I talked to a BOI rep. He told me that changing to self insure is not a problem. I need to show prior one year account statement of 100k prior to renewal ( 2 months before LTR expire )He also said it can come from multiple accounts and can even be in money market fund ( of course cash equivalent ) No need to liquidate to cash .

Electric Vehicles in Thailand

Due to recent floods, I read on Facebook that car insurance does not cover water damage battery due to flood . Is this norm for 1sr class insurance in Thailand ? For those who bought cars that includes insurance , I hope flood and fire is included . Any thought about which insurance company has better coverage ? -

Pm 2.5 is essential here up in the north. I am sadden to read the new 2024 BYD Otto dynamic 480 priced at 889k does not have it . It might be an omission by the media publisher . Anyway at least the next model, 945k Otto 3 premium 480 has the pm2.5. -

aarg, found out that Byd took out the pm 2.5 filter from the dynamic . Guess BYD had to cut some stuff out to sell it at 899k. However they did upgrade battery 50.25 , continental tires and reduce 100k. -

PiB, thanks for the reply. I like BYD Otto 3 option to turn off Ada’s if I decide not to use it (turn off once) unlike the mg 4 that requires a turn off upon a start. Appreciate your ownership responses . Will check put the Otto 3 standard 899k in may . not sure if the 950k model is worth it( larger screen and wider tires ) -

Hey Pib, Can you, please share your driving experiences with your Otto 3 . I am most interested on BYD adas system ( I like your comment that you use standard regen with normal mode ) Have you disable any of their adas system.? Appreciate any experiences , the 899k baht may delivery with 7.9 se. 0-100 kmh sounds attractive even with the standard battery -

I was discouraged to open a foreign currency deposit at Bangkok bank because of the high fees and paperwork to withdraw to convert to baht for everyday expenses . Could you please share your experience why a foreign currency deposit has been your choice of account please? What are the advantages Besides having in USA currency? -

Alotoftravel replied to macahoom's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Good to know in Thailand , we have the option to disable till we enable it ( part of software menu) . This option available is invaluable as the comments I read on the video indicated that removing the ADAS function manually invalidates insurance coverage . -

I thought you can save your settings to Disable ADAS so that you do not need to disable again after startup . Are the Thai seal different than AUS seal. If not , how are your experiences with BYD ADAS. -

i am in the same camp. I will do my normal dc charge from 20-80 for time savings and will not let it go below 10 % soc. Thanks -
Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Alotoftravel replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
This is very useful . Since I do not have a wall charger at home . For me I will just do my normal outside dc charging - dc charge from Soc <10% to 80 % and then let it continue to complete 100% . Since I get charge by kWh for time spent for the last 20 % is no issue . Is it beneficial to switch from dc to ac charge for the last 20% charge ? I always thought that estimation range in nedc was higher than wltp. It was great to see you achieve above nedc km as your trip a meter showed over 500 km. I thought using dynamic ( better than nedc and wltp) would even be less range than 490 advertised range but you showed otherwise .this has been very informative . Thanks -

When the car is turned off, does the car have internet connectivity always on ? I assume internet connection must be active regardless of the car “off “to gain entry. If you are at home with a Wi-Fi , does the car always chose the Wi-Fi lan as first priority automatic over cellular like our phones? use OTA Wi-Fi to download new version in the future ? -

This is good information to anyone with no home charges ( live in condo ). Every 3-6 months perform a full charge to 100 % soc with a public 7kwh ac charge . If starting at 10 % Soc ,use dc charging till 80% and then 7kwh from 80-100 %. if starting soc is already at 80%, then just top it via ac to 100% for the recommended recalibrate /equalization once 3-6 months . too bad , BYD does not display the message reminder to recalibrate like the MB 555 :) i ordered a dolphin standard and now I am thinking of changing to dolphin extended due to the dc fast charging to 80 %. A 80% charge is enough for my daily use while I might need 100 % for the dolphin standard which will be a much longer charging time due to the last 20% charge .Thanks everyone to this forum . Moving from ICE to EV is easier with you all. -
Wow , good information about that the reboot and booking time slot . Thanks everyone Good to know that my charging can be stopped if there was someone who booked in the next time slot . in your case , if there was a booking in the 9:30 slot you started at 9:27 . You would only have 3 minutes charge .. so in this case , a booking would be ideal to avoid to be bump after 3 minutes

what does it mean with regards to reboot at 55 hours to the hour. i thought it was what you use kWh ( energy usage 5.5 baht ) that is amount you pay.
