  1. In case anyone is interested, my wife was able to source the part from a Facebook group dedicated to that vehicle model. Several members of that group had a used part in stock, and said that they could get their hands on a new one but it would take a month. If anyone is looking for car parts, this seems to be a good option.
  2. Wise sent an update and said they won't have the money in my SCB account until 2pm tomorrow, August 2.
  3. I think so. I also used Wise to send $54,000 (equivalent to Wise's maximum of 2m Baht, which I assume is either SCB or BOT maximum for online transfers) on the 29th, and Wise said it would be in SCB on August 2.
  4. I recently used some of the WPC (Wood plastic Composite) from Thai Watsadu and to me, it looks like real wood that has been painted with a glossy paint. As for door/window casings, I couldn't find any good ones, anywhere. I again used some WPC from Thai Watsadu, but had to be careful installing it because it was hollow. Finished product looked OK. I looked all over (in Chiang Rai) and couldn't find anything better. For a different house in Chiang Rai several years ago, I did find some colonial style door casings at a wood supplier, but they were pine. Our house is in an area that has lots of termites but so far, so good. Perhaps because we didn't use real wood anywhere else other than doors and door frames. In the Bangkok suburbs, there used to be an area of Bang Sue that had many wood shops and I THINK they had wood for sale. You might want to try there.
  5. I sent $5,000 from Wise US to SCB on the 28th, at 05:55 Thailand time. Wise says expected delivery on August 1.
  6. I would do the Udon to Loei to Nan to Chiang Rai. Take the northernmost route from Loei to Chiang Rai. Beautiful, curvy roads, sometimes on the crests of mountain ranges. I've taken this route several times, as recently as 3 weeks ago.
  7. I just initiated a $5,000 transfer from Wise US to SCB. At the start, it said that the money would be in SCB within 7 hours. When finished, it said it should be there by August 1. Strange delay.
  8. About a month ago, the auto dealer (ex-Chevy dealer but still services Chevys) ordered a replacement part for the air conditioning. At the time, the dealer said that there was a 2 month back-order, so I had them order the part. Today they called and said that the part is now unavailable, anywhere, and suggested that we find a used one. (Not great that they didn't try to find it themselves.) So my question is, where can I find a Chevy used auto part. (I'm in Chiang Rai and assume I won't be able to find it locally.)
  9. Not an issue for me because I'm a Permanent Resident, but that information is helpful for others.
  10. I've done this several times in the past 6 months. I send money from Citibank US to my Wise US account, which goes pretty much instantly. From my Wise US to my SCB account takes several days but I think it takes that long because I've been sending about $25,000-$30,000 each time. I put down the reason as general expenses and they've never questioned me about any transfer but it takes some time for it to end up in my SCB account. Wise keeps me informed of the progress, though, and gives me an ETA, which they always have met.
  11. I ordered TSI2 fairway woods from Supersports online. Twice. The first time, they accepted the order, charged my credit card, and then cancelled the order (without explanation) 5 days later. I'm still waiting for the refund. I next ordered a different TSI2 fairway wood from Supersports and paid with my credit card. Cancelled 2 days later and still no refund. Is there any shop (online or brick-mortar) that has genuine Titleist Fairway woods for sale? I'm in Chiang Rai so cannot visit a brick-and-mortar shop in person, I would need to call them to see if they have one in stock. Online would be better but I am happy with any solution. Thank you.
  12. I just realized that Heaven Burger is closed on Wednesdays. Sorry.
  13. Many places In Chiang Rai, 2 good ones were previously mentioned, Chivit Thamma Da and Coffeenergy. One of my current favorites is Heaven Burger on Jedyod. Le Meridien's La Favola has a great breakfast, more upscale than the other places. Price very reasonable for what you get. It's an all you can eat, fixed price, off an a la Carte menu.
  14. Mystery solved. The AVR had problems which did not show in the display before, but now it does. Now a big red 'Unusual Condition!' in the display and the AVR has thrown itself into bypass mode. No more Phase Protector Buzzing. I'll by pass the AVR and try to get it repaired. Thanks all for the advice.
  15. No, the supply is not low. The Phase protector is fed by a good quality AVR and the AVR is showing a solid 220V. The Phase protector is somewhat redundant but I added the AVR about 6 months after the water system was built. Our PEA feed is single phase, BTW.
  16. My deep-well pump is on a circuit protected by a WIP W-OP2 Phase Protector, and yesterday I noticed that the W-OP2 was buzzing loudly and the pump was not getting any electricity. So I replaced the buzzing W-OP2 with a new one and the pump then received electricity and worked fine. However, the new W-OP2 buzzes. Not as much as the one I replaced, but still a lot more than the original one when it was working correctly. Any ideas of why? Here's a link to the manufacturer's page: https://wipelectric.com/w-op2/ Thank you.
  17. It appears that Moderna is considerably more effective, at least for older folks. https://www.nationthailand.com/international/40013511
  18. https://www.globalhouse.co.th/product/detail/2422006400437 We were at Global and spoke with several salespersons. (They were in a group, socializing.) Not particularly helpful, but one of them said that it was a welding generator because it had the function of a welder too, so you don't need a welding machine.
  19. I looked at the Global Website and they have a gasoline-powered 5kw for about 15k. BUT, they have a diesel-powered 4.5kw for 37k, and it says it's for welding. I assume any 5kw generator would be OK for welding, is my assumption correct?
  20. My mistake, generator is at Thai Watsadu. Gianttech GEN5000. 10,800 baht.
  21. This is what I'm leaning towards. It will be used for quite a bit of welding, I assume. The Global here in Chiang Rai has what I assume is their own brand generator, named G Tech or something like that, which was ridiculously cheap. Price was in the neighborhood of 11k for a 5kw unit.
  22. To get to the PEA line is hundreds of meters, and later on, we'll probably end up buying our own transformer & line from them, but don't want to do it now. A neighbor had a line and private transformer put in and he told my wife his total cost was about 1m. The neighbor wants more than 200k to initially tie into his system and from then on, we have to pay him for our use according to a private meter. If we don't tie into him or get our own line/transformer, the run is too long to get sufficient power, according to PEA and contractor. So rather than have the huge outlay for the transformer while we are paying for the initial build, we thought we might get a portable generator during construction and then use it at our house later once we get the PEA power. Construction workers will not live at the construction site.
  23. We need to get a portable generator for a construction project which does not have PEA power. Probably need 5KW or higher. I've been told that diesel generators are considerably quieter than gasoline, and since we'll use the portable generator at our house (for PEA power outages) after the project is over, quietness is a big plus. any recommendations? Thank you.
  24. I had 21mm of rain at my house. Pollution better than previous years, but not great. PM 2.5 now 33 µg/m3 right now.
  25. Sorry, you're right, as others have posted, as mentioned here: https://www.fincen.gov/sites/default/files/shared/FBAR Line Item Filing Instructions.pdf Note that this can be different from the income tax return, and probably most people use the average rate I posted earlier.
