  1. Better to bum off of someone else's business that meets capital requirements, or a law firm.

What is the passport nationality of the OP?

    Canadian.

So it would be legal for me to find a farang who has the necessary thai - farang employee ratio, and have him hire me? He'd then pay me, pay for social security or whatever, and I'd compensate the farang for providing this service?

Sounds legal to me, but probably shady.. as there are job placement agencies where I come from where you pay for a job.

Why not be a legal "nomad" in Canada?

I am. I pay taxes in Canada and have employees in Canada.

The only issue I have with the back to back tourist visas, is I'd like to be able to drive legally here.. with insurance. I have no driver's license anywhere in the world, and am under the impression that I cannot get a driver's license with a tourist visa.

You will also discover , if you have not already, that the back to back TV's will become increasingly difficult to obtain.

  3. At least the OP has a TR visa... unless what he's calling a TR visa is actually a visa exempt entry and associated border running? Otherwise, not sure what is so painful aboutsible on a a proper TR visa as it is as close to legal as a digital pikey can get (still illegal but as long as nobody's looking).

    ------------------------------------------------

On the top of many TR visas it says quire clearly "Employment is prohibited".

That means ALL employment in Thailand on a tourist visa.

Employment is possible only on a real legal working visa.

And it requires a work permit, either by being hired as an employee by a Thai company, or, if you have the Capital founding your own company and hiring the required 4 Thai employees.....and legally generating the income to support 4 Thais as well as yourself in Thailand.

No such thing as real legal working visa in Thailand a non imm B is not a work visa... the only thing that permits work in Thailand is a work permit from the DOL nothing to do with visas or immigration departments

I know i am being pedantic, but one should stay away from the term " work visa" in Thailand as there is no such animal

Agreed but without an appropriate visa a work permit cannot be obtained!

  4. Yes I've done my research and from what I understand all visa whether it be marriage, business, education, tourist are all a hassle.. it just seems like tourist visas are..less of a hassle..

So from what I'm gathering from you guys..

submit my visa application with financial proof in the way of bank statements (6 months&military pension?)

i also dont understand the point of onward travel..i was told by the embassy staff member my onward travel ticket cant be back to Thailand.. so if I fly to some neighboring country and then from there I can fly back to bkk?

im just trying to get back to thailand.. i have all my things there in my gf's apartment

People with "Tourist Visas" arrive in their millions every year, they are Tourists. They enjoy their Holiday then leave!

    Are you a tourist ?

If not secure a different type of visa.

Many expats live in Thailand without "hassle" but not on back to back TVs and visa exempt entries.

  5. If you are "living" here on the back of tourist visas the the Embassy are simply asking for evidence that your financial funding is coming from abroad.

The Embassy staff are entltled to ask for thisinformation and are also entitled to ask to see a ticket out of Thailand.

"Immigration officers" do not work in Embassies/Consulates !

The short "overstays" will not be the issue. IMO

  6. There is no "dependent" visa!

There is a long list of countries whose citizens cannot obtain visas other than in their own country.

    http://www.phuketimmigration.go.th/main.php

Your wife needs to obtain an "O" visa from a nearby country. She will need her marriage certificate (In English or Thai) and copies of your passport data page, visa and extension of stay.

Once she has the visa she can apply for an extension of stay as your dependent.

You both will need to attend the immigration office to get this.

In what way you think there is no dependent visa? Why there is in Chiang Mai immigration special counter for DEPENDENT ? I dont understand you observation. Can you provide me with information which countries needs to apply at their home? except Nigeria and North Korea?

or you are telling me that in my coutry or Laos, I should ask for non O visa, and then when visa expires in chiang mai immigration extend on basis of a marrige?

    Please yourself.

If you "know" a dependent visa is available then apply for it.

The list of countries is in the link below --------sorry the last link I provided was in error.

    http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/contents/files/services-20150909-173935-504463.pdf

This list is applicable to most(if not all) Thai embassy's/consulates in the region.

I do not believe your country is on the list.

  7. Gees- sorry for the confusion, I lived here 4 years on a marriage extensions, Had to leave and came back on an 90 day non-imm O visa. I was at the office for a one year marriage extension. On a more constructive note---- I do live quite a ways from the office, it takes me 2 hours to drive north to get my bank letter and then south to Immigration. I have been told by the bank that many people are returned because the Immigration will not except day before letters. While at Immigration I asked two officers about this (including the one in question) and was told "Only for retirement extensions are the same day bank letter required. Marriage extensions have seven days before."

Back on topic. Because of all the news about bombers getting into the country without visas, and hearing that more and more people are getting house visits now, made me think that this fee was possible true. It was after I had giving him the money and he wrote the receipt for 1900bt did I question him and asked for a receipt for the added 3000. That is when he said there would not be one. Then I asked him to sign a paper saying I gave him the money for the "investigation fee" and he refused. At this point he had my money and as I said earlier, I didn't want there to be a "special problem" with my extension.

I was also charged 2,900 Baht. The regular 1,900 for a new visa and also since I had a new passport, when I went in, they also charged me another 1,000 Baht to transfer my old visa to my new passport. Even though it would only be good for a couple more weeks at best and until me new one is ready.

Since you left the country and came back on a 90 day, perhaps this was your extra charge to? To move your one year extension on to your passport while waiting for your new one? I don't know.

But before you start a fire in that immigration office I would be 100% sure of your facts first. As far as I can tell I have never been cheated by Immigration ever.

BTW, for my New Canadian Passport it cost me about 7,100 Baht ($260 CAD). If you want to talk about Highway Robbery then this is a far better example of that.

This was just an extension to my 90 day visa. My last year extension ran out while I was away. For those that don't understand, you can't get a exit permit and then return after your extension has run out on that return permit.

There are no "Exit" permits only Re-Entry permits.

  9. .......

What kind of visa you are on, what nationality you are and what nationality your wife is. Stuff like that.

OP has not fully answered this question about his passport and his wife's passport.

Russia, I dont understand why is this important? Isnt it every nationality regarded equally?

It is important because the citizens of many countries can only obtain visa in their country of origin.

  10. This gent can easily acquire a visa by post from the Thai Embassy in London

If he is in receipt of a State Pension he could get a 12 month multi entry "O" visa.

    .

If this gent is making frequent 30 day "visa exempt " entries he can continue to expect to be challenged as to what, exactly , he is doing.

There is NO 180 day limit/restriction on time spent in Thailand.

    [/quote

He is only in receipt of the U.K. state Pension, less than £10k a year, not sure he would qualify Multi Entry O

    Visa ?

    Detail in the link!

    http://thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/49

He will, as part of the application for an "O" visa, have to provide evidence of receiving a UK State Pension.

The multi entry visa lasts a year gives 90 day entries.

The visa cannot be renewed although if you friend can meet the financial requirements an extension of stay could be applied for.

A new multi entry visa can only be obtained from the London Thai Embassy.

  11. It seems to be misunderstanding with what the school said. Immigration still doed the extension of stay for attending a language school but they will only be for 90 days at a time. The 6 months would be for a 200 hour course of study. I order to get a total of stay of one year it requires 400 hours now.

If you are on an extension of stay yout spouse can get an extension equal to yours as your dependent. She should be able to get the extension of her ED visa entry without needing to go out for a non-o visa but that will depend upon the immigration office where it is applied for.

Unless your spouse if from one the countries shown here she could get the non-o in Vientiane. http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/upload/pdf/RestrictedCountries2013.pdf

Hello, yes i agree with you that 400 h is for 1 year edu visa, except that in Chiang Mai in last 3 year you could buy 200h thai language course and stay one year.

( Actually it is 180h, and they barely keep promises to keep it until end-very famous and respected school at Nimman)

Buying 400 h is expensive and my wife doent have time to spend so much apart of our 2 years daughter, and skipping classes or not going it is not good option, We dont feel comfortable doing it!

But I saw at immigration laws, rules, that this kind of dependent visa exist. what should we do?

For an accurate response you should inform members on what basis you are staying in Thailand. (There is no "working visa")

    Did/do you have a none "B" visa?

Have you got an extension of stay?

    What nationality is your wife?

Answering these three points will assist in providing the information you seek.

  13. This gets me thinking. I still have 4 years left on my American passport, but have only 4 pages left. I am thinking that I need to get more pages at my embassy. Am I correct? Why get new passport now with the aggravation of tranferring my retirement and muli-entry visas.

No, not anymore - they won't put additional pages in a passport - changed somtime last two years or so.............thy will get you a new passport.

BTW - only applies if you are American - just read where the OP is Irish ?? Find out from youre Embassy

The American has until the end of this year to obtain extra pages.

As far as I am aware no other country will add additional pages to a PP and America will cease this practice as from Jan1 2016

  14. I had this similar pain and I just could not raise my arm. The doctors , physicians , masseur , masseuse and what you can think of were of no help but I went for some treatment and it actually helped me to relieve the pain after 7 years only to find out the worst... I had suprasellar meningioma.. Well I am half blind now , No medical treatment except for the very expensive life endangering and risky operation I need to have. I can't afford it and just waiting to expire. I have to be brave and endure the pain 24 hours a day... I never give up hope and still working until today. So don't be laxed thinking that it is just a broken bone or something light. I advice go on a MRI It costs some 20,000 ++ baht first time. If you scanned and you have none , go celebrate but if you have one , don"t give up....text me...I tell you what I have bben thru and how i survived them.

    GOOD LUCK!

    A "scaremongering post".

Whilst I am sorry if you have a Suprasellar Meningioma such a condition would not usually produce acute shoulder pain but much more likely to induce symptoms such as-------------

    Altered mental status
    Facial numbness
    Headaches
    Loss of sense of smell
    Memory loss
    Seizures
Have you considered returning to your home country where treatment may be more easily obtained ?
  15. ? Extension of stay given up to date of expiry in my situation. Requested to take new passport when recieved. As so and extension of stay transferred and updated to full annual. Only requirement was 2 copies of new passport id.page. No fee.

Why do so many have problems?

A one year extension of stay is only given if the passport is valid for that length of time.

An extension of stay cannot extend beyond the validity date of a passport.

Exactly that! As said. But transfer from old to new was a no cost process. Even the original 90 day report sheet was simply stapled into the new passport. My suggestion that that be updated to save me an earlier trip ( I refuse to use the online 90 day system) was met with a smile and " not this time" comment.

Sure the transfer is no cost but the extension cost 1900 Bht.

  17. Is there an age limit for how old the children can be when applaying for a dependent extension if their father/mother works here ?

I believe it to be twenty, the Thai age of majority.

I could, however, be mistaken and if dependency can be shown (living together in the same accommodation) then an extension of stay would be available.
