exempt , I apply within 30 days For the o visa . (Funds already in bank) So the o visa is for 3 months only , then anytime before 3 months , i then go get the extension which is 12 months. This is what we extend annually . So kind of apply 2 times with the funds in the bank ?

Can you share how much insurance you needed for the 90 days O visa. I get conflicting information from the consulate in US. LA consulate ( Insurance – Applicant must have a health insurance for the duration of stay, with coverage for covid-19 disease with the total sum insured of THB 3,000,000 (100,000 USD) per policy year.) and the DC consulate (Applicant must have a Thai health insurance for the duration of stay, with coverage for outpatient treatment of no less than 40,000 baht and inpatient treatment of no less than 400,000 baht I think I might end up just applying for the visa exempt to enter thailand versus getting an O up front

For my situation, I am aware that to change my oa to o visa (avoiding the dreaded insurance req) , I have to leave the country and return back as visa exempt and then apply for o visa at my local Thai immigration. In light of the difficulty of returning back to Thailand , can anyone suggest a way I can get an oa while still in Thailand. For example , would letting my oa visa ex Extension expire, get the covid extension instead or ..and the apply for the o visa worked ? thanks for any inputs . I am trying to avoid travel during this period but want to stay long term in Thailand without the mandatory insurance .
