  1. Climate Change is an on going phenomenon that happens everywhere, the Sun, the other planets and space too. Everything is in a state of movement and change. It would be wrong to think that Earth was any different. However, it would also wrong to infer that I am saying that our present conditions are completely 'natural'. On the contrary. All animals affect the environment one way or another but human activity is by far the largest affect done wilfully. The question is just how much of these effects are detrimental? Whether I want a petrol or electric car, cell phone,PC etc. etc. all the materials have to mined, processed and purified before they ever reach the factory. Take for example Lithium (much heard about in modern times), a much sought after chemical element. Yes it is abundant but because it is very reactive it is only found in minerals or other compounds. After processing, In its elemental form it must be stored in special areas. How much of the mining, processing, waste and storage is detrimental to the environment? It isn't zero and this is only one item that our present technology requires. Human beings have polluted the air since they were in caves where they burned materials to keep warm and we continue to pollute. How much this pollution drives 'unfavourable or extreme' Climate Change is debatable because there isn't an agreed standard 'control model' we can compare with.
  2. As I mentioned, my hair was thick and curly and that was probably part of the reason. I didn't suffer with a white freckled skin that many ginger haired people have (but have other similar skin traits such as easy to skin burn etc.)
  3. My apologies, I did misinterpret your post. No, not ginger hair. Ginger is most definitely reddish while Auburn is darker and more toward Brown.
  4. I don't actually know but I would have thought 'genuine ladyboys' would find a more lucrative activity to earn a living. In my book, doesn't make any difference who and what they are/do, if they molest children they are Paedophiles. Hope this chap is punished to the full extent of the law.
  5. Well that's okay then. Not what you implied in your comment though '...endearment...' but in your case I don't think it's a racist remark anyway since you wrote that it was what your wife called you. How nice? Yes, 'sticks and stones', 'water off a duck's back' etc. are appropriate. I too learned early because I had thick curly auburn hair when I was young...don't think they were called 'racist' remarks way back then, though.????
  6. Ha, really? You looked up ฝรั่งขี้นก then?
  7. Suspension from duty doesn't mean much in itself although I suspect it has a stronger connotation in western countries than it has in Thailand. Just a personal view as I have no data to back it up.
  8. I beg to differ...well partially anyway. I often see drivers 'back' successfully into a tight spot at Lotus. However, they appear to do this because the spot is closer to the shop entrance than the large amount of empty spaces elsewhere but further away. Strangely enough, I've seen them park in the largely vacant area either diagonally (taking up two spaces) or straight but again well over the white lines...strange people, ha!
  9. I have a large nose and it's a good one too. I get a whiff of odours before others around me.???? But my Dad had even bigger nose, one of those people called a 'Roman nose'...whoops...have I just written racist words?
  10. Okay then, close the bars etc. at 7 pm and keep the temples open for visitors until 4 am and see what happens.????
  11. While this is true trial extracts suggest that dosage is a problem. Even people of same weight & build react differently. It seems that the environment can have an effect also. Given enough time I'm sure it will get sorted.
  12. This is not really a new topic. Although I don't know the details, universities and psychiatry institutions have been doing studies since the beginning of this century and feasibility studies were in the Lancet a bit later. Perhaps the experts in Thailand have been doing some reading lately eh?????
  13. Sad. How many more people have to die before the law punishes the owner. Anyone know if the owner is police custody or other?
  14. What are you talking about? There are many things that are happening in the world that make one sigh with sadness and you are suggesting/implying that if the sadness is genuine one should should do this or that. Totally unrealistic and not practical at all. Many people don't have the means to do what you suggest and an expression of sympathy should be denied also...according to you.
  15. I think you will find that sympathy and heartfelt feelings for those that died and were injured was given in the original story. This article is about a specific case of non-Thai importance.
  16. IMO it doesn't matter what side of the fence you are on, classified or declassified government documents should not be at anyone's private residence. They should be left at the office where they belong.
  17. Or....maybe they just like the 'making up' afterwards????. I glimpsed a final picture on TV and it looked liked the police were there (maybe they were the rescue team). I'm not sure where they draw the line between a marital dispute and assault but walloping her husband 30 times...wow crime of passion eh?
  18. 'The charm of living here is that we decide which laws we want to break....' Al Capone would have loved having you on his team. We all have our own reasons for living here but at least we know what your reason is.????
  19. I am surprised the poor woman didn't die from the excruciating pain she must have suffered...and possibly does suffer at intervals between pain relieving drugs. If the owner of the pub was really held totally accountable for the fire, the deaths and injuries then he might start giving names of others who knew (assuming there were others). But, no I guess that won't happen. Building inspectors...yeah, I've had personal experience with a couple and it didn't go well. There is no compensation high enough for the victims of this fire, I just hope such does not happen again.
  20. I have tried hunting the colour code from a UK gov. source but I can only find indirect quotes. The confusion seems to be two-fold; One is that is was a return to the old BPP and the second is that the officially selected colour is Pantone 5395C. Here is that colour and here is the UK's HS holding a sample which against her hair colour and clothing is definitely a very dark blue. However, the older PP is darker than both of the above and the the colour that the gov. wanted. and the new PP seems to be darker than the old one. According to what I've read even some college colour experts say that it should be classified as a % black though not 100% because it contains some green and red, but the official opinion is very, very dark blue. Apparently, the PP cover is printed in another country.????
  21. And in Thailand, you could end up in being charged with assault for a violent retaliation. Yeah, sounds like a good strategy for teaching the teachers and children...
  22. Yup, my new pp is black too. (Ha, actually, way back in the 1930's one uncle of mine (apparently) won many a 'best dressed man' competition and he considered both black and white to be colours.????
  23. I have just come across a list that apparently backs China. There is no point in providing a link as it will probably not be on the forum's list of acceptable news outlets. The list is on 'Gravitas: world reacts to Chinese military drills near Taiwan' episode (also includes some details about EU stance). Thailand is on the list. Yesterday, the Thaiger gives both the Chinese (embassy) and Thai quotes.. One can only hope that the situation deescalates.
  24. Read this from the Gov. UK site; (headline) The UK and G7 partners have issued a statement on preserving peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait I didn't think that the PLA would shoot the US Speaker Pelosi's plane down because they would have faced some pretty heavy stuff from US military already in the region. Also any action by the Chinese will only make Taiwan support more entrenched. We have all be given to understand that Pres. Xi intends to 'unify' during his office so I didn't really think that a visit by any western diplomat would make a lot of difference. I did wonder where Thailand would stand (as well as other countries having close ties with China) and what would happen to the western residents should the worst happen.
  25. Nope, never wanted to be rich and powerful...learned early in life, it's just a whole lot more trouble
