  1. I realise this is a favourite subject on here, but I have a new twist. I have been working in Thailand for 7 years on a non O spouse visa (with work permit. i have recently started working in Hu Hin and I have a work permit through my non O, but I have now been applying for an extension of stay of my non o visa. I have been told that I have to have a non B visa as I am working. I have pointed out that I have had the visa and work permit at several schools and provinces before, but they insist that after the 1st year I should have changed to a non B. Has anybody else had this trouble? I would also be grateful for a link that can show anything about this. The Thai labour website is in Thai only, so I am lost with that

I was about to praise Liverpools performance until I read your take on the game, you come across as just another sad scouse git

Personally, i was happy with the point (and would have been yesterday too). Why you have changed a decision about a game because of an opinion by a supporter about  a ref's decision is beyond me though. This happens every game and has nothing to do with my opinion or yours. There were several bad decisions, including Rooney not getting sanctioned for his challenge while Lovren got a yellow, and  the guy tugging Firminhio back was not punished on his own. However, I thought the game flowed OK and I know that some decisions went our way too, but i still don't understand how somebody's opinion of a ref changes your view of a game... very strange

  3. As stated, the website is a work in progress, and is currently in the hands of proffesional website deigners. Most of the pages are currently placeholders for the designers to use. This is a basic template to show them what is needed on the website. Pictures, content, ect. will change, and this is not the finished article. Everything will obviously be proof read and all i's dotted, and as for the email etc, they will change to ac.th.

Please remember, this is a new school and things are under development. Taking the legal path to starting a school requires patience as (legally) steps can only be taken in the currect order.

    Oops... correct

  4. It appears I am writing posts and pressing enter instead of the submit button. as with this one I just found "As I said, I personally know 3 people who have a full teacher's licence because of the course. My wife did their applications."

I wrote a caveat to my post about the Teacher's License, stating that it was, in fact, a diploma. It is the same place as Aidenai is talking about.

It looks like a few of my replies have not made it to the forum. I stated  the type of qualification, cost , realtion to filli education system etc. I need to concentrate a bit more on pushing the right buttons. Perhaps it is because I have started to use my smartphone more than my computer.

Sorry for the confusion. The people I know recieved their licenses because they took the diploma with St. Roberts as part of IFUGAO

Having a Teacher's License (a piece of paper) will not get you anything.   The Philippines has an official listing and website for all the people who have passed a wide range of exams set by the gov't.

In order to get a license here, we have to provide the degree, the transcript, the License and the verification from the website.    Those who have passed the education license are eligible for a Teacher's License in Thailand.   Those that have taken that exam (or any other gov't exam listed), are eligible for the waiver.

    No system is fail proof.

  7. The school is now up and running. The website is still under development, but far improved. The fees have also been adjusted (there are also scholarships for the first students, which are locked in), and the first phase has been completed; so it has all the necessary buildings for kindergarten and primary classes. It will start with those, and once the second phase is completed for next year (2017) it will accept secondary students too.

It has an open day tomorrow starting at 12:30

  8. It is on the Krusapah's website though, and still valid. I also know people who did the course last year, and not at the places on the website ( I actually posed a question on here about its validity as I thought it was a scam. It is confusing though as it seems some info on the site is up to date, while other information is out of date.

my wife used to work in our office, and organised teacher's licences, waiver letters etc

  9. Personally, I am glad the trolls have lost that forum. I actually had a guy I upset, because he was trolling somebody else, post Youtube videos of my house etc that he had edited on the site. I complained, but they said it was public property. I explained that he had edited and manipulated it, but they seemed to think that was fine. My only problem now is that the same gang of trolls (is there a name for that) will end up here.

  10. Is there anywhere near Hua Hin that i can get my son a PADI copurse? He has done a couple of discover diving courses (he is 11), and wants to get his PADI (junior).

I wouold also appreciate opinions on getting the junior PADI

  11. Here is a picture of my meter. I was surprised there are 2 taps on it. if I turn the one nearest the house off, my tank still fills with water, so I am pretty sure that is messed up. There is a little circle (showing water flow I assume) that was trickling around when I turned the tap off before the main tank, but I am not sure if that was a problem or Ihadn't turned the tap enough I will check that this evening.

Wayned to answer some of your questions.

    1. yes the pump runs all of the time and the tank is filling

    2. This is true except that the valve at the meter doesn't stop the flow, only the tap before the tank.

    3. Yes the pump works fine when the water to the tank is turned off and the tank is not refilling.

I need to check number 38 to see what the answer is

If you have a mobile phone, you can set up SKYPE and a Skype account and call her landline very inexpensively.

If she has even a basic smartphone, a shop could set up Skype on her phone with only your contact in the directory.  All she would have to do is click your name and push the button.  If your phone is active, you should get the call, free.

Thankls for this. I already use skype to call my mother, but she is completely non smartphone friendly. I already gave her one to use so we could use skype, but she never charged it and in fact threw it away in the end. Unfortunately, I have to figure out a way for her to use her landline to call me.

    Thanks again

A pain-in-the-ass solution (hopefully short term) would be to:

    1.  Turn off the valve at the meter.  Turn off the valve to your tank in.  The pump should run normally.

    2.  To refill your tank, unplug the pump.  Turn on the valves to your tank in and at the meter.  Your tank should fill until the float engages.

If your mains pressure is sufficient to give you a proper shower, etc. you may as well just leave it that way (#2).  Only use #1 when mains pressure is low.

Hope you can sort this out!

This is the solution I am using at the moment, but I have turned off the tap before the tank not the one at the meter. By the way there are 2 taps on the meter; one on the way in to it and one on the way out

Above should say:  Somehow/somewhere the output pipe from the pump not "out pipe from the tank" in picture #3.

The tap I turned off was the one on the right of picture 7 which seems to run in line with the mains supply, so I have no idea what it's actual purpose is. Would the pipe going back into the mains supply have to be before this tap as it does in Crossy's diagram? If it does should I actually trace back from it to the mains supply rather than going from the stop tap towards the pipe? When the pump is off we get some water at reduced pressure, but that eventually stops. to find the non return valve I will need to see what they look like first. I am still confused why there is a tap before the tank but so randomly placed.

  15. Not sure if this is the correct forum, but it seems logical. I have been recieving calls from the uk from my family by them using an access number and going through an exchange. This has been fine, but doesn't seem to work any more. I have been looking into it and it seems the costs have skyrocketed. My mother cannot do anything with the net so is stuck to the telephone systems. Does anybody use the (old fashioned) telephone system? I am looking for something that is less expensive than the 9p a minute access charge  and the provider's 2p on top. that is quite reasonable, but i talk for hours to my mother and don't want her to have the charges when she calls me. Thanks for any help you may give. BTW I have also looked at these who look great but my mother would not want to "go through all that nonsense" of a direct debit lol. Great for others though

There's gotta be a valve or non-return valve (google it) that is going back to the mains.  As somebody else suggested, you could turn off the valve at the meter and should have the same condition with your tank valve open/off.  That would confirm circular.  Then you just have to find where it is.

So... If I turn off the valve at the meter and turn the pump on and it works propery (tank will be isolated), turning on when I turn a faucet is on and shutting off when the faucet is turned back off, does that mean it is a circulating problem? I think by turning off the tap in picture 7 I am isolating the tank then too, and that is what the situation is now. The tank is not filling up, I am using the water that is in it with th epump working as it should. i will look again for another valve, but I am not sure where to look (apart from everywhere lol)

When your "mains supply is on" is that when the valve to the tank is open?  The pump running just means that it is circulating water.  It is not "filling the tank".  And your float is probably just fine.  There must be another valve, after the out from the pump that is connected in some way to the "main".  Try to find that.  Again, if you can map the pipes and valves as best you can, that will help to answer your problem.

Yes, It is when the valve to the tank is open. So does that mean that I am using no extra water, just constantly circulating the same water? I cannot see another tap that could be going back to the mains supply as it looks like the pipes are running underground. They seem to pop up in weird places and sometimes for no apparent reason. I will take another look tomorrow. At the moment I have turned off the mains supply to the tank, and I am leaving the pump on (it only clicks in when i use my taps). I will simply refill the tank tomorow.
