Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Alotoftravel replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
As always thanks for the info .i am going to also try to link my bank account to the pea Volta app instead of top up card . Another charging discussion : I believe the most efficient time spent to charge at public stations is to dc charge from 20-80 % Soc. Since the time spent from 30-80% ( eg 35 minutes ) could be similar as for 80-100%. ( eg another 30 minutes). Question : is it correct that you only pay the kWh into the car battery and not time spent . So that means the last 20 % charge of 30 minutes does not cost the same price as first 50% charge even time spent is similar ? I do not have home charger and was recommended to charge to 100 % once a week . question: if I had already have a 80 % soc .should I use ac charging to top up to 100 % since it will not be advantageous of fast charging as the last 20% charge is throttle down and furthermore ac charging is less “hot” than dc in the car battery ? thanks again for your comments . all this is making me sway towards the 61kwh battery than the 44kwh battery of the dolphin even though this is will be my second car and only driven in the city . 555 -

Hi Andrew, I understand now , if the charger is in a private area , like a mall instead of in a gas station then ev PluZ charges 9 baht. I just got confused over this particular charger as it was built open air , beside a 7 11 with a few eating conveniences along a main road . Appreciate your reply . Thanks -

Hi Can someone help me understand ev PluZ pricing . This morning before their peak hour . I look at their ev PluZ app , this station states that it is 9.00 thb/kwh. Isn’t it suppose to be 5.5? thanks . -

I was informed by BYD sales to take delivery of car (buy) by Dec 31 st 2023 to get the EV 3.0 subsidy (150k) , Allowing registration the following month by EOM jan 2024. Ev 3.5 will commence Jan 2024 . Caution : This is not fact check . -

For those BYD owners, are your turning off the automatic emergency braking or lane keep assistance . I read on Thai forums that Thai road Aren’t suitable to this software functions but wanted to validate .i appreciate your comments on BYD safety software features . Thanks -

Interesting with BYD pricing : AUS seals are less expensive than Thai seals while Aus dolphins are more expensive than Thai dolphins . -
SSA Form 7162 Time Again
Alotoftravel replied to John Drake's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Would it be beneficial to change from thai address to USA address to avoid annual 7162 form annually. Is it a lot of paper work once again as I understand it cannot be changed online? I applied using my Thai address . I did not know about 7162 when I applied . My ss is currently deposited to my usa bank account . i am able to use a USA address ( family ) . -

Thanks , so 9 baht kWh. We just get a slower charging output , just more time needed . -

Hi BKkbike09, do you mean if there are there are 3 cars using this charging station at the same time , We might be paying the 9 baht for 120 Khw but getting less output kWh since all 3 cars are charging, thus more time charging and unfairly charged ? -
I am a new recipient of SS which I deposit in a usa bank account . I have a Bangkok bank savings account which I use in for Thailand spending . Presently when I needed funds in Thailand , I transfer from my USA bank account via domestic wire to the Bangkok bank in NY. This is then transfered to my Thailand BKk savings account which I do not have an atm nor I have to be present at the bank branch for withdrawals. does it make sense to deposit my SS to the Bangkok NY directly or is it more beneficial or leave it as is. As I read this forum , there is much to know . Thanks

My BYD local sales told me no finance available for foreigners . Still searching for a Finance bank contact to assist . Might have to be cash purchase. -

Even with the reduced pricing , there are good reasons to go with BYD: -does not include 1st year insurance and car registration -only 1 service center in BKK for repairs , warranty and maintenance. -need to pick up new car in BKK and drive back to far away province home . -longer car And battery warranty -24 hour road side assistance for 8 years -Recharge cable and v2l cable included -less expensive car insurance premium etc . -

Is it possible to get a loan as a retiree here (not working in Thailand) , offshore pension income . I was informed we could not . Just checking .i too have the amount in the bank Did you mean you can add that small BYD camera and splice into their Wiring harness (video install instructions ) without impacting the car warranty? -

Anyone know if the ByD seal moved to one pedal brake driving . I know the dolphin and Otto did not subscribe to one pedal ( Volvo and Tesla uses one pedal) i am not sure if it is better with one pedal braking , just different tech as BYD does a similar regen process that uses the brake too for regen for a moother ride ). -

missing from the Dolphin ( although the camera can be bought and fit to the Dolphin very easily ). andrew, I was informed by sales that it would void my car warranty if I installed BYD camera that fit into the dolphin . Has to be an external camera I believe , unfortunately . -
