LOL hopefully she will have grown out of that by now.

I spoke with dtac as i was initially worried about extra charges but they told me when in Thailand roaming turned on or off doesnt matter its the same. and in the 5 months i have not had any extra charges.

Thanks for this. I have no worries now, apart from getting the 4G to work. I'll go to the shop tomorrow about that. I tried changing the card slot and setting up the APN but they didn't work

  2. The data plan works now (after turning on data roaming), but I am worried it is going to rack up other charges too

My little girl is happy with the phone too, but she is 36 and hopefully will not drop it 555 lol

  3. Yeah, the HT7 is 3G and the HT7 Pro is 4G. i turned on the data roaming to see if I could get the data plan to work, and now I have 3G written next to the R written next to the 3G written next to the bars. Wow, this is confusing lol

  4. I now have a 3G next to the bars, but I still have the capital R ( not E) next to it.

Luckily my wife's SIM was the one that you can take the mini part out from the bigger part.

Phone no longer getting hot either.

Now I cannot figure out why I cannot get the data plan to start on the phone. Wieless is fine, but data simply does not kick in. I am worried that the frequency is not compatible, though I have been assured on another thread that I would have no problems

Take note that if your phone has 2 sim slots, probably only 1 of them will be 3G/4G compliant. You will also have to set up the APN of your phone, which can be done automatically by an SMS message your receive from your provider

Thanks. I will change the sim tomorrow. Can I get True to send the APN message by visiting the shop?

    Thanks again

  6. It turns out I get no 4G reception and I cannot acces my data plan. Phone is Ok, it is just that I can only use it for phonecalls. A bit of a waste of money really. A trip to True office is required to check if my plan (which says  something like "un-interrupted 3G/4G coverage" actually works with 4G. I checked on the coverage map, and Uttaradit (where I live) is supposed to be complete 4G coverage

  7. I have just received  one of these phones, but I am confused by the telephpne signal I am getting next to the bars it sayshas a capital E and a small capital E above that. I have put a sim in it that used to get 3G. Does anybody know what this means? The preffered net work is set at 4G though it asks if I want to connect to 3G+ not 4G. The phpone is also getting hot. The phone looks good but I need to sort out these things.

    Cheers

    for any help

By the way. my usual SIM cards are the big type and do not fit in the phone. What can I do about that?

I registered a TrueID to view my bills online when I had a problem with my mail a couple of years ago.

It seems I've been earning points all the time without realising it.

I don't know if you have to register to start earning points or not.  If you're a current Trus Internet subscriber you may be earning them too.

It might be worthwhile checking it out,

    http://www.trueid.net

Thanks. I have had a look and I have also been building up points. Not many though lol

Yes, bought off the shelf from Tesco Lotus for approx. 1500฿.

I have an exisiting dish on the house that was left by a previous occupant so it was then just a case of hooking it up to the cable from the dish, connecting to the TV and all was (mostly) good to go.

A local independant satellite TV shop should be able to do it all for you, too.

Also, it's not a football "only" box as such, rather you can then subscribe the the basic football package or indeed any other package.  It's also possible to pay monthly in advance this way. I think you can do it in advance but I did it online.  There is an android app (or IOs) but it seems to be Thai only but I figured it out.

I've got a month's free Platinum by using the "points" I've built up from True Internet.

    :D

How do you build up points from the internet

  10. Really annoyed. i can't click on "content " to tell me if there are new threads on here. I now have to go into manage following  somethging or other. I refuse to have daily emails sent. This is rubbish. What will I do when the football season starts???? See..... it was football related lol

  11. I agree with posts that say you should go back to basics; no matter what age they are.

It looks like you are dedicated to your task, and I admire that. However, i think that using transliteration and translating everything in your classroom could be a mistake. It is good for the students to try to discern meaning sometimes, and they could become lazy about their learning. My Thai is not the best, but sometimes I use it to explain things, and I sometimes have students tell me the Thai for a word or phrase I am using as i am making them use their knowledge, but I try to limit this.

Times change and the use of L1 in the classroom is much more accepted now, and i sometimes wish i could explain my activities better (and faster) to students.

I hope this technique works for you, and I wish you good luck.

Just been down to my local True Visions office to sign up, B299 for the Happy Family HD package + B299 for the PL = B598/month which I'm happy with. For another B99/month I can get the PVR service to record the late games. B1,000 deposit, equipment & installation free, coming round on Monday to install.

Sounds too good to be true (pun intended) so I'll update if anything changes.

Will comentory be in English. Though they talk a load of rubbish, I like to listen to it. Will PL be in HD?

  13. I disagree about needing to have the full command of English grammar, syntax, lexus etc. to be able to teach people how to speak English. I would argue that being able to speak English does not have the same demands as being able to pass a written test to keep academia happy. We don't necessarily need to be able to speak "The Queen's English" to be understood; all you need to do is pass on ideas and information in a comprehensible way. There are many different types of English spoken around the world (and even in England), and yet, believe it or not, people can still talk. There is a certain snobbery among native speakers (I am one), and I believe that the ability to teach is more important than being a native speaker. However, I also believe that if you have no ability to be able to encourage the use of the language (perfect or not), you should give up your job.

On a side note; Even though I do not like the way that song is a consistent theme with Filipino (I apologise for the spelling) teachers, I have definitely met some who are excellent teachers, work hard, and care about their jobs . I have also met those who are here to party and enjoy life. The same is true for Brits, Yanks, Aussies, Germans, Belgians etc. There is no country where all the people are perfect... apart from Wales lol

  14. Smaller classes, room to move and do activities, support from the system, good teachers training the bad, investment in appropriate materials, encouraging kids to learn for themselves, and getting rid of the older ciques that seem to have so mucxh power. That's a start I think.

Oh, they should also make all current teachers be up to a relevant standard, and all English teacher students should have to be married to a native speaker lol

  15. Looks like I may have to hold off on this as it is for my misses and she uses a True package.

Seems the phone doesn't work on 850 MHz which True uses for 3G. Her pakage is for True move H does anybody know if True move H will work with a phone with the following frequencies

    2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz

    3G: WCDMA 900/1900/2100MHz

    4G: FDD-LTE: 800/1800/2100/2600MHz

A phone that works on the above frequencies is going to be fine for Thailand for 4G/LTE, since the main two LTE frequencies here are 2100 and 1800.

As for 3G, yes, it's missing the 850 band used by True and DTAC, but all the carriers also are using 2100 Mhz. You'd need to check with True as to how they've divvied up their frequency allocations these days, and how/if missing 850 3G would limit their service.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, AFAIK, it's a 3G only phone, no 4G/LTE.

Thanks. I thought 4G would be no problem, but as I live in Uttaradit I was worried about coverage. According to True, Uttaradit is all 4G, so it should be fine. When i bought my original samsung ace 2 (GT-i18160) it would not work with true internet. I later had to buy one (samsung ace 2) off a complete stranger after a bump (nightmare) that one (GT-i18160L) was Ok for 3G internet,

Apparently it made an L of a difference. Sorry.... I couldn't help that

    Cheers

  16. OOps it is showing 3G now. She is using an old samsung ace 2 which I don't believe is ready for 4G, so would she be able to use 4G with her package? It is an ismart pakage that says it is non stop 4G/3G

Arghh this is becoming a nightmare. I want to order this today now to get it for her birthday

  18. I got a Doogee as well best bit of kit ive ever had. 3100 baht looks gorgeous feels gorgeous plenty of storage for apps and best camera ive ever seen on smartphone

I agree with everything but the camera part...decent but not in a league with Xiaomi and Asus

The new Doogee X-5 and the Homtom Ht-7 (Made by Doogee) are less than $60 including shipping on Gearbest.com (and a few others)

    Similar specs...1gb/8gb, Android 5.1, 5.5" 720p display, 3000mAh battery...

I have bought several Doogee's as gifts over the last 2 years and never a problem One of the best basic phones available.

Hi. I am thinking about getting the Homtom HT7 pro from Gearbest, but I am not sure about the service or quality from Gearbest. Have you (or anybody else) had experience of them? I know this is still a cheap phone, but, if it goes wrong, I will still want it sorted out.

    Cheers

I got my UMI Super from gearbest, took 13 days to arrive with free shipping (no import tax).

No idea about the Homtom, cheap for sure and it looks nice, 2gb ram and 16gb room, not too bad.

Yes those Chinese phones are all over the place now, Samsung must be worried.

I am so far very happy with my umi and I am getting better hits now with the finger print scanner as well.

The problem is if they brake down, send them back or throw out?, hmm.

Well if I can get 2 years out of my phone, I am happy, time to get a new one at that time.

My old IQ II now serves as gaming device for my son and after I removed all apps, it's okay for that.

Thanks for that. If I can get 2 years I will be well happy. i am ore worried about it collapsing within a year I suppose. Still, could be worth the gamble as I can't find one in Thailand.

    Thanks again
