  1. Depends how much time you have, customs duty is only over a certain amount £15 ish.
And it's only tracked deliveries handled by DHL or ups that sting you as they get a finder's fee.
If you ask them to say gift at a low value and send it standard EMS that will be delivered by Thailand post, you should not get customs duty.
    Otherwise I don't know

  2. You would have about 3 hours to get to the consulate (it is not an embassy) since they accept applications until 12:30.
    See: http://www.thai-consulate.org.hk/web/3015.php
I wonder if that is enough, I've done a Google map and it's about 1hr on the train to the consulate, I figure 1 hr to get to the train through immigration, 30 mins flight delay!
On a Tuesday after a public holiday which might increase the number of people applying.
    Could be close!

  3. Hi guys,
I have signed up for a Thai language course with ED visa. I have two questions:
The school says Laos is where most students go to get their ED visa processed, but I want to go to Phnom Penh as I lived there before and know the place. Anyone heard anything about getting the ED visa processed in Phnom Penh?
The paperwork from the Education Ministry will not be finished before my 30 day Visa Exemption (the one you get on demand at the airport) expires. I know I can get another 30 day extension at immigration for 2000 baht, but are there shorter-term options available?
    Cheers.
I suggest you read other posts on PP & visas, there seems to be a unspoken rule that Khmer help other Khmer especially if it means earning $$ from a foriegner. (Considering the recent history I'm not blaming them)

Basically if you don't use a local agent to obtain your visa you'll be given the shitty end of every stick.

If your happy to use a agent all power to you. In my experience they're reasonable value.

Please post a report on your experience.

  4. Great info, thanks! Can we presume, that other Thai embassies and consulates would be okay with such a ticket, too?
I support people reporting on if regional Embassy's do this.
And hope the mods could pin them into the SETV local report thread.

I'm fairly happy to book my trip @ 85+ days that far in advance.
Legit tickets, no waste, usually better prices.
    Win-win!?

  5. What if one decided to spend another 2 months or so in Laos, Cambodia, etc., before entering Thailand?

Would it be okay, in this case, to have a flight out after 2+2=4 months (staying 2 months in a neighbouring country, then using the 2-month visa in Thailand?? (Or would they then ask for the 2-month hotel booking in that country?)
    I don't know.

But on the visa application you have to provide evidence of entry into the country, they could see you will delay entry until XXX date and the ticket out will be within the 90 days of entry.

    But different Embassy different rules.

HCMC was very quick to reply by email.

  7. Agents associated with every consulate in the region offer the sale of the sort of ticket-solutions we can't talk about for legal reasons.  The fact is, whether you buy a ticket you never intend to use and throw it away, or use another method, the end-result is the same - you are showing something to a consulate with is not really your intended plan.  Consulates know this, just as they know (and advise) people to get new passports to get rid of the "this person frequently..." red-stamp.

When I was doing the consulate-hop and this "show an air ticket" business got going, I purchased tickets I could actually use for my next trip-out - about 80+ days after the day I was at the consulate.  You get better prices farther in advance, so why not?
I was under the impression a ticket out had to be within the official 60 day visa period and not within the possible 60+30 day period.

  8. Where can i buy a Pedometer in Chiang Mai ?   Asked in a few places and got the usual blank looks or 'no have'.
Show them pictures, I get a better response. Try the big sports shops in central plaza

  9. I suggest
    1. Your last job, or what your qualified to do. Better not to give them a hint your not working.
    2. Put your address back home, again don't give reason to make them think your trying g too live in Thailand on a tourist visa
    3. I've left it blank before, you'll see the form is also used for other visa types that need a guarantor.

All the best - please post a experience report, I'm planning on Hong Kong for my next one. Never been before and would like to visit for a few days.

  10. My mind is boggled indeed. Not to say why invites all sorts of suppositions. Perhaps you answer why later in the thread.
Only reason I ever wanted distilled water was for the car battery, and rain water is ok for that.
In the hospital I'm sure we had that, so have you tried the local hospitals or laboratories?
OP posted about getting medicinal plants from Malaysia it's probably connected.

  11. Search for tribulus terrestris on eBay there are a few Thai sellers
It's stimulates the body to make its own rather than replaced and food it with artificial. They body will just stop making its own and you'll get dependant on the artificial.
