  1. She's clearly already expert in these fields.
  2. As to the 'Aussie lingo' above, much of what's listed there would be all-but-unknown to any Aussie under about 60 years old.
  3. Yes, I understand your 1st para., which I have always known. And I will certainly be pursuing the 2nd para matters, noting also CH's excellent contributions above. The CSC/CSS were certainly not willing to pay direct to my Thai account when I first left Oz permanently in late 2015. Whether it will be worth pursuing further depends on the comparison of the Oz tax I currently pay vs any Thai tax. That calculation is the basis of what happens next: If the difference is large in favour of TRD, then I'll certainly make the effort. But if it's small, probably not worth the huffing 'n puffing I'll have to go thru..
  4. Ridiculous. A government that can't see the trees for the weeds. Howsabout a general minimum wage rise for ALL workers in Thailand? (Oh no! It's the tourist industry that's leading Thailand in to the future, don't you know!)
  5. That would be Deux Cheveaux. You wrote "2 hairs" chevaux
  6. So what would you suggest when one of the homosexual couple is the biological father of all of his 4 boys (2 singles + twins, all produced over time by artificial insemination in Usofa). As is the case of friends of mine in Oz. Went thru school with 2 Dads, loving fathers. All 4 now teenagers, with no doubt the same ups & downs of teenagers everywhere. What's the problem? (other than blind prejudice).
  7. Where I live noone's even seen or heard a Burmese except in movies where the Thais riding elephants beat the daylights out of Burmese (or alternatively Cambodian) infantry.
  8. Would it save the company if he changed its name to something that reflects more accurately its status and purpose? For example: Lies Social.
  9. Flying has been unaffordable to MOST Thais since Adam & Eve departed the Garden of Eden. At the present rate of progress, it's likely to remain so for most of the next 50 years.
  10. And at least 50% of the population lives in poverty.
  11. Remember that your wife will be driving on the 'wrong' side of the road (the evil French influence). Which has implications for safety.
  12. Yes, too shy. Rather like my Thai.
  13. I got new long-distance (ie non-reading) specs a year ago at Bangkok Vision Center, Wattana (near Benjakiti Park). Couldn't be better. Up steep stairs, small, friendly, spoke English, tested my eyes, discussion, laughed at my jokes, chose my frames (Essilor) from limited samples, glasses ready later that day, careful fitting, 7000฿. One year later couldn't be happier with them.
  14. I assume that this HUGE increase (My goodness! How am I going to cope?) will be included in our air fares ... so we won't actually notice it. Which means we have nothing to worry about. Those who continue to worry about it are presumably too poor even to eat on a regular basis.
  15. Looking forward to the next 50 years of economic & social revolution in LOS, led by the country's forward-looking politicians and it's well-educated, tech-savvy and enterprising capitalist class.
  16. Forgive my ignorance, but I take it that government Ministers don't have to be members of Parliament? The current PM is not, for instance. What about the others? Effect of a military-designed 'Constitution'?
  17. Yes, we'll have 2 of those. Um, and 3 of the Swedish. And golly, um, 5 of the American. Should look lovely drawn up at the end of the golf course I mean runway.
