I am trying to source some suitable books to teach humanities to grade 6 students (following a UK curriculum), but I have not found any that are suitable.
If there are any teachers that are teaching this at the moment, could you let me know what you are using and what you thnk of the material you are using?
I am not sure if I would be better looking for seperate history and geography books, or whether they can be bought as a combined subject.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

I think Let's Go is boring. I also think that if you are teaching pronunciation you can use anything; personally i would go with some action comics as they would be more appealing to the age group, but will still have the relevant souinds you need.
If you do not have the Let's Go material yet, PM me and I will get them to you

Does anybody know the situation for a South African applying for a Non b?
Do they need police checks? A friend from S>A. needs to apply for a Non B, but her police check was done 4 months ago and she is worrying that it will not be valid

Uhmmm, Okay. I kind of agree. They like to sell stuff but have no real backup and there is very little support. i wanted to use cambridge science books, but the e-help seemed a good option. I suppose we live and learn

Thanks.
I have seen this before, and it definitely is a resource I will use, but the book mentions (in several places) an actual site related to Explore Science books. It has Science Explorer but they are by a different writer.
Thanks again

My school has decided to use Heinemann Explore Science books printed by Pearson. In the books they talk about a website that compliments the book, but I cannot find it. I like the idea of a website that will add itself to my resources, so I am wondering if anybody uses these books or knows about the website. I have contacted our supplier here and Pearson in the UK, but I am getting nowhere. If anybody could help, I would be most grateful.
Cheers

Yes bought in Thailand with support. I have had it for 8 years and the supplier came out on a few occasions that I needed them too. The software Active Inspire comes with it and then you get a username and password for the website to download the resources.
the software you can put on normal computers and use with projectors. Very good.
Great. Thanks a lot for that. Do you have the whiteboard or the LCD panel? A bit worried about the panel becoming damaged with kids proding it. i have had a look for a supplier but had no luck (Looks like China). It's a longshot, but do you know the supplier? I was also wondering about using a document camera, and about saving whiteboard screens

We are a little worried that there is no support mechanism for Promethian as we do not think there is an actual supplier in Thailand. Does it come with education software, or is that bought as a package

My school is going to install interactive whiteboards, and I was wondering if readers here have any opinions or preferences for hardware and software. We are trialling an epson interactive projector at the moment, but we are looking for alternatives. We are having a bit of trouble finding suppliers who will give product support, but that is not my main concern. I am concerned that we do not have time to trial every option, and that is why I would appriciate some views from the people who actually use the boards.
Thanks in advance

Seems I will have plenty of choice for a game then. All I need to do now is find the courts and arrange some spare time lol

I think the problem is that we see dogs as pets, whereas most Thais do not. buying a dog that wanders around near your house and barks at every passerby ( and chases said incumbent) is not a pet. If they were wolves, coyotes, or hyenas, nobody would be happy, and talk of happy, tail wagging, pets .
On the other hand, there are dogs that chase cars, bikes and people every day infront of their owners and the owners do nothing. Should we punish the dogs or the owners?
I have seen (many times) a pack surround somebody and harrass them. This is dangerous, and those dogs should be dealt with before the pack mentality hurts somebody else. Personally, I am too lazy to cycle for that many kilometers, but I do enjoy a strided walk for 5 or 6km, and finding a nice route is more and more difficult to find. I am new to Hua Hin, so have no real experience of here, but I talk with knowledge of 4 other places

Do I indicate a tad of sarcasm in your post there TeanDreams ...
Joking aside, I'm aware it might be a bit of a stretch on that budget getting a 4 bed but I do believe a 3 bed will be possible (as there's an abundance of 2 beds out there in the in the high teens to low 20s). I have 3 weeks of "scouting" time and as I have learned over my 7 years in the mainly touristier parts of Thailand; people love hard cash up front. I've negotiated listings from 40k/month down to 22k/month. Even easier when approaching the propertys which still are avaliable as the high season gets closer as (some of) the owners get a bit nervous that it's still empty and are willing to get at least "some" cash flow.
I will of course in the end post my findings here, hoping that it will help others but also, if I'm waaay of course, man up and inform on what I in the end had to pay.

I know what you mean. I have moved from Uttaradit and had a 5 bed house with 2 verandas, garden, and carport. 4,000 baht. I am in a house here for a month while I look foir a 2 bed place that is not surrounded by soi dogs and dogs of other descriptions

Looks like it will be easier (and cheaper) to do the opposite of what i wanted. i will take the bike with me on the truck, and send boxes of belongings by bus. I can't believe that actually works out to be the best option. 10 baht a kilo for sending stuff on the bus Gus.

You realize that you would have to travel with your bike ? Unless you were thinking about buying the ticket and not using it.
So at Hualomphong you would collect your bike from the train, ride it to the goods out office, deposit it there and then they would load the bike on the train for you. I have never sent a bike but I have witnessed the procedure at Hua Lomphong when sending other stuff.
From my understanding, you don't physically load and unload yourself, but it would be an idea to keep an eye out.
The post costs more than ??
2x tickets to travel
2x extra for bike to be carried
including all the inconvenience and time spent on a train .. ?? It's a no brainer.
I have sent this bike by train before, and never traveled with it., and, as i have said, the cost to send the bike to BKK is 700 baht. To send it to Hua Hin would be slightly less. So a total of around 1300. The train staff will load and unload the bike.
My problem is the transfer to the other train as this is not something I can do myself as I will be in Hua Hin.
I can get it onto the train in Uttaradit, but I have nobody in BKK to move it to the next train.

The cost of the post office service is much higher though. I will get my misses to check just in case. Thanks
-
I have to send my honda Sonic from Uttaradit to hua Hin, and I seem to have hit a snag. Sending the bike to BKK is no problem (700 baht), but I have been told that I need to be in BKK to get the bike from one train to the next.
Has anybody heard of this before? I am wondering if anybody has been able to get around this as I can't physically do this.
They are saying that they cannot unload the bike in BKK and then put it onto the hua hin train.
Any info would be appreciated

I have a nissan Navara double cab, and I want to fit side rails in the back to carry extra load (removable would be a preferance). Has any body had this done, is it posible?
If so, does anybody have an idea of the cost? I may have to travel to get this done, so I would like an idea before I pay extra
Cheers

Thanks for the reply. The school have said they only do extra lessons if they actually organise them. No problem; it was only an idea. Not sure how it is breaking the law though.
Thanks again
