Good luck with that.

Repeat offenders? They don't even track first time offenders.
All Thais know, just as we do, the police here are a farce.

Modern Form.
Good chairs are expensive here.

Am I the only one who don't have a offshore company in Panama?

Superstitious and silly request to "apologise" as it doesn't bring her son back and helps those who perpetrated the crime 'feel better' that they apologised to his ghost.
Forget the superstitious nonsense and punish the wrongdoers and ensure it NEVER happens again
This is Thailand, her son very well may come back to life.

A crowded Thai book fair. I'm impressed.

Sounds like someone needs an attitude adjustment.

Yep, stickers and pamphlets should do the trick.

A reasonable request.

It grows wild all over in northern Thailand. They are peeing in the wind.

So that the gang could escape and certain people continue getting the big fat brown envelopes ... or some were just plain stupid ... or both.
This.
They know dang well who runs the drug trade, especially in such large amounts.

Men fall for the sick buffalo story. Women fall for the sick pet story. Same same, but different.

It is good to know that shooting foreigners in the face with high powered water guns is still legal. Bonus points if they are on their bike and/or on the highway.

There are two areas around the most, on top of the wall at the corners, where people often camp. But you usually can't see them from the road. Homeless Thais sleep there too.

On cue, China started blocking news of this today, as several of their polititions were on the list.

Worse is stuck behind a group of them ordering cooked hit dogs at 7-11. Holy Christ!

Just focus on real education and everything else will fall into place.

Poor kid. Though, can't say I'm surpised.
I'm sure the PM will personally look into it and heads will roll. (That was sarcasm)

My guess would be that if names are put into print, then foreign news agencies would be where to look.....I can't imagine the Thai media to expose any local names.....unless of course they're "enemies" of the state
Well I should have put in bold the whole sentence, but I am particularly awaiting the list of the Army it will bring a bit more interest to the current Junta leaders...."Twenty names of Thai nationals who included well-known rich families, businessmen, celebrities, politicians and military officers are said to be among the list. They are linked to 963 companies."
I bet some of them appear on TV regulary
'said to be'.
Since you're so explicit you might have mentioned 'police and military officers', just to show your objectivity
Interesting that till now the number of names 'confirmed' is somewhat minimal. Of course the alleged list is somewhat longer.
Maybe they will export Attitude Adjustment to Panama
It is easy to get nominee directors to have the account held in their name. It's just another service offered to them. Thais, or anyone else, who were trying to hide money (illegally) and didn't use this option, were foolish, because it is easy to do.
You probably won't ever hear of the larger accounts, or the more shady ones, because they were smart enough to cover their ass if they were doing something they didn't want anyone else to know about. The low hanging fruit will be exposed, as usual.

To bad can't get list from Singapore, lots of locals have accounts there as well
Cyprus, Lichtenstein, BVI, and so on. There are many places to put your money legally if done correctly. A bit shady perhaps, but still legal in most cases if you do it correctly.
Most countries don't tax their citizens on their world wide income if they live abroad, however, Americans are not so lucky. In regards to Thais, I'm sure there are plenty of tax loopholes that allow them to not report money abroad. But it all makes for a juicy read and headlines.
Look at Starbucks and IKEA for excellent examples of how to use tax havens to their advantage. For the Thais who don't report that income, they may not have to if it was money made abroad. I'm not familiar with the Thai tax code.

Was anything gained by this today or were there any deaths?
-
Usually, it's a train or a bus crash we read about. A train and a bus crashing together is a new one.
They very well may be trying for that #1 spot for road deaths. Though, I wonder if train tracks count?
RIP. Your deaths could have easily been avoided.

It is obvious that the "news" headlines and slant here are created for max views and discussion, and that's OK with me. It's quite brilliant actually, as it brings us all together, daily, which shows more ads and so on. TV has it figured out, and I commend them for it. It's a good business model, especially when they are so many grumpy guys here who want to complain and express their frustration. Slant a headline or story, or post something ridiculous or unfair, and you have pages of engagement. I only wish I could have thought of it first.Farang deals drugs, get handcuffed for pointing photo, headline 'American' no mention of Thai accomplices
Thai shoots a man on the street six times, no handcuffs, no pointing, headline 'Rama IV Road shooter'
Secondly, in regards to the cuffs vs no cuffs, point vs no point, it is quite simple, most of the Thais loath us. They tolorate the heck out of us, but anytime they can get away with a kick, punch, cheat, stab, robbing, cuffing, or humiliation, they do it. Such treatment and images time and time again prove this.
For me, reading the news on TV every morning is pure entertainment. I can't wait to see who was killed or arrested, what public transport crashed, and which idiotic politician or "expert" said something incredibly stupid. I love it. It's like living inside of a twisted cartoon.
