  1. I don't think that's normal. I've never done that, so maybe I don't "get it" Self defence, okay, but violent retaliation (revenge), nah. You can spin it that way if you like. What's my position?
  2. She mouthed-off at him for moving her shopping cart which she had left in the middle of the aisle.
  3. So, by your logic, if it was okay for her to throw the bottle at him, then it was okay for him to go back and hit her again? Is that really what you are saying?
  4. I'd move her cart and probably mutter profanities to myself while shaking my head. I mean, we see this kind of ignorance daily from them. You can't fight them all.
  5. Respect is in short supply in Thailand. They are very passively disrespectful in general. Well, I've never beaten up anyone, but we don't have to make this about male and female. Women are not special creatures. And the guy himself is old too. I am sure a lynch party is on it's way.
  6. Well, that's a little old fashioned. Would it be OK for him to hit a man under the same circumstances?
  7. - She left her trolley blocking the aisle. - He moved it. - She confronted him and accused him of being impolite. So far, it's only her who is wrong (×2) - Then, he attacks her and walks away. He is obviously wrong here to escalate it and to such a violent degree. - She throws a bottle at him in retaliation and then he goes back again and retaliates. Both wrong at this point. They were basically having a fight together and I have no judgement. If they wanna fight, let them. But he shouldn't have started the violence to begin with, even though she started the confrontation. Two wrongs don't make a right. Ultimately, he is more wrong for escalating it to that level.
  8. I did. I said he was wrong to hit her the first time. He is wrong, but she acted poorly too. Gotta be fair when evaluating these things
  9. Two wrongs don't make a right. I learned that in elementary school.
  10. Nope, I didn't say that. Very few things justify violence. She had no right to tell him to be polite when she impolitely left her cart blocking other people's way
  11. Irrelevant. Should he apologise to the cart? She should have apologised for blocking his way, or at least said nothing at all. He did nothing wrong at that point. Shouldn't matter if he moved her cart in an angry way. It's just metal (which she left in the middle of the aisle)
  12. Ultimately, he was more wrong than her for escalating it to violence. But, she shouldn't have left her cart blocking the aisle and she shouldn't have verbally confronted him for moving it......I mean he had to move her cart to get by, right? She, herself, was being impolite and confrontational. Then, she had the courage to throw a bottle at him as he was walking away. Well, then I must say, she was asking for a fight. She can only claim to be half the victim here, I think.
  13. Well, come on, an old Thai woman does a hit n' run on a falang, killing him.......you really think she is being prosecuted?
  14. I don't think that's what they are saying, but rather certain cases get a lot more media attention and public outrage, usually due to the race of the perpetrator and race of victim. I don't think anyone suggested that either, but it would be nice if the legal system was fair to everyone without bias
  15. You think I've never had a punch on the nose before? Virtually every guy has. It isn't newsworthy.
  16. Yeah, it's bad what happened to her, but it isn't exactly newsworthy.
  17. This genuinely made me laugh out loud. And we all know it's true. No F..s given.
  18. But they are quite happy for foreigners to come across them, a redeeming quality.
  19. Yeah, and not really any uproar with Thai on Thai violence either..... ....but when a foreigner does something to a Thai it leads to mass unrest. Rightly so, at least they take care of their country, unlike in the West.
  20. 💯 Definitely, the ones that choose to work in the tourist industry and the ones seeking out farang, but it probably extends far beyond that
