Find Folk, a sustainable destination management consultancy, took home the inaugural Impact NOW “Best in Show” Award 2022. The MFA created the Impact NOW event to connect Thailand’s sustainable enterprises and the wider social impact ecosystem to the foreign business community. The event saw over 180 attendees, consisting of members of 14 foreign chambers of commerce & trade associations, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives from the Thai government. Impact NOW featured four sustainable enterprises—Find Folk, Happy Grocers, moreloop, and Vulcan Coalition—shortlisted from candidates who participated in grant programs and pitching contests organized by the NIA. The four companies were invited to showcase their sustainable business models through the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDG Investor Map for Thailand identifies investment opportunity areas ideal for impact investment. Several members of the diplomatic corps in attendance praised the goals of the event. “It is very, very important to support any event that focuses on SDGs,” said Dr. Georg Weingartner, Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of Austria in Thailand. “I was very impressed today when I saw the presentations of the companies, of the startups; I was also very impressed with the solutions they could offer.” Source: https://www.thailandnow.in.th/business-investment/impact-now-brings-sustainable-thai-innovations-to-a-global-audience/ -- © Copyright THAILAND NOW 2022-09-20 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 11. BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Commerce has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote transboundary online trade among Thailand’s small enterprises. The initiative aims to add at least 300 million baht to the economy within 3 years. Deputy Commerce Minister Sinit Lertkrai presided over the agreement signed between the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and Shopee Thailand Co, Ltd. The MOU will promote transboundary trade by leveraging the DITP’s online “TOPTHAI” Store program, which will be launched on leading online platforms in target markets. The program is expected to help strengthen confidence in Thai products and improve exports. Sinit said TOPTHAI Store will open on the Shopee Thailand platform and participating sellers will receive digital skills training so they can sustainably implement sales practices. The entrepreneurial stores will be promoted and campaigns to stimulate demand conducted, including but not limited to discount coupon offers and free delivery offers. Shopee will also support entrepreneurs in creating online stores abroad, handling merchandise and stocks, chats with customers, and export operations. Initially, Thai sellers will receive orders from customers in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. A target has been set to bring 50,000 predominantly small sellers to the Shopee platform in order to generate 300 million baht of sales within three years. The TOPTHAI Store is now available on seven leading online trade platforms. These include bigbasket.com in India, Tmall in China, Amazon in the US, PChome Thai in Taiwan, Klangthai in Cambodia, and Blibli in Indonesia. The store has already generated a total of 505 million baht in sales, leveraging Thai products lines that were specifically selected by government agencies for their quality. 13. BANGKOK (NNT) - Operation “Titanium” – a coordinated effort by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to bust a network that imports stolen luxury cars from the United Kingdom – has so far succeeded in reclaiming 26 stolen vehicles, with nine more yet to be recovered. The operation was initiated in response to a 2017 request from the British embassy for Thai authorities to track down 35 luxury cars stolen from the UK and illegally imported into Thailand. The DSI accepted the case in 2018. Justice Minister Somsak Thepsuthin and DSI Director-General Triyarith Temahivong said the 35 vehicles were brought into Thailand between July 2016 and March 2017. All of the cars were imported using forged documents by a sole importing firm that sold all of them to imported auto showrooms run by network companies. Officials were able to track down 26 of the vehicles whose owners were unaware they were stolen and subsequently relinquished the cars to authorities. The owners are now being treated as witnesses. The owners of the remaining nine vehicles have meanwhile refused to hand them over and will be prosecuted for accepting stolen goods. Authorities said the showrooms that sold the cars would also be prosecuted if found culpable, as will the importer for declaring falsified import tax records and importing stolen cars. Efforts are currently underway to return the stolen cars to their original owners. The statement reads: “This results in the widespread use of recreational marijuana in the community, leading to free access to cannabis use by children, teenagers, and vulnerable groups, which absolutely goes against the purposes for the cannabis legalization as claimed by the government.” Full Story: https://thepattayanews.com/2022/09/19/more-than-a-thousand-medical-staff-sign-their-names-to-demand-thai-government-to-immediately-shut-down-liberalization-of-marijuana-use-make-the-drug-a-narcotic-again/?sfw=pass1663589002 -- © Copyright The Pattaya News 2022-09-19 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
