  1. The senior member who says there is no such thing as a reversable vascectomy is incorrect,

They do this all the time now, my friend had it done years ago, after he divorced and remarried again, has had two sons since, and they are in college now, so we are going back at least a good 20 years!

    Oncearugge: no such thing? :-)

Please provide links to reputable , published evidence for the procedure known as "Reversible Vasectomy"

Vasectomies are permanent and whilst it is true that "reversal" can be attempted there is no guarantee of successful outcome.

    edit for spelling/clarity

  2. Too bad the police don't have a better way of stopping people who try to avoid them but I still say the blame lies with the scooter driver who was trying to outrun the police.

Here in the UK the police use stingers... a device deployed across a road designed to puncture tyres.

Last Monday two PC's deployed one to stop a stolen pick up being chased by patrol cars, unfortunately for one police officers, PC David Philips, the pick up drove straight at them, he did not have a chance... an 18 year old is now on remand charged with murder.

Here in the UK police do not chase or use stingers to stop motor bikes because they may case them to crash the bike... sad.png

However , UK Policemen do use bikes to catch criminals !

  3. At 59, I am living on my personal nest egg. Government pension doesn't kick in for another 3 years. When it does, I will stop using my money for tax reasons as long as I can.

I ran into a Kiwi a year or so ago. He claimed his gov't pension was 25,000 baht a month and was able to save a bit. I have allowed myself at least 2 times that amount and am getting by quite well.

I also don't recall seeing negative posts. Maybe I too am able to ignore the negative posts.

    Interesting information.

Can you share what type of visa/extension of stay allows you to stay in Thailand ?

  4. "life or death." So his doctors letter cannot get him an extension, because he is unfit to travel.

The question really should be is there a Hospital Doctors letter which outlines why travel cannot be undertaken, what treatment is ongoing and how long the incapacity is expected to last.?

I have known several people who have been given "medical extensions" with assistance from the hospital.

As I interpret this it's not the health of OP.

Seems OP is of the opinion that his presence in the country is important for someone else's health.

But that my view, could easily be wrong.

Extensions can be granted to relatives of the "sick" if their presence would aid recovery.

Once again a detailed Hospital Doctors letter would be needed to support any application.

  6. Podiatry is not easy to find here in Thailand. Most of us end up with a salon with a person that seems to specialise in feet. I have been using one since 2004 and she sorts me out. Infections? .....only had one and Teatree oil nuked that.

No one with diabetes, peripheral circulation problems or foot/toenail infections should entrust their feet to the local salon "nail cutter"

  7. WOW,,,Thanks for such quick responses.. This is really such a great website for all ex-pats.

I am glad that I don't need to somehow retrieve my "old" divorce papers...Since, it seems a unanimous vote that the the sworn and stamped "marriage affidavit will be enough to satisfy the thai authorities and that it really is not necessary to go back and register with the US Embassy, I am a lot more at ease about the whole process.....

    Thanks to you all,

    Barry

Suggest you reread that inf. from the US Embassy the link to which I provided !

The divorce papers may indeed be required.

  8. You didn't get a retirement visa.

You got an O visa with intention to apply retirement extensions in Thailand.

The only visa that can really be called a retirement visa are O-A visas obtained from your home country.

I got a non immigrant O (for Other) visa. The specific type of 'Other' is retirement. If my 'Other' had been marriage, or having a Thai kid, I would have had different paperwork requirements. Therefore the name Non-immigrant O-retirement visa is an accurate description.

Here is a picture of a single entry Non Immigrant "O" visa.

For what reason was it issued and for what reason was an "extension of stay" subsequently obtained.

    Please explain

It says right on the visa that it is a single entry visa. The one entry is used. The entry granted you a 90 day stay, later you could do an extension of that stay, the original stay granted by the visa.

    Ok

I understand that you do not know why it was issued and have no idea as to why an "extension of stay" was granted !

The extension of stay was NOT "granted" by the visa or the 90 day entry it allowed.

    End of discussion.

  10. In simple terms as already pointed out. Your visa is stamped used. You have an extension of stay in the kingdom. Welcome

The entry is used, I'm in country on permission to stay based on my visa. Talk about nitpicking...

    Wrong!

Your extension is based on a Reason other than that you once had a visa.

    "

Could be your "Extension of stay" is based on marriage, working, education, retirement ect. it is not based on a "visa"!
