  1. I know of only 1 and its been taken of the shelves in other countries. It did help a bit though. You can get it in some pharmacies it contains sibutramine. But google the stuff frist and check if its worth the risk.

That stuff was withdrawn from the US market in 2010.

That should be a good enough reason NOT to take "sibutramine" even if it can be found in Thai pharmacies.

  2. I was at Chaeng Wattana Friday afternoon, I noticed a number of male foreigners wearing shorts and tee shirts and sandals (not the cheap flip flops) and I also noticed a number of Asian women wearing short shorts. Appears that the dress code is not being strictly enforced. I wore a casual shirt, long trousers and shoes thinking the dress code was being enforced, in the past I wore the same with the exception of wearing sandals.

I cannot speak for the current situation but back in February Puket Immigration were enforcing the dress code.

  3. Usually there is only a document check of address for retirement extension (other than marriage extension).

So if you have a reasonable proof of address for either of the places you can do your choice.

Is it your first extension? (change of address needs explicit form to be filled)

Just curious: what are the two immigration offices to choose from?

"Usually": following reports in the forum there are extreme offices that do home visits even for retirement extensions.

Now this is interesting what you are saying here, as my friend has indeed had a home visit.

But it has not ended there.

Now in spite of him successfully extending his retirement visa with 800,000 Baht in his bank account for three months, they are now asking him for his pension details.

    That is odd

Which immigration office does your friend use and why are they asking for pension details after he has already received his extension?

How does immigration know about any pension your friend may receive? If his extension was made on the basis of 800,00 properly "seasoned" in a Thai bank there is no requirement to disclose any further financial information.

  4. Another example of a failure to understand the difference between "Visa" and an extension of stay.

The OP does not say if he is still working if so he is working illegally.

If not working the extension of stay became invalid on the day work ceased.

Too late now to "fix" anything but with any luck and providing there is no valid re-entry permit in the passport there will be no problem

  5. Guys,

If anyone can propose a phone number to reach immi website tech support, I can explain in detail what's wrong with their server config, which makes their website is so slow/buggy. It will take literally 1 minute to fix it.

BTW, even https verison works in all browsers (I just could fill in Chrome on Mac from 3rd attempt), but due to the misconfig, your browsers fire about 1000 requests per each page, which takes resources of your PC and their server (like self-imposed DDOS), hence laggines and disfunction.

Until they resolve it, quick tip: instead of typing your name, passport #, capcha etc into forms, just copy-paste into each field.

And start filling the form with selecting nationality, because if you type nationality in (instead of selecting), you'll end up with a blank page after submit.

Have you made a successful 90 report using your unique data input methodology ?

Speaking as one who has now made 3 successful reports I have found the immigration web site to be fast and problem free.

  6. Why are you getting annoyed! I'm not promoting misinformation. I'm giving opinion backed up with evidence. Take it or leave it I don't care, but I have as much right as anyone to post personal knowledge and information.

    ...

Because to suggest the vast majority of immigration offices that do not require money seasoning for combo method applications as a matter of their STANDARD POLICY based on the national rules are doing that in each case because they are doing a special favor for each individual applicant is not an "opinion" -- it is objectively FALSE. People come here for valid information.

    • I didn't suggest "the vast majority" of anything.
    • Why is my information less valid?
    • I copied and pasted the immigration website information direct from the site.
    • Are you suggesting that I am lying about speaking to immigration about the subject?

Ubonjoe alluded to the fact that, in his opinion, the combination method is there to cover people with a small shortfall in income, therefore, using a small amount of money in the bank. Although I believe the combination method is for anyone, his example is a good one as to why immigration would waive the seasoning.

e.g. An income of 62.5k pm month and 50k deposited the day before in their bank.

However, surely you can see the difference of someone walking in to an immigration office that had deposited 750k the day before the application and only had 4.2k pm in income. The reason given to me for seasoning was so that immigration can, as best they can, ensure the 800k belongs to the applicant. So the longer it's in the account the better with 3 months being the minimum. So why would immigration give the person using 750k in cash an automatic pass on seasoning?

It's really not important. And you're making a mountain out of a molehill. I disagreed with Ubonjoe's opinion, I spoke to immigration, and I've given my opinion. End of.

I assure you that my opinions are opinions whether objective or subjective.

I agree that the "combo" method of funding a retirement extension is potentially open to creative abuse.

As always those few who seek to avoid the regulations succeed in making life more difficult for the majority.

    • If you enter on Dec 28th your have a stay granted until Mar 26th. (90 days)
    • If you leave after 28 days you could get a re-entry permit (1,000 baht) to keep your 90 day stay alive. If you come back 28 days after that 56 days of your 90 would have elapsed, but you will still have 34 days left.
    • Towards the end of the 90 days you could, if you want to delay the new Non 'O' further, extend the 90 days by another 60 days (being married) taking your stay to the end of May when you would need to get a new visa.
    • You would need a re-entry permit every time you leave if you want to keep the stay alive.
Just an idea if you want to delay the new visa.

Re entry permits can be applied for at all immigration offices?

It should be applied for at you local immigration office,

You can also get them at both airports In Bangkok 24 hours a day.

What information do I need to take with me. My local office is Siriacha but the airport would be easier. When do I apply for the re entry? When is the best time or does it not matter?

If applying at the immigration office you will need the usual copies ot the passport, the passport, completed application form and a photo together with the fee -- 1000bht for a single re entry , 3800 for multiple.

At the airports in Bangkok application is made near/at the immigration passport control on departure.

I have no wish to argue the point but all my "financial proof" comes in the form of documents!

That is true but the amount needed is called in the police order for an extension which is what you are probably referring to.

You also need look where it says documents on the website because it covers several classes of non immigrant visas, Some could easily require additional documents..

    No

I was referring to what an Embassy/Consulate might ask for.

20,000Bht amounts to a little over 200 Bht/day if someone stays for 90 days.

It is not to much of an imaginative stretch to conclude that Embassy/Consular officials might decide that additional proof of access to financial resource in excess of 20,000 was available and indeed some do.

  8. Sorry just to clear this up...you are all in the UK?

If so leaving a young girl all night in the care of a 15 year old has to constitute an offence in itself I would have thought.

exactly, i have pulled my wife about this, she seems to think the boys can look after her but i go around there and all they do is sit in their rooms playing video games in darkness.

its a sad state of affairs but ive been warned by my sister and previous gf not to involve social services in uk as my child could be taken into care. ive now bought her a small phone to keep on her at all times so i can call her.

You may find Social Services become involved anyway! All it takes is a phone call from a concerned neighbor or school teacher.

A small phone will not ensure the child's safety.

If you wish the child to be safe arrangements other than those which currently exist will have to be made.

  9. I wonder if these will soon begin to affect people like myself getting a Non O multi entry visa without showing funds?? Will this be the next thing to change, I hope not.

I hope for your sake nothing "changes". However.................

Thai Embassies/ Consulates are entitled to ask and be satisfied you have sufficient financial derived from outside Thailand or tax receipts resulting from legal working inside Thailand.

They ask for the financial proof to get a tourist visa to prove you are not working here.

A person can legally work with a non-o visa if they get a work permit. So that requirement does not apply for a non-o.

According the MFA website only 20K baht would be needed. http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/4908/15398-Issuance-of-Visa.html

    I am also reminded that

" Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary"

    From the same link..................http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/4908/15398-Issuance-of-Visa.html

  10. Thanks to all who responded. It's worthwhile to note that there is a lot of spurious information circulating on the internet and at least ONE "e-book" is available which is mostly correct but contains several fatal errors. For example, the e-book says that once you get a multiple-entry visa, that you are REQUIRED to leave the country every 90 days. Most expats tell me this is incorrect. Just because it is in print in some form does NOT mean it's valid information. I notified the author of the e-book about the error and he acknowledged that it was incorrect and promised to send out corrected info to all who bought the book. That has not happened so far.

OP it's great to have experts like those above. You have all your answers. Just take special note from elviajero 're re entry permit. There have been occasions where people on extensions, like yourself , have left the country without reentry permit. That then means your back to square one. It's easy though you can get them at immigration or airport.

The majority of multiple-entry visas DO require leaving every 90 days because such visas only allow 90 day entries.

The exception would be an O/A visa which whilst multi-entry provides a one year entry/permission to stay during the visas period of validity.

  11. ok,i was approved;

went to the site and at the bottom

says application print but when i click that it says i am closing the page,

    I did print it direct.

is that all i have to do?

save the page with my passport?

at the bottom it asks when i click it do i want save>

i click and it opens my folders but i cant save it.

says file can not be downloaded,

You need to check the computer settings or have some who is computer literate check for you.

I live in Phuket, have made three on-line 90 day reports without a problem and can print/download the forms without difficulty.

  13. Hey Kitsune

Open the link and explain what the "page from a bank" means!

The members who were refused were from The Netherlands and UK

    Your words !

"A bank statement is basically an amount of money of a page from a bank... How difficult is this to understand in any language?"

    Your point being?

My "point" is that you have failed to explains the the simple " page from a bank" I posted

    You claimed ......................

""A bank statement is basically an amount of money of a page from a bank... How difficult is this to understand in any language?"

    What is the problem?

    End of debate!

  14. HBOT costs at least $100-$200 per session, so it is something that most people cannot afford.

That is at least 3500 Bht per session + Physician and other costs.

Hope your insurer will agree to meet the cost of this "emergency deafness" treatment smile.png
