  1. You wanted mass tourism, and you got it. Chinese, who do not spend in bars and clubs!

Ever go to China? Their bars and clubs are packed, always. No problems there.

The Chinese come here with money to burn but for some reason Thai and Western style establishments do not attract them. One if these days someone will build something that caters to them and get very rich until they get shut down or burned down, jealous Thai neighbors and all.

  2. The joys of renting coffee1.gif

Because owners move into one place and die there?

    People move. Renters and owners.

Stability. Ive been here same home 15 years and close friends have moved several times while renting in that period.

Renters are at the mercy of landlords and can be forced out form a number of reasons eg, owner jacks rent, owner decides to sell, owner wants to move back in , house falls into disrepair .....and to top it off you gotta fight for your 2 months deposit at times, lots of horror stories there and its well documented so please dont tell me that are the same thing

15 years in the same home? Impressive.

  3. When you consider that a passport needs to have a photo with an actual likeness to the bearer, does this guy really have 1000 customers waiting for delivery??

Or- maybe that is why they are only 6000 THB each. Quantity over quality.

Sure. Huge business, especially for those who want to open various bank accounts and live under the radar. Something not so unusual these days. I wouldn't mind having one or two of them to be honest.

  4. I don't know how old you are, but I bet your hair is white by now.

We moved from Pattaya to Chiang Mai. A large house and office, along with several motorbikes. The movers showed up with an open roof truck instead of a closed roof as I requested, but the put a tarp over the top and tied it down. To our surprise, they did a great job, everything made it without a scratch, in time, and hassle free. We paid 20k or 22k, I don't recall. Kudos to them, they did a great job. One of the few times here that things worked out well for us when dealing with locals.

  5. Sounds about right. At least you're finally settled and it's over.

Though, I'll add that using a "professional" company is often just as dodgy as using Porn and Somchai from down the street. It's all a toss of the coin here.

Just be thankful you haven't tried to build or remodel a house yet. It's all of that PLUS tons more Thai crap added to the recipie. It literally almost turned me into a drunk. Worst experience of my life. How anything gets built in this country is beyond me.

  6. I saw a 2 motorbike taxi asking 1000 thb from 2 Japanese girls for a journey that's usually 10thb....bts punawithi to soi 64

None of my business but cancer would be too good for some of them ....and people wonder why the tourists numbers are falling...

Speaking for myself and numerous friends on our many trips to Thailand not once did we sit down and discuss not going because of a tuk tuk . Its such a minute aspect in the big trip picture, not to say I like them but how weak would you need to be to cancel the trip?

I thought the tourist numbers were rising , not that it matters as Tuk Tuks have always been there so up or down its irrelevent

It's the scumbag collective that's the problem. One after another. For some people at starts at the airport when they arrive and doesn't stop.
