Three Vietnamese men were detained this morning for unlawfully entering Thailand via a border post in the Isaan province of Nong Khai. They had been previously banned from entering the country. Officials from the Nong Khai Provincial Immigration Office discovered a Facebook post by one of the men, 34-year-old Phan Dinh Sy, offering a transportation service for Vietnamese individuals looking to sneak into Thailand. His service cost 15,000 baht per customer. Following this information, the officers learned that Sy was scheduled to sneak two more Vietnamese individuals into Thailand through the Nong Khai border post today, August 5. The car he planned to use was a black sedan, which the officers monitored closely. The officers were successful in locating the suspect car, which was seen picking up two Vietnamese people at the Nong Khai Bus Terminal. The officers then apprehended all involved. The other two men were found to be 36-year-old Phan Van and 30-year-old Tran Van Am. Investigations revealed that Sy was in Thailand on a non-LA visa, meant for foreign employees, set to expire on February 3 next year. Both Van and Am had been blacklisted from entering the country since October 30 and August 30, 2023, respectively. Sy was charged with aiding illegal entry into Thailand (Section 64 of the Immigration Act), the punishment for which can be up to five years in jail and a fine of up to 50,000 baht. He was also found guilty of working outside of his visa permissions, for which the punishment is a fine between 5,000 and 50,000 baht, deportation, and a two-year work permit ban. Van and Am were charged for entering or staying in Thailand without or with expired permission (Section 81 of the Immigration Act). The penalty for this is up to two years of jail time and a fine of up to 20,000 baht. The Minister, Phumtham Wechayachai, stated that this initiative is to support people and small businesses during these challenging times. About 2,083 vendors will be positively affected by this scheme, according to Phumtham. The Minister encouraged other ministries and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the body responsible for the Chatuchak markets, to adopt similar measures. The Commerce Ministry has told its regional offices across the country to host markets where reasonably-priced items can be sold to locals. This project will commence on August 20, and the markets could be set up in any location that works well for sellers and customers alike. Phumtham also noted that he has asked the Defence Ministry to use military trucks to sell essentials and other goods in remote regions. He mentioned that these steps are in anticipation of expenditures related to the "Digital Wallet" scheme, which is anticipated to commence in the fourth quarter of the year. Motorists in Phuket will face more interruptions at the Heroines Monument due to ongoing power pole moving operations by Thalang Traffic Police along Thepkrasattri Road. These operations are part of the setup process for the Heroines Underpass construction. The first stage of this project kicked off last Wednesday, on July 31, and ended on August 4, as announced on Thalang Traffic Police's online platforms. No pole moving activities were scheduled for the day. However, the moving operations will restart between 9am and 4pm on August 13 and 14. These operations will impact the southbound lanes from the Heroines Monument to Tha Ruea Shrine. Following that, work will continue on the north side of the Heroines Monument between 9am and 4pm from August 15 to 17, up to the Thai Watsadu branch. The same northern section will experience more work between August 26 and 28, according to Thalang Traffic Police. Motorists are advised to avoid the area during the operations. Road maps have been provided by Thalang Traffic Police to assist motorists by offering alternative routes to bypass the Heroines Monument roundabout. Because of intense traffic on Saturday, Thalang Traffic Police temporarily designated one southbound lane for northbound traffic to reduce congestion at the roundabout. Similar procedures are anticipated as work advances. Vehicle operators are urged to arrange their routes appropriately and remain informed about latest traffic updates from Thalang Traffic Police. Searching for assistance, she and her 20-year-old sister reached out to popular social media personality, Guntouch "Gun" Pongpaiboonwet. The traumatic incident happened at a local resort in the Tak Bai district of Narathiwat in May. The victim's sister discovered the crime when she noticed her younger sister showing signs of depression, such as being unusually quiet and spending most of her time in her room. Upon examining her sister's mobile device, she found messages between the young girl and the assailants. As per the older sister's revelation, the group who assaulted the girl comprised of influential drug traffickers in the province, and they threatened the victim to remain silent. Fearing that the powerful group could potentially interfere with the investigation, she decided to seek help from Gun in Nonthaburi. She informed that the group comprised of 13 individuals, the youngest being 16 years old. Some were acquaintances of her younger brother, some were her relatives and one was a legally blind man with a family. Gun informed Channel 3 that one friend of the victim's brother invited her for roti but instead took her to a resort where the group waited to attack her. After the attack, he then threatened to expose her if she shared the incident. When the older sister refused to settle the matter with the group, they dared the girl to file a police report, assuring her that they could easily get it dismissed. As per Gun, the group showed no fear for the law, and he considered their actions inhumane. Unscathed by their influence, Gun stated his intent to confront them personally. A horrifying incident took place in Khon Kaen where a motorbike broke a traffic signal and got hit by a taxi. This unfortunate event resulted in one person losing his life and another being severely injured. A CCTV camera recorded the whole event. The accident happened at 10am today, August 5, at the busy Pratu Mueang intersection in Khon Kaen's city. The CCTV video showed a motorbike breaking a traffic signal and moving into the city. A taxi, abiding by the green signal and moving on the Mittraphap Road, bumped into the motorbike causing grave injuries and death. This horrifying scene played out in front of many people at the traffic signal. The bike rider, 40-year-old Paijit, died in this accident, while the 33-year-old Phobek, who was riding behind Paijit, suffered serious injuries. Both the police and the ambulance arrived at the accident scene quickly. The motorbike, a Honda Zoomer-X registered in Bangkok, was heavily damaged and found on the roadside. The taxi, registered in Khon Kaen and painted blue-and-yellow, was also badly damaged from the front. The 53-year-old taxi driver, Yupaporn, was at the scene at that moment. Yupaporn told her version of the incident. She said she was driving as usual on Mittraphap Road, going from Ban Phai district to Udon Thani. When she got the green signal on the intersection, she moved forward. Suddenly, the motorbike, driven by Paijit with Phobek as the passenger, sped across the red light from Si Chan Road. This lead to the tragic collision. What comes next? Police Colonel Yosawat Kaeosuebthannit has taken the taxi and the motorbike into custody for further examination. The hospital Srinagarind will keep Paijit's body in its forensic department until his family collects it for his last rites. The legal proceedings will move forward as planned. A 47-year-old eyewitness named Ekachai, who sells garlands at the intersection, gave his account of the incident. He said, “I didn’t see the moment of the crash, but I heard a loud noise and saw two men injured on the road. The motorbike rider was already dead, and the passenger was severely hurt.” He also added that the traffic signal on Si Chan Road was red when the motorcycle broke it. He made it clear that the signal for the taxi was green and it was not blinking, proving that the motorbike broke the signal. Ekachai pointed out that small accidents usually happen at this intersection, but they are usually not this serious. This incident, however, had a tragic ending because the motorbike rider did not comply with the traffic rules, leading to catastrophic consequences. Both the CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts have given a clear sequence of the events. This emphasizes the importance of following traffic rules to avoid such travesties. The investigation will continue to decide any more required legal actions after the accident. A tragic incident in Bueng Kan province resulted in two deaths when a neighborhood disagreement escalated. A man killed his neighbor then shot himself despite bystanders' attempts to deescalate the situation. The shooting incident, which took place in Ban Klang, Moo 8, Chaiyaphon subdistrict, Mueang Bueng Kan district, was reported to police and emergency units on August 4. At the scene, they found the bodies of Uthai Phrommin, 46, and Wanchai Sai Sanan, 59. Phrommin, discovered in jeans but without a shirt, had been shot in his right eye, the bullet exiting the back of his head. About 15 meters away, the body of Sai Sanan was discovered, wearing a red-collared shirt, with a gunshot wound to his right temple. A .38 caliber revolver was found near his body. Eyewitnesses disclosed that the two men had frequently been in conflict, often resorting to verbal confrontations. Phrommin operated a grocery store in the village, and Sai Sanan lived about 50 meters away. The confrontation that led to their deaths began as another of their frequent arguments, which escalated into a physical fight. Sai Sanan, unable to overpower Phrommin, went home and returned with the revolver. He shot Phrommin in his right eye, instantly killing him. Despite attempts by bystanders to calm Sai Sanan and convince him to surrender his weapon, he shot himself in the right temple shortly afterward, resulting in his death. Forensic officers and the on-duty doctor at Bueng Kan Hospital first collected fingerprint and forensic evidence at the scene. Autopsies will be done at Khon Kaen Hospital's Forensic Institute to ascertain the exact causes of death. Investigators plan to call on the deceased individuals' relatives and eyewitnesses for interviews to understand what prompted Sai Sanan to resort to violence. Thai transwoman arrested for blackmailing teen to produce porn Photo via Detective News Police swooped to arrest a Thai transwoman at her home in Bangkok for blackmailing a 17 year old boy into producing porn. Full Story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1334693-thai-transwoman-arrested-for-blackmailing-teen-to-produce-porn/ -
Police swooped to arrest a Thai transwoman at her home in Bangkok for blackmailing a 17 year old boy into producing porn. A Thai mother sought help from Thailand’s Internet Crimes Against Children on July 30 after her teenage son became depressed and unable to go to school after being allegedly blackmailed by a ladyboy, later identified as 24 year old Kantamate Kamonsurasate, whom he met on X (formerly Twitter). According to his mother, her son had an online date with Kantamate. Kantamate then tricked the boy into sending her his explicit pictures and videos. He was asked to send the obscene content to the suspect several times a day. The teenage victim wanted to stop sharing the indecent images and videos but Kantamate threatened to publish his explicit content and sell it on social media. The victim had to comply with Kantamate’s orders out of fear of blackmail. Eventually, the victim could no longer stand Kantamate’s actions and decided to stop sharing his indecent pictures and videos with her, prompting the transwoman to sell the victim’s content online. His classmates found the content and shared it with the victim, who felt embarrassed and stopped going to school. Police immediately issued an arrest warrant based on the evidence and arrested Kantamate at her condominium in Bangkok’s Bangkae district on Saturday, August 3. Police found a large amount of child pornography on Kantamate’s mobile phone and tablet. Over 200 gigabytes of porn files were found in the cloud storage. Kantamate confessed that she had been tricking young boys into sending him their explicit content for several years. Police added that Kantamate was arrested for the same offence in August last year in the central province of Nakhon Pathom. The case is still before the court but it still didn’t stop Kantamate from repeating her crime. Kantamate faces three charges including: Section 6 of the Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking Act: seeking benefit from prostitution involving persons over 15 years of age but under 18 years of age. The penalty is six to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of 600,000 to 1.5 million baht. Section 14(4) of the Computer Act: importing indecent information into the computer system which the public is likely to access. The penalty will be imprisonment of up to five years and a fine of up to 100,000 baht. Section 287/1 of the Criminal Law: possession and distribution of child pornography. The penalty is imprisonment of up to seven years, a fine of up to 140,000 baht, or both. Homeless man makes himself comfy in Bangkok cop’s condo Photo via ThaiRath The Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau (IDMB) arrested a homeless Thai man for breaking into an IDMB police inspector’s Bangkok condominium room several times. The Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police Bureau (IDMB) arrested a homeless Thai man for breaking into an IDMB police inspector’s Bangkok condominium room several times. The IDMB police inspector suspected his condo had been broken into on June 27 when he arrived home and found some items out of place. He checked thoroughly and discovered some of his belongings were missing but many of his valuables remained untouched. The police inspector reviewed the condo’s security camera footage and identified the intruder as 25 year old Manassawin “James” Thongkham, also known as James Bangbon. He filed a complaint at Petchkasem Police Station. The police victim questioned how James entered his room despite the condominium‘s strict security measures. Further investigation revealed that James stalked the cop for approximately ten days and entered his room eight times in total. James bypassed security measures by stalking the officer and discovering a spare key hidden in the lobby’s mailbox. When the police officer was at work, James would retrieve the key and enter the room. After over a month of investigation, Petchkasem Police Station officers arrested James on Saturday, August 3, on a roadside forest bordering Chachoengsao and Samut Prakan provinces. Police reported that James, realising he had been caught, fled the area. Homeless, he slept at bus stops and petrol stations. Officers managed to track down James and arrested him. James confessed to entering the police officer’s room but denied any intention to steal. He revealed he did not finish school and was unemployed, leading his family to chase him away. James admitted to sitting outside the condominium often enough to observe the police victim’s daily activities. He insisted he entered the officer’s room to rest and had no ill intentions. He fled the area upon realising the officer knew about the break-ins and noticing police officers tailing him. Further questioning will be conducted to ascertain his true motives. James had been previously arrested for drug possession and theft at a temple and a shopping mall in Bangkok. In this case, he was charged under Section 334 of the Criminal Law: stealing property of another person, which carries a penalty of up to three years imprisonment and a fine of up to 60,000 baht. A Thai woman was found dead with a gunshot wound to her head near Khao Yai, sparking a police investigation into potential murder. The incident occurred yesterday, August 4, with local authorities receiving a report about the body discovered in a wooded area off Thanarat Road. Police identified the victim as 34 year old Netnapa Kransut, from Mueang district, Nakhon Ratchasima. She was found wearing black sweatpants and a white short-sleeved shirt, with a pair of sandals lying nearby. Her body was discovered lying face-up approximately 70 metres from the road. Initial investigations revealed that Netnapa had been shot in the right temple, with the bullet exiting through the left side of her head. Police estimate that she had been dead for over eight hours before being found. A .38 calibre homemade pistol was discovered beneath a bamboo log, along with a spent shell casing and an unused bullet near her body. A brown Louis Vuitton suitcase with wheels was also found at the scene. A closer examination of the suitcase revealed various personal items, including a copy of Netnapa’s ID card and a document from the Agricultural Land Reform Office, though it was registered in someone else’s name. Her educational background indicated she had completed her secondary education up to the third year at a school in Nakhon Ratchasima. Residents reported seeing a woman matching Netnapa’s description walking near the area earlier in the morning. They also noticed a sedan parked nearby, although it remains unclear whether the car was connected to Netnapa. Police are currently collecting evidence and have sent her body to Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital for a detailed autopsy. Cause of death Veerapol Rabeabpho, Superintendent of Pak Chong Police Station, stated that the cause of death is still undetermined and that further evidence and witness testimonies are needed. He emphasised that Netnapa was not a resident, adding complexity to the investigation. CCTV footage reviewed by police shows Netnapa dragging her suitcase away from a resort located about 800 metres from the crime scene. She had been staying at the resort alone since August 1. Police found searches related to purchasing firearms on her mobile phone, leaving open the possibility of either murder or suicide. However, they have not ruled out any other potential motives or circumstances surrounding her death. Netnapa’s brother has contacted the police, expressing confusion over why she was in the area, as she usually resided in Bangkok. Family members are expected to arrive later today to identify the body and provide additional information that may aid in the investigation. Kunlavut, currently ranked eighth in the world, faces Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen, who holds the world’s No.2. A victory for Kunlavut would mark a historic achievement for Thailand in Olympic badminton. In light of this significant event, Torsak has directed the Personnel Office to review and ensure that all benefits and support are provided to Kunlavut and other police athletes representing Thailand in the Olympics. This initiative aims to boost their morale and recognise their dedication to bringing honour and joy to the nation, said Torsak. “The dedication and hard work of these athletes not only elevate Thailand’s stature on the global stage but also bring immense pride and happiness to all Thai people.” The commitment from the police force underscores the importance of supporting national representatives in their quest for sporting excellence. As Kunlavut steps onto the court tonight, he carries the hopes and best wishes of a nation eager to see him succeed, reported KhaoSod.
