  1. Yeah, US embassy employs geese - they have a large pond on the grounds but even before moving across the street toi this new bldg, they had the geese which raise a loud racket upon meeting any snakes on the grounds - Soi Wittayu so right in the middle of town. I live in Sankamphaeng CM in a village surrounded by other mooban, rice fields, canals too and I used to walk every AM 3-4 oclock - one morning ran into a 4 meter Burmese Python - had to help the guard catch it before it did any damage to pets or folks. When it opened it mouth to bite us, it seemed it could swallow my head completely! I also ran into small cobras and other UNID types to me. I learned a long time ago to avoid snakes even when I thought that they might be harmless. I shudder to think about all the times I ran around in the jungles of this and nearby countries with all the really dangerous snakes and animals without even thinking about them seriously. Ignorance of youth! Sure wouldn't do it anymore.
  2. CM IO have always required this yearly statement but for me I understand since the Embassy stopped providing a lettrer of pension and at that time I went to the monthly 65K minimum for my yearly report, then needed the bank statement where I have my account for each monthly payment plus then a letter of the account for 12 months from the main office in BKK plus my day of extension status of account. Easy enough to do and still easier than it used to be. Good luck to all.
  3. Yeah I read that there were some new categories - butg I didn't realize that the belly flop was one of them. Or was he going to be in the break dance?
  4. I think the picture says more truth than Trump and his doctor about his actual healthy body
  5. This can't be valid, we all know Trump doesn't weight more than 215 lbs while here in this fake picture one leg weighs at least that much by itself.
  6. Philippines doesn't tax pensions, other SEA countries have various rules and regulations concerning expats just takes a little search and reading to find out if any fit into one's lowest or no tax to be paid. By ignoring the laws about taxation and seeking ways to avoid ever paying taxes to any country is why these international agreement come to fruition. Eventually, all will probably be shut down by changes in tax residency or visa extensions, etc. My opinion as it seems this is the start here in Thailand anyway and am sure it is going on in other countries too.
  7. But they can't refuse visa extensions to the local Thais. Most Thais that are not paying taxes probably don't make enough to survive hardly let alone pay taxes too. However, tax residents that pay no taxes to any country are one of the stated reasons that the OECD agreement of 2023 was signed by 138 countries around the world including some of the Autocratic ruled countries. Eventually, I do think that the world revenue departments will become aware of all those that do not pay any tax to any country and will seek ways to eventually get them. As Benjamin Franklin siad over 200 years ago - the only certainty in one's life is death and taxes or words to that effect.
  8. Even the LTR is not tax exempt on in Thailand income earned - the exemption is for foreign-earned income remitted into Thailand. Just saying but, I would think that the LTR would be cheaper though one would not get all those "free" bennies that the elite would get. For me the LTR is the best. Good luck to others.
  9. If you take the words of praise from their likes of Trump then you are posting on the right media for sure!
  10. Recently I heard the watch king wants his turn as the big boss too.
  11. NOt easy to understand the search? I am ignorant of computers...yet this was too easy just go to the Thai revenue dept and you will get a multitude of hits...pick one that gives you the charts in both Thai and English - spells out all their laws and even can see the royal decrees exempting LTR folks from tax on remitted foreign funds. Good luck.
  12. But these guys are on their way to freedom right?
  13. What I think is ridiculous in the BP checks whenever I go to the doctor's office, dentist's office or whatever, Harvard Heart specialist recommend 5 minutes of inactivity, meaning no changing rooms, seats, talking with nurses, doctors, etc, before actually doing the check. Almost every time I go, they keep moving me just before doing the check then sayiing oh it is a tad high we better wait, should have waited before. Then finally I notice now, they have a portable bp maching on wheels, they come around to the waiting area and one doesn't have to get up, they hook you up and tnen come back in 5-10 minutes and wow, they always say now looking good. I have for over 30 years monitored my own BP and have never had a problem, using different monitors. I even have a couple of coffees prior to many of those checks and the level remain well in the good category. I do hope all realize how diet and exercise do affect BP and also those nasty genes from your ancestors too. Good luck to all and good health too.
  14. When I was in Pakistan, when departing from Karachi, as soon as the airplane was airborne, most of the females immediately went to the bathrooms to change into western garb. The males meanwhile almost all ordered booze of some type. Out of their country they feel that they do not have to obey the regligious rules.
  15. first time you will need to do the tm.30 in person I believe. Where are you staying at first, BKK? a hotel or what?
  16. said they are both farangs earlier
  17. Actually they used to have the TM28 which was like the TM30 but required of the expat versus the home/business owner. Then they dropped the TM.28 and shortly thereafter they came after the expats as they weren't getting that many "volunteers" to do it officially. But, once they did this ,making the expats do it but mostly for those living in long-term rented/spouse owned establishments versus tourist residences/hotels. Once I was informed that I had to do it, I went to immigration with my wife and did that and so far after several years have had no problems.
  18. Saw on a you tube clip of a Korean businessman who had lost his job - he was talking about the problems in Korea today and said nothing is worse for an ASIAN than shame. They refuse to accept any fault with their situation even though they may be educated but to admit that shame is beyond their self-awareness). Having lived in many Asian countries, I have experienced that same attitude from just about all that I have met.
  19. Exactly like the trade with China bit - who in their right mind would think that the Chinese would not have as reported here "a SURGE of poor-quality merchanise" pouring into Thailand and underselling the Thai sellers? Everything seems "Knee-jerking" here starting with elections and then dropping the leading candidates and parties and even wiping them out for 10 years! Tomorrow we may have a "NEW" government.
  20. You say that yet look at all those on this forum that have gone to the Thai Revenue dept and found that they have no idea yet about anything. As another aside on a different issue but same problem - immigration officers having "personal" adaptations of the rules and requirements for the expats. With rampant corruption at so many levels, it is difficult to find nationwide acceptance and impementation of every rule. My opinion anyway. Have a good day!
  21. No the US DTA is specific, govt pension is only taxable by the US govt which they do regularly! With the Thai rate it might be 35% which would be higher than the US rate.
  22. Are you talking about the world weather or the tax schemes in Thailand or the US presidential candidates?
