  2. Photo via Facebook/ ไดอารี่สุดกาวของพ่อค้าร้านน้ำ A Thai sex doll collector took to Facebook to share some spooky stories that would not look out of place in a horror movie after he bought a new doll from a stranger online. The man, who runs a Facebook page called the Imaginary Diary of a Drink Vendor (ไดอารี่สุดกาวของพ่อค้าร้านน้ำ), believes the sex doll he bought is haunted by a troubled spirit. A stranger messaged the buyer on Facebook and offered him a flawless second-hand sex doll at a very reasonable price. The original cost was 40,000 baht but he got a discount and paid only 25,000 baht. The seller delivered the doll to him the next day. The man thoroughly checked the doll and found that it was more than perfect for the price he paid. He put clothes on her, combed her hair and then placed her in the bedroom with the rest of his harem. While he was dressing the doll, his girlfriend came around to check on it. The scene she witnessed left her speechless! She was astonished! She said… “Don’t you think the doll looks exactly like me? It looks so realistic. Agree?” The man acknowledged that the sex doll was remarkably lifelike and bore a close resemblance to his girlfriend in terms of height and body shape. However, he dismissed the similarities, stating that it was not unusual as sex dolls are meant to resemble real women. He then proceeded to store the doll in the second-floor bedroom. A day after getting the doll, strange things started happening. He heard a noise from the room, as something had fallen on the floor. When he went to check, he found a comb on the floor. Just as he went to put the comb back where it belonged, he noticed that the doll’s hair was messy, as if she needed him to comb it. He was sure her hair was perfectly groomed the last time he saw her. Nevertheless, he combed the doll’s hair again and then put the comb back. Thailand’s billion-dollar sex trade operates in plain sight, with massage parlours, nightclubs and girlie bars pulsing with activity in the country’s red-light districts – Nana, Soi Cowboy, Walking Street, Soi 6, Patpong, Bangla Road, etc. While technically illegal, a new Thai government-led plan aims to change that. The proposed Protection of Sex Work Act would replace the 1996 Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act, which criminalises most sex work, with a law that affirms sex workers’ rights and their ability to sell sex. It will also clarify many of the muddy areas in the current legislation that isn’t clear on whether prostitution is illegal or not. Jintana Janbumrung, director-general of the Department of Women’s Affairs and Family Development, which is spearheading the reform effort, believes this law will make sex work safer by giving sex workers legal status. 6. PHOTO: Flickr/heart_of_au Market vendors are reporting a surge in plastic water gun sales as both Thais and tourists prepare themselves for the looming Songkran water battles, officially the first since pre-pandemic days (although last year there was plenty of unofficial Songkran water celebrations). Songkran has been a muted affair since April 2020 due to Covid-19, but as the pandemic abates, the government has given water fights the go-ahead for the first time in 3 years. The result, according to a Nation Thailand report, is a surge in the sale of super soakers across a number of markets in the Wiset Chai Chan district of Ang Thong, north of Bangkok. With temperatures currently soaring across much of the country, millions of Thais and foreign tourists are expected to cool down by indulging in water fights during the Thai New Year holiday, which begins on Thursday and ends Monday.
